"She" will always remind me of my late wife. She passed away in June of 2009. We were both only 27 yrs old, we had two beautiful daughters together, which I've been raising alone since. My wife used to blare "Dookie" when she'd be cleaning our house and she had the most adorable little dance she'd do. Haha. When "She" came on she'd always stop cleaning, do her little dance and mime the lyrics. When I close my eyes, I can still see her singing along to that song, smiling and giggling. Sigh......it amazes me that even after all these years, I still miss her so much. I've never remarried and I've had 2 relationships of any sort of length. I guess I just can't seem to let go and I feel guilty for loving another. I can't justify being happy with her gone. Damn, I probably sound absolutely crazy right now, it's just that we were high school sweet hearts, we'd been together since we were 15. She was my best friend and this last decade has been the hardest of my life. Im grateful to bands like green day because they remind me of good times with her. Take care all.

You don't sound crazy at all. I am really sorry that you lost your wife. I create/transfer and post these videos for free to help spread a little joy- I hope this helped you as well.

Dude, your not crazy at all. That is the gift andor curse music brings, memories. The fact that 3 chords brings her back to you if not for those 3 and a half minutes is proof of the magic of music. My heart goes out to you brother. May you find happiness again down the road.

Africa for Africa, Asia for Asians, White countries for Everyone?!
If Gilman Street "anti-racists" are so unconcerned with race, how come they only have a problem with White schools, White workplaces, White towns, White Cites and White countries? I've never seen any "anti-racist" complain that any place is too Brown and it has to become LESS Brown to combat racism. Who do they think they are kidding?

Not just to what was going on but the hope and dreams or lack thereof you had of the world at the time. Those first albums do that for me. What would my life been like if I hadn't found this band and punk rock?

Paper Lanterns is a terrible reminder for everyone alive during the Wood Stock's 25th anniversary celebration. Instead of enjoying the music and exposure to mother nature's elements like our parents generation did. Rolling around in the mud, making love and celebrating each others differences and a general acceptance for everyone. This was that generations angst against "The Greatest Generation Ever". Imagine growing up with that over your head! My generation following human nature and fighting against the ones before them, who at the same farm 25 years before started a protest against an organized concert planned by greedy corporations and promoters. My friend has the three day ticket printed on blotter paper under glass he received from his Aunt. It looked brand new and wasn't torn since thousands of people took over the event. The contradiction of greedily profiting off people to experience the very music and freedom that stood against these ideals had to stop. They also needed and wanted to show their message to the world, proving their parents wrong. Something every youth have set out to do in one way or another thru-out time-they actually pulled it off in such a massive way they could have changed it all. Instead, except for a few true hippies, gave it all away except for the drugs. On that farm on those days however, they said to the World and parents "We have taken a gathering originally to profit off our music and suffering, which should be free to be enjoyed by anyone willing to do so. We are denouncing our way's of life taught by generations as right, realizing the lies and seeing both your's and our's. We're disproving every notion of sensationalism you've heard or seen about us. We are setting out to do this taking what is ours from those we think are wrong doers. Collaborated by those you think are wrong doers to prove we CAN peacefully accomplish a massive gathering w/o help from corporations. We harbor no resentment against you as you were born children of war. You're parents fought and died in a war while you were raised under the same belief and fought and died yourselves in a larger war. We see this cycle now for what it is and our war is being fought w/o anyone asking for help. We see fellow friends, brother, sisters and parents die and suffer even if they return. The world is shrinking and the same atrocities continue to happen to our enemies, who today stand on stage our in a field hand to hand with us. Too prove to everyone our way of thinking is not dangerous, that life music and nature are things worth saving rather than bombing we are choosing a different way of thinking and living. Not perfect of course but as humans we will keep trying and failing until it's a universal understanding those called enemies are fellow human beings. In most cases even allies until a tiny percentage decides to call them enemies. Time and time again we are fear-mongered so you can pit us against each other. We are calling B.S. on this cowardly tiny percentage of people, the only few who profit largely from this suffering until the next cycle of lies and manipulation make us forget the previous ones." They used their adolescent angst creating lasting, positive changes. My generations response, live, in front of the World, was starting perhaps the largest mud fight in history. During Green Day's performance of Paper Lanterns a song I'll never forget and upsets me. It marked the end of an era, and the start of nothing. I felt this as a 13 year old and understood that, myself and my parents would never have the power to change the world again. Not like during the first Woodstock. It's sick how they gave it all up and put measures in to assure nothing like that could happen in my, or even the next generations rebelious stage. Though a lot of the positive idealology did stick. Perhaps as a reminder to them the danger of that power. Too use what was learned from it to teach us history's flaws instead. It's too easily forgot when your busy with so many things and on the other side though. If you want to make a change you have to take what's yours. That was lost on everyone after that generation realized certain truths. After giving up they focused on protecting their children and that never changed. A fatal flaw they fought so hard against was sensationalism from news and people who didn't have the fact. Misleading, lying and greed are good so long as you rename them and lie to yourself enough so you can sleep. All this mixed together, along with the arrogance of what they did accomplish and the lie they could change things from within, resulted in the greed and return of all that was fought for morphed and reoccured in the 1980's 10 fold. This was sadly proven when Mike Dirt, clearly a member of the band even my Grandmother along with everyone in the room, was tackled by "Security". He had a gag mask put on before being removed. This was proof they wouldn't let go of what was ours now and the condradictions were thicker than ever. To me, that moment in that song was a statement and warning of things to come. None of it Green Days fault. They've walked two generations or more thru adolesnce and warned us of all this. Hopefully they're music keeps getting listened to by younger audiences so they have a lighthouse full of relevant lyrics, riffs and feelings too follow when lost. Same effect Beatles albums have still, only I can't see where Green Day stopped or fell off.

I can´t belive they actually played a song off the trilogy in 2015! And that as a start for a show at 924 Gilman, that´s pretty cool. They even changed the key at the end what they only did on very early live performances!

I've heard a great deal about this concert... Well, what I can see now thanks to your video is far beyond everything I could've expected ! I'm really grateful :) Who will dare say after watching (and hearing...) this that Green Day doesn't rule, even now, or especially now shall I say, over punk... And these guys aren't resentful at all ! Coming to perform there, peaceful and cheery, after 21 years without being admitted in the place...
Is this the starting point, or maybe the completion, of the "full circle [the band] went" dixit Billie the next year ? "breathing air for the first time" he says just at the end of this performance of Christie Road ! Like an overwhelming recognition he wasn't waiting for anymore... Song about was was home to him... This "homecoming", coming back to this home of his heart, that has just acted a precious reconciliation, seems to have participated in a liberation for Billie and consequently for Green Day, for the following years. Probably contributing to the fabulous amount of energy being given on current Revolution Radio tour, and a constantly improving Billie, more particularly on vocals, which I find greater than ever these days.
Your 3 cameras are really something. When seeing Billie close-up I'm just immersed in his look and, I see all those very strong emotions together. A hardly-contained happiness, mixed with some deep relief... feverish excitement and quiet attention in one look... my words will never be up to what I feel exactly :')

I think it’s more the fact that with Jason around, it allows Billie to fully be the dynamite stage presence that he is. Although Billie himself is a phenomenal guitarist and comes up with all the guitar parts when they record in the studio.....he prefers being Mr frontman I guess.
      Plus Jason is awesome anyway
