The main attribute of powerlifting that I love is the community. The first powerlifting meet I went to was amazing. Everyone was so supportive. There were athletes not even benching a plate and yet the crowd was roaring for them. Truly awesome 🔥

Equipped lifting is ego lifting at it's finest! I can bench 2300lbs with a fork lift, doesn't mean I benched that weight! anything but sleeves in powerlifting, doesn't matter!

@@thor2437 Nowadays it's true what yr saying. What annoys me is that people are hating on equipped lifting back in the day. First of all, the gear did not make as much as a difference as of now. And secondly, raw was not even a thing. Shitting on powerlifting legends from the past because they did not lift raw is just stupid

I started competing in powerlifting in 1997 and finally retired in 2018 after 21 years with an Elite total. I switched to olympic weightlifting (just for something new) and I honestly never missed powerlifting for one minute.... until watching this. That was motivating, really took me back. Outstanding stuff my friend, you are legit as they come.
Side note: I always had amazing results cutting water using a hot bath, something I got from an MMA fighter... epsom salt, cover yourself in Albolene (makeup remover you can buy anywhere), water hot as you can possibly handle. 20 mins in, 5 out and wrapped in warm blankets, repeat. I could usually cut 8 pounds in 90 minutes (I competed in the lighter weight classes), which is usually all I could cut without affecting my performance.

I started weightlifting back in the day, because I had this pent up energy that was driving me nuts. Sometimes I couldn't sleep, and felt like I could tear down the house. I discovered weightlifting, and it was exactly what I needed to blow that pent-up energy off. I've tried creatine, and it makes me feel like that explosive energy I had back the day that made me start weightlifting. I did pretty good, but didn't achieve any world records.

    38:57 torn bicep.
You think that someone since the 1950's or 1960s would fix the torn bicep problem with allowing a ten dollar pair of wrist wraps. Fucking stupid sport if they can't figure that out.
Btw Arnold strongman contest uses wrist wraps. Smart.

I’m sorry so let me understand,so you wear a super tight shirt that helps your chest return to it’s starting point so it’s doing part of the work for you, then you arch your back in the most ridiculous crap like style to reduce the distance on the press from start to finish…..WHATS THE POINT.

The easiest/least miserable way to water cut is to drive around with the heat blasting in a sauna suit, alternating AC when you can’t bear it anymore. Distracts you from how miserable it is

Horrible way to cut weight.. just as bad as sitting in a sana. It burns up your organs. Also sitting in water your skin which is the largest organ of your body absorbs said water. Best thing to do is to cut food calories way down while pounding ice cold water.

Because as a police officer how much you can bench will help you in no way whatsoever. 58% of your Body weight. That’s about as pointless as the armies new physic fitness test which was implemented years ago but not really and this far like no one has done it as a combined unit.

These American powerlifters are definitely strong AF. However, the sport needs to return to raw lifting, mandatory drug testing in all organisations, and a squat depth requirement below parallel. This guys squat depth would have got him red lighted in an IPPF comp…
