    I don't care if suppressors are useless, I still equip them all the time because the suppressed gunshot sound in RoN is some of the best in the industry.

      Well if it was realistic, the noise cancelling headphones would make it sound way differently but people would complain that the game doesn’t sound realistic.

    So irl, the suppressor’s main use for SWAT teams in to distinguish SWAT gun shots from suspect, protect the hearing of the officers (sometimes the whole team don’t have electronic ear pro) and the hearing of the general public who may be in vicinity of the team’s gunshots. You shouldn’t try to use suppressors in this game like its Splinter Cell because those silencers are always gonna be unrealistic as hell.

      Those are arguments I had not considered in favor of suppressors and are well worth considering. I do think there is value in noise intimidation however.

      Yeah, suppressed firearms are still VERY loud, so in a CQB environment people are going to hear it.

    I use the suppressor to minimize muzzle flash. Without it, it's hard to see what you're shooting at in the dark after a few rounds.

    So yelling and killing or detaining a suspect has a huger trigger Radius than shooting a gun with no silencer. Alerted suspect have 360 degree view range, but calm down between 40-60seconds. Location of grenade and door openings will trigger suspects, they might come to investigate. Suspect react to shooting location/ viewrange but not to bullets landing close to them. Very good info😊

    1:23 I am now going to use this discovery to update my ROE to shoot on site, as they appear to have heard me declare my position in law enforcement as well as possibly referring them to drop there weapons. And any action beyond my declared entry towards me as an officer is conducted with ill intent by the suspects.

      You can absolutely do that, I yell for compliance before entering a room sometimes. It gives away your position, but also means you are free to engage if they're not complying when you walk in.

    I personally use supressors because the gun sounds are increadibly loud especially when firing inside buildings in this game
    Ive heard that nowadays in some police departments Suppressors are used by the police to reduce hearing damage but at the same time its only a thing ive heard
    Yes i know that you can off course turn down the sound but for me when i do it just becomes too quiet and i cannot hear what is going on around me in the game

    Unfortunately, despite the updated sound system and detection, this is still present in the full 1.0 release. There were so many times where suspects told me to off myself from the opposite side of the map when I yeld at a civvie near the spawn.

      God bro I’ve been struggling with this as well. They like reverted way back to a worse version of the AI from the beta.
      My favorite I have tested out is the detection radius for opening your tablet. It seems to put some into hunting phase

    Very educational! I always use your videos as “research” to figure out how to play the game. I agree the AI should have some changes, but I imagine is a Herculean feat to rewrite that much code. Hopefully there will be a mod/update that changes the AI for the better, but I also expect it will Bork out something else entirely then

      It might require a lot of effort but they have to do it if they want the game to stack up to its spiritual predecessors, this is some quite janky AI and the game suffers for it drastically.
      It shouldn't have even gotten this deep into the EA release to begin with, honestly, should have been rewritten long ago.

    I would absolutely love if they increased screen shake and even added concussion effects as a side effect to using a muzzle brake, making it worse by caliber. A big reason a lot of depts use suppressors now are precisely because of the issues with unsuppressed firearms, especially 5.56 rifles, being shot rapidly in close quarters.
    That would really play in to the trade-off to adding more length to your barrel in order to avoid the harsh effects of unsuppressed rifles.
    Some really interesting dynamics from the AI though. Really good to know.

      @bob SWAT and other elements wear hearing protection mostly for communication purposes. I've dumped rounds in CQB plenty, and even with ear protection in, the concussion effects of short barreled rifles is still very inconvenient and actually leads to traumatic brain injury depending on firing schedule

    like others have said, I use suppressors because they work pretty much like IRL. flash hiding, not insanely loud, etc.
    only downside is that you add some inches to your barrel

      The problem for me is that others do all of that better than the suppressor. Ron is obviously not a meta game, so you can play with whatever you find looks best, but I wanted to disprove the myth the suppressor actually helps you be stealthy in-game.

    I mean despite the AI not being that smart, you can't deny that they aren't incompetent. Also the detain increased radius thing is insane. That's probably why people get jumped from the most unexpected places.

    I actually never equip suppressors in RoN. I don't know if my logic applies to the game, but my real world logic is that noise intimidation is too valuable to give up. Noise is a valuable tool for stunning and suppressing resistance. The SWAT officers all have ear pro on, the suspects typically do not. A lot of really loud, reverberating noises, especially in tight quarters in theory will help make suspects more compliant. You're overwhelming people with sound.
    Suppressors make more sense for special operators trying to minimize giving their position away and for civilians who may not have the time or wherewithal to dawn ear pro when something goes bump in the night.
    Suppressors make the least sense for cops because of the aforementioned sound reason and because under most circumstances cops are supposed to be advertising their presence to give suspects a chance to surrender and come quietly.

    Actually this is realistic, because the silencer doesn't actually silence guns in combat. In real life, guns with silencer are still loud enough to be heard by enemies.

      That was not really the point I was trying to get across. I think it is fine for enemies to hear silencers. The problem is that opening doors or arresting someone alerts people from further away than silenced shots.
      It is completely irrelevant to use silencers when opening a door is going to do more noise, thus it is impossible to be "hidden"

      A suppressed gun with subsonics is pretty much movie quiet, all you really hear is the rattle of the mechanism cycling. Maybe a puff of gas if the can isn't very large

    Suppressors, imo, really help distinguish between friend and foe, as so far from what I've seen I've only ever seen players with suppressors, allowing me to easily identify and be identified as "in danger", essentially

    really strange and sus how sound and triggers work
    especially with apprehension and such (could be changed and make sense Mindjot security since much like my previous comment, a nice suggestion and detail is to have radios go off, so let's imagine a calm or alerted phase where they make status checks and security radioing everyone, so if you take down one lethally or not and if they don't respond, that's where they become suspicious or alerted and sending a member to check it out (similar to the MGS games when you almost avert the alarm phase but having one extra sentry coming in), and when you're in a gun fight they'd communicate such as relocating/retreating and so on (a little militaristic for a security force, but still) it'd certainly make them stand out like the Veterans and Terrorists since they'd be using different tactics than your average gangster with a Hi-Point pistol
    plus if we had a secondary objective like having to confiscate something that contains hard evidence (like Voll or Brixley's CP stuff or messages), when security is fully alerted, they'd order one of their guys to take evidence we need with them (either keeping it or getting ready to escape much like the SWAT 4 subway level where if too many mobsters escape you lose), just an idea and this may not happen but still, pretty cool :)

      @@ryoukaherself agreed it'd be so awesome, same as for the veterans (since they're clearly experienced ex army/military guys, they should be tougher to face than your average crackhead with a civilian pistol and class 2 vest), though yeah maybe keep it as a exclusive mode (i heard they will remove modes that don't fit in with certain levels which is understandable)

    Wonder if this is still the case for 1.0
    I know they majorly reworked AI and audio both.
    Also, apparently having a suppressor on and firing isn't as intimidating to suspects when it comes to making them comply. Loud bang bang makes bad person scared.

      I know for sure they can hear when you reload or check magazine (they immediate rush you and say "He's reloading!"). Also it seems they can hear SWAT footsteps through walls. Would love to see someone do a full 1.0 AI analysis.

    yeah, I noticed that too, on gas station once. entered a room with a suspect having his back to me, and the guy did not notice walking up behind him until I yelled...and hope you get well soon.
    But due to the lethal fights, I rather go in stealth anyway, opening doors and lockpicking, rather than breaching. That's also why I wondered when you should do breach/clear over open/clear, and which breaching method /kick, shotgun or explosives should be used when.
    And, silly question, when giving the SWAT Al non lethal guns, is the R7 worth it? They fire it so slow. I wondered if giving them all beanbacks for nonlethal approaches is better

      I don’t think the R7 is worth it for the AI. The times I tried it myself they didn’t do anything and died pretty fast every single time

      Yup, you can bleed out if you don’t treat open wounds and enemies can bleed out if you shoot their arteries or shoot them enough times

    The game has a lot of issues. In Hostage situation, every armed individual is considered enemy combatant, and shooting him would be textbook. Also, some missions you make police grunt work e.g. find the hidden drugs, etc. That is not the job of a rapid deployment team. Also, getting penalized for shooting someone with an ak and full body armor during a bomb threat because you didn't shout first "police" is detached from reality. Rapid deployment teams are only used in extreme situations and have different ROE. Instead, you behave like a traffic cop. The AI was better in a 15 year old game called Swat 3 cqb
