    Merry Christmas Steve & all!
    As a retired Residential contractor with "very particular" tendency's, 😉 your spot on on your explanations for viewers not in the trades.
    I fully understand the water proofing contractor not accepting your help. Too much to lose on his part no matter how much insurance he has. They did an excellent job. Your way better off staying out of the way as you'd have that crap all over yourself & everything else you'd touch! Almost impossible to do as nice a job yourself without the specialty equipment.
    Yes I'm one of those guys that enjoyed every minute working on my own houses. (Especially a major remodel last year as a retiree) 😀😀😀👍👍
    Keep it up!!

      Thank you very much! I never try to persuade someone to be on camera if they don’t want to be or force my help if it’s not needed/wanted hahaha but thank you very much! I hope you had a merry Christmas!

    Steve, my neighbor had his foundation poured, and foam board attached the same way. When he backfilled, he placed a sheet of plywood about 2 feet out from the wall with fiber cloth towards th foundation, placed the dirt on the outside and the gravel on the inside, filling the void in stages. After he hit close to the grade line he then pulled the plywood out saving a boat load of bucks on gravel. His home was constructed over 30 years ago, and not even a damp spot on the interior basement walls to this day.
    Merry Christmas, and at this rate you'll be launching fireworks in the finished back yard by the 4th of July!!!

      I've seen someone do that before with the plywood.

      That’s pretty smart thinking! I’ll have to keep that in mind for the next house since the backfilling is already done haha merry Christmas!

    I applied foundation tar myself, in the winter. It took me forever as I was working full time at my regular job, had to wait for warm enough days to apply it, and didn't know of any companies that did it. would have been nice to have had it done in one day. No leaks or water issues in 27 years now. Techniques and materials sure have changed since then.

      I'm glad to hear that your foundation is still dry after all these years! I was originally thinking I was doing it but after seeing the pricing, it was kind of a no brainer haha merry Christmas!

    With due respect to the (AHEM ) waterproofing job, what will save your foundation from water infiltration is the drain system.
    Water will find a way into your basement even up around the lolly collums if there is enough pressure.
    It can even crack a concrete wall if the water condition is serious enough.
    But the french drain system you have will prevent that from happening.
    Note that im not implying that you shouldnt have done the waterproofing as well, as that will also help with the damp wall issues.
    But it just wont stop a serious water issue.

    • @GunpowderandFreedom
      @GunpowderandFreedom  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Good call, a waterproofing job with no french drain is basically useless. It definitely helps to prevent future problems. Also, thank you for not degrading the work that the waterproofing guys did while you were pointing out the importance of a french drain. 👍🏻 I think you’ll like the next video! Merry Christmas!

    That’s a big part of maintaining a house, keeping water from penetrating and clear, clean drinking water in. Don’t think you’ve had a well drilled yet?

    • @GunpowderandFreedom
      @GunpowderandFreedom  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That’s what sucks about water, you never know it’s a problem until it’s too late! And yup, the well is drilled. It’s the video called “The Biggest Drill I’ve Ever Seen”. Thanks for watching!

    Merry Christmas to you and your family. Great decision to have a company do it. No sense of stepping on a dollar to pick up a dime. Any R value on all of that concrete will help in the future as well.

    This video also showed more progress! It sure is coming along. You've not seen any comments from me for a while because I watch your videos later on in the day on my TV, and I can't comment there. But I think your foundation and walls are made stronger than any regular house, it is almost a bomb shelter!! I think the double drains is definitely not a waste of money, it's added insurance against water seepage. Who wants to dig out the stone and dirt in ten years to redo the waterproofing? Smart, if you ask me. Paying the little extra to have the professionals seal the house? Heck yeah. Now I'll have to watch the Floating Step Action later today on my TV. I'm glad you showed the progress today on your house. It sure is going to be a forever home. Looks great Steve. Thanks for sharing.❤👍🙏

    Love the poured walls ( poured hundreds of them ) ICF,S are a big ugly time consuming mess in my opinion superior walls like your brothers are a great option as well . I prefer 2” of styrofoam on interior against the concrete walls…it’s makes a very cozy climate….looking good!

      @GunpowderandFreedom  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Isn't the tar sticky enough to hold the foam in place while backfilling, or is this a belt-and-braces situation?

    • @GunpowderandFreedom
      @GunpowderandFreedom  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      I asked that same question and they said sometimes yes but they didn’t want to rely on just that in case backfilling took a little longer. Merry Christmas!

    I'm old school. Tar is better. Happy holidays everyone I just wanted to say we all have our burdens to bear. I'm pretty sure someone has a dirty tree hugging hippie in their family that's going to have to come to the Christmas dinner. Just remember they are people too after you delouse/ high pressure hose them off at the door. Dear hippies, shave. Yours truly Dave

    I'd be concerned if the company doesn't want you to video, and the public see, what they are doing to their customers' homes!
    What in the world "liability" could be created by you video taping them working?? He full of hot air!!

    • @GunpowderandFreedom
      @GunpowderandFreedom  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I get it. Not everyone is comfortable being filmed so it didn’t really bother me. It would have been alarming if they said I couldn’t talk about anything they were doing or I couldn’t show each step after it was completed. I hope you have a merry Christmas!

  • @jaxsonhugh9334
    @jaxsonhugh9334 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Too much liability filming the guys working????😂😂😂😂😂
    Why is that? They don’t want their sloppy process shown??? A real professional WANTS their work shown so everyone can see the right way of doing things….

    • @GunpowderandFreedom
      @GunpowderandFreedom  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I get it. Not everyone is comfortable being filmed so if they made a mistake because they were nervous or worried about being filmed, now the company has to cover something that could be avoided. The fact that they said I could get information and show each step was good enough for me! Thanks for watching and merry Christmas!
