Watching PBB is better than any Netflix series. I am invested in all their personalities. Ray is the quiet champ. Jono is the go-to common sense/outside-the-box guy (Arlo's protege). Jay is the comic relief, etc... Erik/Jamie, you guys hired the best supporting cast. Brock might just become a fan favorite (Thank you sir for this mega house journey). Truly amazing to watch PBB's growth! They are on FIRE!
They are so multi talented also it's hard to find guys that can lay block do trim frame roof do tile. I mean his crew builds from the ground up on some projects hard to find those kind of guys. They seem to have loyalty also. You get out of your crew what you invest in them.
The homeowners you work with must really appreciate that you guys always think things all the way through, from the perspective to what it would be like to actually live in the space. Great stuff!
I don’t know about building something with nothing, but it reminded me of a saying at my work. “We the unwilling, led by the unknowing, have done so much, with so little, for so long, that now we can do anything with nothing”.
I am living vicariously through watching you guys build. I am Arlo's age and spent my whole career in residential construction. Blessed Christmas. All hail the algorithm.
I been saying this the whole time, but you guys picked the best client to work with. Team work makes the dream work, and it all starts with the first team member, the customer.
Fire blocking is like putting a plug in a chimney. It prevents the fire from spreading by cutting off the airflow to the upper portions so that its less likely to spread upward. This is why they outlawed Baloon Framing for the most part because the single long studs allowed fire to travel up the entire wall.
Jay, think of blocking like putting the lid on a candle. If the fire can’t get oxygen, it won’t spread that direction. If it does oxygen from below the fire stop will keep the fire from climbing the walls.
I'm so glad to see pops in your video, I haven't seen him in your videos but I haven't check way back. He must be so proud of you guys, my dad was a contractor/builder and I miss him so much! Much respect to your father, thanks amigos!
Big thanks Erik for putting these videos together. Don’t know how you manage to build all day, do family stuff, get outdoors and editor hours of video, but this Aussie sure appreciates it. Carpenters here spend more time building with block and steel than wood so it is satisfying to see something so huge created from lumber…
This is my favorite thing to do on Thursdays at work. I just got done doing crown moulding. Go to lunch and watch the new video every Thursday. Keep up the good work guys !
I see Jay has been watching The RoadRunner show again lol. ( if I lie down will the tractor go right over me and push me into the ground ) lol. watching old reruns of cartoons can be dangerous lol. only the Coyote was bullet proof. keep the fun videos coming
Love your Dad’s Honda Element. I have a 2010 Element. Great vehicle that will run for hundreds of thousands of miles if you do basic regular maintenance. Thanks for your fantastic videos, very informative and fun.
I would like to see y'all visit some of your past builds with the landscaping done. The Drs kitchen, Rays kitchen, the little house your friend was turning into an office, Erik's office etc.........
I built a 14 ft long " basket" box that slides on to the forks. Built a shelf on the back to hold tools and materials. 4 ft deep with sides. It is a great time saver not to mention safer to work on than ladders and scaffold. It is awesome when it comes to shingles and roof tear offs. All demo goes onto the box. Drive it to the dumper, dump and back to work. You will ask yourself why not sooner.
Love the video as usual. It seems like you went back to your usual entro, yeah! Yes, Jay getting ran over by a bulldozer will kill you. I think he was just teasing with that one but as we know it's sometimes difficult to know with Jay. A bulldozer is a lot of fun. I grew up on a farm. Daddy got his tractor stuck once and had a dozer pull him out. He decided he had to buy one. He did. He let me and my younger brother operate the dozer. It was a lot of fun. The upkeep was expensive and he sold it after awhile.
I would have been able to save you guys money! I work for the company you guys are trying to buy that telehandler from! I commented on a video a while ago about telling you guys I could help you out on a pretty good deal!
I believe this is the first time I've seen Perkins Bros use plywood I'm almost positive RIGHT JAMIE THE EVERYTHING PLYWOOD DUDE man I can't believe you're still bending nails on this house good for you guys. After two months on the same job I'm ready to move on AND YES THAT DAMN TRACTOR WILL KILL YOU LET IT ROLL OVER A TWO BYE
Hello guys and Merry Christmas. I love this show. I miss my days of home building so much....I went out and bought $6,000. of battery powered building tools including the 20' little giant ladder and even that orange 8' level Jamie lol 😆 Bad thing is there isn't much building going on up here in Michigan. Maybe in the spring, I hope. Thanks for the great videos.
Newsflash… if a decent fire breaks out in a timber framed building, blocking’s gonna burn anyway, it’s always about slowing the pace of the spread of the fire long enough to let people evacuate and stay alive.
On the interior walls below long spans, it is good to add a header or sheathed the walls to prevent the drywall from cracking at the ends of openings. Even though the walls are not load bearing, there is still vertical movement from the trusses that causes cracks in the drywall at openings.
Good work Eric. You is dead good at this videography thing. I realise it takes a tonne of effort putting this stuff together. I bet you are to pleased to find a new skill to complement your inherited building abilities?
Eric, get your dad the brush trimming attachment for the m18 and it comes with a shoulder strap. I’ve been using that weedeater for years and the strap makes a huge fatigue difference.
@26:26 Join the Army and find out! You go through what's called a Tank Confidence course. You squat, put your hands out as the tank lumbers toward you...let it push you over and let the tank roll over you. Then you dig a ditch, put some blankets on top and let the tank actually roll over you and you can feel the pressure and the rumble/shaking. When you get that close to a tank, your lizzid brain kicks in and some people have a real hard time with it.
Congrats on the last wall! It’s great watching the progress. Y’all do such great work, with building and the videos! Thanks for creating wholesome, entertaining and educational videos! Love that y’all keep it real. Our mom did the same underwear naming thing 😂 Always look forward to a new video coming out! Kudos to all y’all!
I bought the milwaukee weed eater and I decided to get a gas. The battery terminals overheat very easily. You can't really push it for very long. I get maybe 30 square feet before it goes into overheat protection. I might use it for light work in the future.
A 12 foot man basket that can be end picked, would also save a ton of scaffold set up time. you will never look back. But you will have to set up a prioritizing method for who gets to be the operator, and who rides the basket.
That comment with the sheer walls is spot on. NS builders had a similar design and they were able to omit the sheer wall because they used some Simpson wall product. They just posted a walkthrough video with their engineers explaining it all.
After watching your videos for so long this 60 yo woman has been able to take apart my microwave and remove a monitoring sensor so it stops tripping the fuse when I open the door lol I'm not kidding. If there's a will there's a way. Thanks guys for the awesome videos !
Fire blocking works by stops the airflow between floors and keeps the fire from running right up to the second story. In a perfect world, The fire would choked out due to lack of oxygen

Totally agree
They need exposure 😁
I totally agree!😂😂 I will turn off my Netflix just to watch a new episode ❤❤
I agree with this comment. One more thing about Ray….he has the best laugh for being a quiet person.
@@genezehring6057I’d say more of a giggle type of laugh but otherwise yes 😂
Brock seems awesome, and I guarantee you’ll end up buying that lift after you’re finished with the house 😂. You’re killing it on the editing Erik

Exactly fire blocking is to stop air flow from feeding the fire
Yeah, it kills the draft, the upflow of hot air
I LOVE that set up Johno's got with his tail gate the stickers are a very nice accent

Office looking at a dirt hill. That would be my first choice.
fill the column with close cell spray foam, make it even stronger
Fire blocking prevents air flow so you don't get a chimney effect that pulls the fire through the holes.
"I kinda want a bulldozer now"
ME TOO!😂😂😂
The Milwaukee pole saw is very good
So refreshing to see professionals using "tico" nails in the support plates.
Is that steam engine whistle blowing in the background from Polar Express?
Fire blocking works by stops the airflow between floors and keeps the fire from running right up to the second story. In a perfect world, The fire would choked out due to lack of oxygen
I think the fire blocking is more to slow the oxygen flow in the wall to try and starve the fire some.
