Tried this, and wow the chipping game has vastly improved. Shame about the driving which fell apart, however will look back at some of those videos. Can't wait for the spring to get those scores down
I'm working on the 6-8-10 chipping system, which is close to this. When chipping, decide how much roll out you need. A 6 iron should fly 25% and roll 75%. An 8 iron should fly 33% and roll 66%. A PW (10 iron) should fly 50% and roll 50%.
I’m working on 50:50 for everything with a SW , not many amateurs are gonna be able to flop a wedge with enough height or spin to stop it 80:20 , maybe on the odd occasion like a blind squirrel finding a nut !

Alex-I love the simplicity of the 20/80 method, but I am confused by the club selection. I have been told that GW, PW, 9 and 8 will roll 1, 2, 3 and 4 times the flight respectively. This would make me pull 8 iron, but you clearly demonstrated wedges effectively. Can you please explain?
They aren't too different really if you look at the ratios but the rule of 12 gives you a club number too. I would use that with the advice given here about how that plays out and how to get into the right mindset

i've been playing good. (For me) Suddenly, the other day, i began shanking my 56 wedge around the green. How can i stop shanking immediately? I've never had this problem.---I was tired late in the round. The first 14 holes were great. What happened?----Help!
Her comment about going into the bunker is ridiculous. A miss hit would put the ball in the bunker not depth of shot. Also, factor wind, grain, slope, dry or wet green, grass with or against ball at address, is pin on a concave or convex area of green. This is strange advice 😅
What a load of malarkey... I get the meaning, but NO NO NO!!!!! You cannot have 20% air and 8-% rollout with every chip. It just will not work. My goal was to get the ball on the green and rolling, because I knew what it was going to do then. It was not always 20% air/80% roll... If I am chipping with an 8-iron, the ball is going to roll much more than with a pitching wedge. It is just the nature of the loft of the club. His thought of tossing the ball underhand at the beginning is how I think of chip shots. Where do I want the ball to land? How much roll after it lands? What obstacles do I need to avoid?
You can't teach feel, so important you get out on the course when it's quiet (or if you've got a good short game area) and hit 2/3 balls from the same place to see what works and hit different shots/clubs
Hello Steve..this is a real stripped back version. If we are talking about grain we also need to take that into the lie to in order to play the shot effectively This is a simple version. I hope it helps

Yeah, completely depends on speed of the greens. He's chipping on summer greens there... totally different right now in UK.

Which ever method works best for you is the best method.

For sure! This is a great question wet and slow I would just use less loft to give the shot more forwards momentum
