You do a great job with the unboxing and assembly. My cleaning person said this is the best upright he has ever owned. I think I would prefer the Sebo Felix because it has a bypass motor and I like the power head.

I'm not seeing how or why Sebo, even now, doesn't have this on their website. But I am freakin glad they brought this over, but as a corded vacuum. I have 3 supralites, and two of them have just, gotten extremely loud, and on one of them, replacing nearly everything, even the motor, doesn't fix the problem.
I'm going to my local dealer to buy one, but it was because of their ad touting the CE12, that I could search for this and thus found your video again in the first place.

Interesting observation about the 'drag' method on the foot-operated power switch. As you know, we have done videos on this CE12 and also the UK BP60 cordless version. We even have one on display in our showroom, and nobody had yet noticed that is a better way to switch it on. I'm going to mention this to the Sebo rep here too. Good video.

Service manager here at ohio's largest volume sebo dealer, Darke County Vacuums. I love the new ce12 with only one complaint, the power switch needs to be IN THE HANDLE!
80% of the buyers in that demographic of vacuums are seniors that struggle with their balance and that handle switch is VITAL for them in turning the unit off . Currently it pulls away from them while trying to access the current switch. For younger folks its not a problem at all, but then again they're only about 20% of my buyers in that lite weight market.
If they put it in the handle I wouldn't even handle the tacony lite weight vacuums because other than the switch location the ce12 is SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY!!! ❤❤❤

I couldn't agree more. I don't think SEBO corporate understands the demographic of this particular vacuum cleaner. I was talking to them and they started telling me that they thought college students would buy it 🤣
Feel free to join our Discord server link in the description.

The reason the switch is there, is because if there is a brushroll jam, the clutch system you see inside, will catch and it then throws a lever or bar that switches the vacuum off.

Can i ask , what exactly is better about the sebo over the riccars?

I hope these machines will succeed in the market here. I really like how SEBO has come out with a direct air upright that's got a manual height adjuster, clean out port, easy access to the brushroll, and a true lifetime belt yet lighter weight. Not to mention that I really like the looks of these, it reminds me of a basic Panasonic upright lol. I know it's a fairly new design but I think improvements could be done eventually if they succeed in the market. Despite it's flaws like the power switch, I think these are by far the best direct air design out in the market today. And if these would succeed, I think SEBO should develop a small companion canister with this upright similar to Oreck and Riccar. That'd be easy to make I'm sure.

I believe these machines will last decades each if they catch on and are able to keep manufacturing replacement parts for them since they caught on.

Switches on handles are convenient but they add to mechanical complexity and manufacturing expense

  • @sprockkets

My observations, vs a Riccar Supralite, since I just bought one:
    1. This thing, thanks to its manual height adjustment, glides like butter. The Supralite can easily get bogged down on certain stuff. Easily the best feature since like no other lightweight vac I know of today has this feature.
    2. Pretty much the same noise level.
    3. Pretty much the same cord length.
What I wish it had vs the Supralite:
    1. 2 speeds
    2. A carry handle like the newer supralites.
I just took mine apart. Much better built. Ametek motor of course. Supralites are now a fully Chinese motor in them, not even a China made Ametek motor.
I think the Karcher Ranger is cheaper, probably because they didn't put in the soft start circuitry in it.
Also, my local dealer told me the reason why this has taken so long to come to the USA, and why it probably isn't on the website, is because they started selling these in Australia first, and they sold 60,000 of them already. It's been a big hit.

It’s an interesting machine that I wasn’t aware of until this first look video. It’s interesting that the impeller is belt driven instead of directly connected to the motor itself and that a separate belt drives the brush roller. I wonder if the impeller stops when the handle is in the upright position along with the brush roller. It appears that the brush roll is identical to that in my G4 and the one in the ET-1 powerhead. If so it’s a good option for my house with my wool area rugs when my Oreck finally bites the dust (or stops eating dust as it were.) I find it odd that Sebo only employed a four stage bag instead of their Hospital Grade level bags that they supply in the rest of their lineup.
I’ve had a Riccar Supralite that was troublesome where I needed replacements in the fans three times so I traded it in for a Miele Pure Suction canister that I use on my first having already floor purchased another Pure Suction for my second floor at BB&B before they’d closed. I was using my Oreck on my first floor for years and my Kirby on my second floor but then bought my Sebo G4 and was using it downstairs for a while until I got scared of ruining my glass statues when I was using the hose end attachments and it tilted so now I’m using the Sebo G4 upstairs, retired the Kirby because I’d too heavy and I bought a Riccar R25 since the hose comes out of the bottom but I didn’t like the machine and I had a problem with it within three months so I sold it on FB Marketplace and I’m using my Oreck downstairs again. It’s fifteen years old now and I expect that I’ll need to replace it soon. This looks like it might be a good choice. Maybe I’ll buy a robot for the kitchen floor after dinner and chill out for a change.

The reason that the brush roll being the same one as the one in my G4 being a good sign for me and my wool rugs is that I can switch the brush roll out for the green roll with soft bristles.

After re looking up the Karcher Ranger, it's obviously the same vacuum. At $200 on their website, it's a steal. I thought they were trying to cheap out and use some other brand because that vacuum was unlike anything sebo ever made.

  • @Jimmy_Moon

Do you think the switch is designed to to save stress on the motor at startup.
If you tilt the head oppersite to the switch, does it work better.
Basically, there's no resistance due to the brush roller not making contact with the carpet.

ce12 Is shown on Sebo's Canadian website. Any estimates as to the life of the direct impeller fan?

    • @LlyleHunter
      @LlyleHunter 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

I hope that it’s made of Kevlar or some sort of derivative like the Kirby fan is now. One thing that I noticed in the specifications is that the fan itself is belt driven instead of being directly attached to the motor. I suspect that it’s done that way to minimize damage.

Its funny because in the UK we get the cordless version but not the corded one, but other EU countries get both

  • @fracturedmind8124
    @fracturedmind8124 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

It is interesting that the fan isn’t mounted directly to the motor but rather the motor just drives it via a belt. But I can see that as beneficial as the motor theoretically shouldn’t ever get dust into it. That power button is super weird, but I’m sure if you buy this machine you will get used to it. Time will tell how this holds up but since it’s a Sebo I’m confident it’ll hold up very well. It looks like a great alternative to an Oreck or Tacony lightweight.

A thousand pounds in the UK. Guess what that could translate to for the US. As it is, the UK can get a full Sebo D4 Premium for around $650 or so dollars after conversion. We pay $1400 for the same vacuum.
      As to why.....???

Stripes, a flame stitch, something psychedelic,,,, ya know, something that identifiable as a Sebo product. I might buy it anyway because it’s not important but it would have been nice as a Sebo as opposed to a Windsor.
