    More than a quarter of world's diabetes patients live in China, making the country the diabetes capital of the world. Yet only 39 per cent of the nation's estimated cases have been diagnosed. In 2017, the disease led to the deaths of about 843,000 people, state broadcaster CGTN reported. So why is China now facing the world’s largest diabetes epidemic, and what can be done to tackle the problem?

    Likely a few reasons why it is growing in China. 1. More diagnoses. Likely people were not tested and diagnosed for diabetes decades ago nearly as much. 2. Diets. Diets are much worse than in the 90s with all kinds of poor foods.

    As i see it, most of the diabetes in China, being Type 2, has developed as an onset diabetes in the elderly, who rarely even know they are suffering from this. I believe a lifetime of eating rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner, coupled with the reduced output of the pancreas being age related after a lifetime of struggle producing sufficient insulin, is the root cause. This rice, being hi GI carbohydrates is converted to sugars very quickly, with the body unable to produce enough insulin to absorb it as energy. In China, it is not a result of lifestyle change, or eating fastfood. It can be controlled with a change of diet, lowering the carbohydrate intake.

    • @blendedtonesable
      @blendedtonesable 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Japan, India and other Asian nations eat rice daily. Rice is NOT the culprit and has not been for centuries. Eating processed western foods as well as more FRIED foods is the leading cause. Also, most Asian cultures tend to eat fermented foods which helps the stomach pH in processing. Unfortunately with the western diet they are slowly abandoning this habit.

      @@blendedtonesable how does fried food relate to diabetes?

    • @blendedtonesable
      @blendedtonesable 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jessw391Simply put; Fried foods are usually breaded with some type of flour which is a carbohydrate. Carbohydrates will convert to sugars in the body. Elevated sugars are a culprit of diabetes.
      The oils used in frying present a raised cholesterol count. Cholesterol in some cases over time will help to clog or harden the artieres. Poor circulation is another culprit of diabetes.

Couple it with less exercise and boom, you get yourself into a diabetic situation. I was the overweight person thanks to this and lack of understanding about diabeties. Energy level low without food, obese, self esteem issues and what not. Then I left all of these fast foods and stick to homemade food (Indian dishes which have rice, what, pulses, chicken and whole lot of veggies). It been 3 months of me doing this along with IF and I have shed a significant portion of my weight. I am pretty much sure I was pre diabetic prior to this (as my both parents have dibeties) but now I am happy that my blood sugar levels are ideal.

    To prevent diabetes:
    1. For Asian: control your rice consumption. Don't eat too much rice and don't eat all 3 times a day. Also control your sweet drinks consumption, especially those boba/jelly drinks.
    2. For Western: control your junk food consumption. Not only it causing diabetes in the future, but also cholesterol, hypertension, and heart attack. Same as Asian, control your sweet drinks to such a cola/soda, milk, etc.
    Do physical exercising at least 1-3 times a week. Don't have a time? At least do 15 minutes exercise like aerobic so just turn on your TV screen. Or take a walk at least 20 minutes when you go to work. Move your body so your muscles can use those sugar in your blood as the energy.

    So many fallacies in this video. Once you are diabetic is is not "out of control". In early stages it is very much controllable...in fact it is reversable. Secondly, you don't "need" carbohydrates to survive. In fact the introduction of carbs into the human diet is relatively a new thing. Again...its not necessary chronic and a "life long" issue.

    Actually, the CCP could do the world a big favor and research the cause and publish the data for free. Perhaps an artificial ingredient widely used? It's not 'American fast food' as some suggested. Japan had American fast food for a lot longer than China. (are chubby girls culturally attractive in China? I personal think so, but I don't know if that's a general consensus in China)

    Eating meat linked to higher risk of diabetes -- ScienceDaily. Higher intake of red meat and poultry is associated with significantly increased risk of developing diabetes, which is partially attributed to their higher content of heme iron in these meats.
