How can people watch performances like this and still say Anette can't sing live? She absolutely can, when given material that fits her voice and was written for her!
For me I started in the Tarja era. But I gave Annette a chance and I like her time with nightwish. It took me awhile to get used to having Floor as the singer but the more live videos I watched with Floor I now enjoy having Floor as the singer.
Me too. I start with Amaranth song. Just then I discovered Tarja & Floor. I think Annette voice is sweet. I love all 3 of them. Each of them got their own song I like. Like Annette I love her sing The Crow The Dove The Swan. Tarja I love her sing most of the songs in her nightwish era. And for Floor, I really love Greatest Show on Earth.
I've listened & viewed songs like Romanticide, Story Time, and Last Ride of the Day, which both Annette and Floor have performed live with the band and I've got to tell you Lauren, the band performed all those songs much, much better with Floor Jansen.
+Don Ceballos and I agree, Floor has to be my favourite out of them all. But I think Anette is good too, maybe not AS good, but still good. I like her voice and the music they produced with her but then again that's just my opinion

I think The same ... clearly in dark passion play she was force to sing higher and higher... over her normal vocal range and about the old songs those that were written for soprano’s voice and opera style ... weren’t adapted properly for Anette’s voice ... but in imaginearium thinks changed a lot and at least for me it’s one the best Nightwish’s album
I will miss Anette. This was her album. DPP was great too. Keep in mind everyone, the choice to have Anette join Nightwish was their choice and you should respect it. She didn't trash Nightwish or damage it. The band is doing great or we wouldn't see these great turn outs.
When Anette joined nightwish I gave her a chance and I am happy that I did. She was good in her time with nightwish. I was upset when I learned that she was no longer in the band but I gave Floor a chance and I like have Floor as their singer

A very disrespectful question indeed, and Tuomas couldn't really answer any other way without coming out as a dick. This being said, I swear Dark Passion Play was tailored for a singer such as Floor. Every song on there she performed (aside from maybe Amaranth), she breathes a new life and energy in. They'll never do it, but I wanna hear that album in full with Floor powering through it.

i agree. all of the garbage given to her over the years. she was wonderful, whimsical. she was an awesome addition to nightwish. i hope she moves on to do her own stuff. she is amazing!
Doug Siders at the time, when she was upset with the band upon leaving, she requested not to be in any dvds as she felt they would use it to make her appear like the 'bad guy' as they supposedly did with Tarja. She seems to have been, somewhat right, in that in the 'showtime,storytime' dvd, there is a clip where Tuomas and whoever is filming, are shown laughing at a comic strip where someone is jokingly stating 'this is where we keep all the previous nightwish singers' or something like that, and it shows a bunch of old or fat women in a barn stable, with emphasis on one who has a tshirt that says 'rock' on it. I feel like it was a shitty jab at Anette, to even have that joke on a dvd, its likely not an issue now, but it makes you wonder. They STILL have all the dvd quality footage of her, and maybe at some point the band will make peace with Anette (since she seems to be over the past drama, even having some pics somewhere of her standing with Floor in a happy picture). If they make peace face to face, or even online, maybe another dvd will be released, we can only hope so. I dont think anyone wants to hold a grudge, regardless what was joked about and what wasn't, but we can only hope for the best, at the very least, both sides are happy it seems, that is what matters.

+Chloe Welch In a less heard of interview ,written down, not in video, Anette answered something in relation to Floor; Thomas has in fact asked her months ahead of time if she'd be comfortable with Floor Jansen replacing her should she ever be unable to perform. While I'm sure she's moved on from all this, as the rest of the band has , she's even had a peaceful connection to Floor who said she enjoyed what Anette brought to the band, so despite the past drama, whatever the actual reality of what happened is, as fans the best we can do is move on, cause really, the truth is between the members, and any article out there is still a potential 'story' from either side. In the meantime, I love all of Nightwish now, though I'll admit EFMB didn't really grasp my attention much but it is a great album and Anette is still making music and performing nightwish songs (such as amaranth, sahara, and last ride of the day) so we have that at least, now as fans the best we can do is just support them all happily.

Amazing vocals I prefer all the Imaginaerum songs with Anette´s voice than Floor´s, she is really sweet and powerful, it´s a shame doesn´t exist more videos with Anette on tour...
Anette and Nightwish was and is not a match. That's why there are so little videos of her with Nightwish. It's what Tuomas said in a video about Floor, she's at home! Anette was never at home when she was in Nightwish!
Anette's awesome. She's the reason I started listening to Nightwish I just recently saw Nightwish with Floor, and she was incredible but there are certain songs like "Sahara" and "Amaranth" and this song I prefer Anette's version. Floor did destroy on stage , she had the crowd in the palm of her hand.
I agree, I love floor with all my heart (and Tarja and Anette) but when I saw Nightwish live and they sung Sahara, it was good but I couldn't help but miss Anette

Is so damn unfair, in those times the cellphone´s technology was barely good, so we don't have a lot of videos that could make justice of what a great singer is Anette with NW like Floor does.. or a dvd of an amazing concert... really unfair..
Imaginaerum is one of their best albums, at however talented Floor is live, Anette will always sing her songs better. (Pity this album isn't on spotify D: )

@@andypick7533 That is a widely known fact. They had no issues with Anette, apart from fanboys always demanding more and more older songs in the set lists, songs Anette could not possibly perform. And I think they wanted something different. An opening presented itself when Anette got sick (if you can call it that) and they took it. Or rather, I am pretty sure Tuomas took that, the rest of the band really had no issues with Anette at all. Empuu has stated numerous times these last 7 years they are still friends. The issues here is Tuomas, and since he is the de facto boss of the band, he decides. It was the same with Tarja. Empuu and Marko is still friends with her, and they have contact, but the problem was with Tuomas. He sort of hits a reset button every once in a while. Wonder how long it will last with Floor until he does it again.. lol.
@@michaelvedal1907 I highly suspect the move to Floor was not as sudden as it may seem. They had played in the same venues before. The fact that Floor was able to fly to the United States on a moments notice and learn the set in 48 hours, leads to believe this was a pre arranged possibility. Annette did not fit the music Tuomas wanted to write - in several songs, Annette would step back, letting the recorded backing vocals take over. Floor sings those parts herself, as she has the range that Annette does not possess. Also, in the early days of concerts leading up to and including Wacken 2013, when Floor began to adapt the songs to her abilities, you can see the massive smiles on the faces of all band members when she hits levels never achieved by Annette nor by Tarja. They know that they had hit a gold mine with her and don’t for a second think they weren’t in on this with Tuomas - even Troy alludes to it in the documentary. Don’t think Floor is leaving. The band loves her, she calls them her brothers, she travels with them and doesn’t act like a prissy prima donna, in either use of the word - she works with the band, on and off stage.
Agreed. Annette's voice is so smooth and clean. Perfect for this album. When you listen to the song Imaginareum, you can hear the instruments and envision her singing the words.
I admire the musicianship of the entire group. The writing ability of the songs to capitalize on the strengths of each of the members is what sets Nightwish way above it's contemporaries. Annette is a very talented lady who pulled off the vocals on a very difficult album with true professionalism.
Yeah, Anette was the second singer, the first one was Tarja Turunen, Anette was in the band since 2007. Actually the singer is Floor Jansen. I don't know which CD recommend to you because they're all really awesome :D But if you want to listen a song with the old singer, you can listen "Nemo" or "Wish I Had An Angel" :) And if you want to hear the bassist sing, listen "The Islander", "While your lips are still red", it's beautiful songs :)

@ProdicalSon666 No need to regret that. I personally preferred their Anette era tbh. Seems they could make much better songs when she was in the band. Endless Forms is just mediocre at best, with The Greastest... being one of the only tunes worth listening to. How they missed out on making history with Floor as a vocalist on that album is beyond me. Now, i do like Floor though. Saw her many times with After Forever, and I do think she is a good match for Nightwish. Also she has amazing stage presence, which is the first one to have that, as Anette was just crazy. But the way they get rid of vocalists is just mean and stupid. They did the same with Tarja back in the day, and it didnt sit well with the fans. This time, I think they backed them up since they rather have Floor than Anette.. lol. But still, miss that Swedish woman...

Floor is one of the best female metal singers, but Anette had a sweetness to her voice that was perfect for those two albums. Imaginaerum is my favorite Nightwish album.
I was on two of her concerts last and this year and she talked with the crowd, spoke to us, called us to do stuff like clapping or so. She didn't do this when she was with NW and in my opinion that relationship with the people is important, because after all we are the ones who make these guys rich and famous. If we weren't there to buy their stuff, they wouldn't have their dreams come true. So we actually deserve to receive attention, it's their way of saying "Thank you".
WOW. Anette is stunning, she looks gorgeous sounds fantastic, Nightwish really gained a gem. It is ironic that people would criticize her on this song of al things, Anette is not a vacuous puppet participating in a fashion show. Not to mention the lyrics: An obese girl enters an elevator with me. All dressed up fancy, a green butterfly on her neck. Terribly sweeet perfume deafens me. She's going to dinner alone. That makes her even more beautiful. Or were you meat puppets not listening?
they are all amazing vocalist but I really enjoyed the fun that Annette brought to the band. she will be missed me for sure-I really hope she releases new material soon whether solo or with another band

Well, they got a very good vocalist now. Floor can really bring back the more operatic style of the band and in my personal opinion she has better stage presence than both Tarja and Annete. However, this two songs are really cool with Anete.
Lo Arlequin What i think about Floor is that tho she can sing both operatic ( resembling Tarja ) and rock ( resembling Anette ), she can do both but at just a good level..I mean she can't be as flawless as Tarja was at operatic style, since Tarja was focusing on that style, nor sing in a rock style as comfortable and cheerfully as Anette did,That is my opinion tho..What i know for sure is that it's high time Nightwish stuck with a singer so that we can relate to the band again..Singers aint T-Shirts

I support her voice in folk-oriented songs like Turn Loose The Mermaid or The Crow, The Owl and the Dove, but the rest is just ok. And she has to try so hard to even sing her song (Amaranth), she's not so strong performing live either.
I agree. Anette was a bit more "rockish" cuz she was never able to reach Tarja's high notes. So she took a different aproach. I'm not saying Anetteis bad, I think Nightwish was not the band for her. True, she tryed something diffrent. So did Floor in the end chorus of Ghost Love Score and the result was way better. I just like my vocalist verstail :p

I can imagine if this whole concert would've been recorded properly, it would be so much better than Wacken 2013! ... but there is no record of these amazing Imaginareum concerts with Anette. Floor hizo una buena versión en vivo de la Song of myself pero al escuchar esta me quedo con ella, la energía que trasmite Anette encaja con la esencia de la canción, no en vano fué escrita para ella, Floor tiene la mejor voz de la banda y la que más encaja con el metal, pero considero que Anette es parte de la era dorada de Nightwish, lamentablemente la banda perdió la fuerza que tenía. De Tarja es la inovación y la mística,la voz femenina que no existía en el metal en ese entonces, por eso su fama creció y creció hasta el Once.
All these people arguing Anette vs. Tarja are missing a crucial fact; they are two completely different vocalist and Nightwish still managed to rock them BOTH. Great band...end of story.
Anette's voice may be different from what we like for this kind of genre but you can't deny that she can control the low and high notes very well. Her low notes put both Tarja and Floor to shame. But I love all the singers.
Sorry, but her high notes are very shaky. Nothing unusual there as she is insufficiently trained to control her voice above her range. As for the low notes she does have the lowest register of the three so that's hardly unusual either.

She really worked on her stage presence towards the end of her career with Nightwish. Better outfit choices, and showing more energy.

sometimes the Sky is piano black.. this part alone is worth all her time in the band. so emotional. I miss you Annette.

She's the reason I started listening to Nightwish
I just recently saw Nightwish with Floor, and she was incredible but there are certain songs like "Sahara" and "Amaranth" and this song I prefer Anette's version.
Floor did destroy on stage , she had the crowd in the palm of her hand.
I agree, I love floor with all my heart (and Tarja and Anette) but when I saw Nightwish live and they sung Sahara, it was good but I couldn't help but miss Anette

I started to listen to nightwish because of Tarja but I gave Anette and Floor a chance and I liked when Anette was the singer and I like having Floor as their current singer.
Is so damn unfair, in those times the cellphone´s technology was barely good, so we don't have a lot of videos that could make justice of what a great singer is Anette with NW like Floor does.. or a dvd of an amazing concert... really unfair..
Imaginaerum is one of their best albums, at however talented Floor is live, Anette will always sing her songs better. (Pity this album isn't on spotify D: )

Yes, I do. I’ve said this many times. When I listen to Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum, I don’t think there is another person who could have sung those songs better than her. I really, honestly think so, and the rest of the band does, as well. That was not the issue.

@@andypick7533 That is a widely known fact. They had no issues with Anette, apart from fanboys always demanding more and more older songs in the set lists, songs Anette could not possibly perform. And I think they wanted something different. An opening presented itself when Anette got sick (if you can call it that) and they took it. Or rather, I am pretty sure Tuomas took that, the rest of the band really had no issues with Anette at all. Empuu has stated numerous times these last 7 years they are still friends. The issues here is Tuomas, and since he is the de facto boss of the band, he decides. It was the same with Tarja. Empuu and Marko is still friends with her, and they have contact, but the problem was with Tuomas. He sort of hits a reset button every once in a while. Wonder how long it will last with Floor until he does it again.. lol.

@@michaelvedal1907 I highly suspect the move to Floor was not as sudden as it may seem. They had played in the same venues before. The fact that Floor was able to fly to the United States on a moments notice and learn the set in 48 hours, leads to believe this was a pre arranged possibility. Annette did not fit the music Tuomas wanted to write - in several songs, Annette would step back, letting the recorded backing vocals take over. Floor sings those parts herself, as she has the range that Annette does not possess. Also, in the early days of concerts leading up to and including Wacken 2013, when Floor began to adapt the songs to her abilities, you can see the massive smiles on the faces of all band members when she hits levels never achieved by Annette nor by Tarja. They know that they had hit a gold mine with her and don’t for a second think they weren’t in on this with Tuomas - even Troy alludes to it in the documentary. Don’t think Floor is leaving. The band loves her, she calls them her brothers, she travels with them and doesn’t act like a prissy prima donna, in either use of the word - she works with the band, on and off stage.
Agreed. Annette's voice is so smooth and clean. Perfect for this album. When you listen to the song Imaginareum, you can hear the instruments and envision her singing the words.

I admire the musicianship of the entire group. The writing ability of the songs to capitalize on the strengths of each of the members is what sets Nightwish way above it's contemporaries. Annette is a very talented lady who pulled off the vocals on a very difficult album with true professionalism.
I'll never get bored with this. Nightwish has the best lyrics ever.

Yeah, Anette was the second singer, the first one was Tarja Turunen, Anette was in the band since 2007. Actually the singer is Floor Jansen.
I don't know which CD recommend to you because they're all really awesome :D But if you want to listen a song with the old singer, you can listen "Nemo" or "Wish I Had An Angel" :)
And if you want to hear the bassist sing, listen "The Islander", "While your lips are still red", it's beautiful songs :)

@ProdicalSon666 No need to regret that. I personally preferred their Anette era tbh. Seems they could make much better songs when she was in the band. Endless Forms is just mediocre at best, with The Greastest... being one of the only tunes worth listening to. How they missed out on making history with Floor as a vocalist on that album is beyond me.
Now, i do like Floor though. Saw her many times with After Forever, and I do think she is a good match for Nightwish. Also she has amazing stage presence, which is the first one to have that, as Anette was just crazy.
But the way they get rid of vocalists is just mean and stupid. They did the same with Tarja back in the day, and it didnt sit well with the fans. This time, I think they backed them up since they rather have Floor than Anette.. lol. But still, miss that Swedish woman...

They've played this one on almost all concerts with Floor and I think she does it very well, just like pretty much all other NW songs she's done :)

Floor is one of the best female metal singers, but Anette had a sweetness to her voice that was perfect for those two albums. Imaginaerum is my favorite Nightwish album.
I was on two of her concerts last and this year and she talked with the crowd, spoke to us, called us to do stuff like clapping or so. She didn't do this when she was with NW and in my opinion that relationship with the people is important, because after all we are the ones who make these guys rich and famous. If we weren't there to buy their stuff, they wouldn't have their dreams come true. So we actually deserve to receive attention, it's their way of saying "Thank you".
WOW. Anette is stunning, she looks gorgeous sounds fantastic, Nightwish really gained a gem. It is ironic that people would criticize her on this song of al things, Anette is not a vacuous puppet participating in a fashion show. Not to mention the lyrics:

Well, they got a very good vocalist now. Floor can really bring back the more operatic style of the band and in my personal opinion she has better stage presence than both Tarja and Annete. However, this two songs are really cool with Anete.
Lo Arlequin What i think about Floor is that tho she can sing both operatic ( resembling Tarja ) and rock ( resembling Anette ), she can do both but at just a good level..I mean she can't be as flawless as Tarja was at operatic style, since Tarja was focusing on that style, nor sing in a rock style as comfortable and cheerfully as Anette did,That is my opinion tho..What i know for sure is that it's high time Nightwish stuck with a singer so that we can relate to the band again..Singers aint T-Shirts
since when Anette sing in a rock style? And even comfortably? I've never seen someone not comfortable performing in a metal band as Anette. I support her voice in folk-oriented songs like Turn Loose The Mermaid or The Crow, The Owl and the Dove, but the rest is just ok. And she has to try so hard to even sing her song (Amaranth), she's not so strong performing live either.
I agree. Anette was a bit more "rockish" cuz she was never able to reach Tarja's high notes. So she took a different aproach. I'm not saying Anetteis bad, I think Nightwish was not the band for her. True, she tryed something diffrent. So did Floor in the end chorus of Ghost Love Score and the result was way better. I just like my vocalist verstail :p
Poor Anette. She's never been loved as much as she should be, because she doesn't quite fill Tarja's shoes. I think she's adorable and amazing. ♥

Floor hizo una buena versión en vivo de la Song of myself pero al escuchar esta me quedo con ella, la energía que trasmite Anette encaja con la esencia de la canción, no en vano fué escrita para ella, Floor tiene la mejor voz de la banda y la que más encaja con el metal, pero considero que Anette es parte de la era dorada de Nightwish, lamentablemente la banda perdió la fuerza que tenía. De Tarja es la inovación y la mística,la voz femenina que no existía en el metal en ese entonces, por eso su fama creció y creció hasta el Once.
All these people arguing Anette vs. Tarja are missing a crucial fact; they are two completely different vocalist and Nightwish still managed to rock them BOTH. Great band...end of story.

Anette's voice may be different from what we like for this kind of genre but you can't deny that she can control the low and high notes very well.
Her low notes put both Tarja and Floor to shame. But I love all the singers.
Sorry, but her high notes are very shaky. Nothing unusual there as she is insufficiently trained to control her voice above her range. As for the low notes she does have the lowest register of the three so that's hardly unusual either.
