      @@Thercgeek Also I was very confused about the empty Y-lead socket inside and also the single cable coming off the AUX BEC with a servo plug on it. Thought something wasn't right and had to get someone from Horizon to call me to explain how the wiring should be! Didn't help that both the throttle and the ESC Y lead were both unplugged from the receiver out of the box, I got really confused!! Should really be putting a wiring diagram in the instructions. Anyway, It's built, just having a few issues getting 6S batteries in the UK at the moment, but they should be arriving this week. Can't wait to fly it!!!

    I don't understand the wing connection? How would it hold up after a season of on/off going to the field? How does it come apart?

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The outer wings pop on and off and there are two plastic keepers the provide the holding force. Works pretty well, and they seem pretty robust, but the airplane only has about 20 flights currently. They come off by rocking them back and forth while pulling outwards and that can usually unstick those keepers. I like to place my arm against the fuselage while I do that.

    Chris this is gonna be a strange question but how tight do you think the screws on the wing assembly should be ? Mine are quite tight but I feel like they can dig a bit deeper but not sure if I'm just rotating the screw slot in the fuselage doing that.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They should be secure in place, but they don’t have to be tightened super hard. Sometimes on the mounts on these foam birds you will start crushing the foam when overtightening the mounting screws.

    Thx for sharing! I wonder how easy it is to pull off the wing tips? They look pretty secure with the snap-in, and didn't see a good hardpoint to pull on to avoid big finger dents in the epo. What do you think?

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not too bad actually. I like to press one arm against the fuse and then pull on the wing with the other. You kind of have to rock it a bit to unseat it.

    Only issue with E-flite/Fms planes when it comes to paitwork, they never paint the white EPO!!! The same on the Phantom 4, the whole underside is raw EPO, and that is a deal-braker for me.

    • @dsarnson
      @dsarnson 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, the foam cell looks is quite evident on the unpainted white. But fairly small area, and could easily be gone over with some latex white primer brush-on, me thinks...

      @@Thercgeek I think so. I've had multiple issues where they completely ignored every single customer service email. Posted letters to the CEO even went unanswered. I gave them every opportunity to resolve the issues, but they just ignored them. I used to spend thousands with Horizon every year, but now I have resolved never to buy any of their products again. Difficult when they keep releasing great looking planes, but I will keep my resolve. That and the fact that this P51 is priced at $653 US dollars in the UK which is outrageous for a foamy of this size - it's significantly more expensive than the excellent 1.6m flightline warbirds (of which I have several)
