@@loulou3676 what's strange is that in most(?) of the games one of the early trainers will tell you it's because you "lock eyes" with them. Does that mean anyone whose eyes meet is obliged to battle? What if you wear sunglasses? Are blind people *forbidden* to battle?

Fun Fact: Agatha is supposed to be the ghost type elite four member, but all of her Pokémon are poison type, all of them. So she could have easily been the poison type elite four member as well.

i mean if they were legit mewtwo id have no issues doing it, im already doing a challenge run of gen 2 gold where i cant use the fight command so literally every battle is essentially just switching pokemon in and out until the opponent exhausts their PP and struggles to death.

This reminds me of a situation I found myself in the other day. I was doing a fully randomized run of Platinum and came across a trainer who had a Manaphy with Wonder Guard. My only pokemon was an Arceus that had no super-effective moves. It did have about 100 PP worth of moves though. Had to spam through every last power point just to OHKO Manaphy with struggle. Thank god it was Gen 4 and struggle was type-less as well as trainer pokemon actually having PP or I might have literally been softlocked. Yes I realize I could have turned off Wonder Guard but I wanted it to be as random as possible without making the game entirely unplayable.

imagine wonder guard anything with more than 1 hp. in the red adventure rom hack, Pipichu (basically pichu with wonder guard) can single handedly defeat a team of level 255 pokemons while being level 15 thanks to toxic

From what I hear the only thing that isn't incredibly broken in generation one is usually the cardtridge.

The story is typical Pokemon (don't know why the series is 25 years old and people expect different.) The series was made for children (don't know why people don't know this yet.)
The only thing that makes the games seem much easier is the addition of many mechanics that have streamlined the gameplay and so forth.
I beat these games long ago as a legally blind child who did not know what I was doing. There are folks beating this games with joke teams and mons, and posing ridiculous challenges that draw circles around the game's so-called difficulty.

God I really do love these videos. They're really very comfy and entertaining. It's just a shame that the production times mandated by such things (by no means a bad thing, pikasprey obviously does great work) and the fact that there only is so many softlocks and game breakers out there, limits how often we get to enjoy one of these.

Your videos are so nice to fall asleep to. I don’t mean that in a negative way at all. I have issues getting to sleep sometimes, and with the way pokemon is and how well you articulate your videos I can close my eyes and listen, and you’ve got such a nice voice too.

I love how broken Gen 1 is, with things that legit cannot be avoided being glitches in Gen 1, including, but not limited to
A.I. bugs (aka. I face poison, oh look, Agility* is a psychic, move, psychic beats poison, let's spam Agility*)
Badge Boost glitch - whenever a player pokemon's stats are changed (harden, growl, agility, ect) they gain another stack of the badge boosts
And the 1/256 chance that a 100 accuracy move will miss
I just love the fact that the devs realized the flaw in the AI that caused the original soft lock to occur, and instead of just fixing the AI they created a completely special case just for Lorelei. It literally would have taken less code to just fix the logic than it did to program a special case like this.
I disagree. It takes far less code to handle one specific case. The pseudo code for the extra case would look something like this:
If trainerID == Lorelei {
If weak(player, psychic) and not weak (player, water) {
Chose random move
}
}
Only five lines, and two of those are just closing braces.
"You may wonder why I chose Mewtwo for this" Because he's effin' broken in Gen 1, especially with perfect stats at Lv 100.
