Making a gill net for coastal use in a survival or self reliant situation. How to rig and tie the net to make a gill net with Fraser Christian from Coastal Survival.
Hi there , i need your advice for the best possible twine to use when making a net that will last me a very long time , i plan to make my self a keeper net = its what you place fish in while your fishing with the intent to release back into the water at the end of the day , also i will be making a very large landing net , it will also be used to scoop up anything up to a 25 kilo fish , there is so called twine made in India and China , some of the stuff is called polypropylene , some polyethylene and some simply nylon , i will not be looking at monofilament because it is basically fishing line and i know it has a small lifespan , any advice will be at the very least a start because i know nothing about netting materials etc , thank you for your time and your answer
Oh I got a really Important question for you. It concerns Using a Gill Net to fish in a river. Is it possible? I haven't found anything on it. I can see how the current would f up this baggy effect on the net you talk about in this video.
30 cm corner to corner....I think you need to check your measurement again on that one.
Perfect explanation of bagging a net ...thank you
I thought Gill nets were illegal in UK waters, I probably got it wrong.
Great video. Where can I buy 1/4" eye gill netting? I have been search everywhere online and can't find any. Any tip?

Nice one Christian, where do you get your materials from?
What is mean by 4×4 mesh
I'd go for a soft braided PE (inert in water) about 1.5/2mm, Coastal Nets in Bridport sell it.
Any net suppliers
