I'm very confident there will be no one even close. Takes alot of talent mixed with work ethic and no one's gonna work like he did. He has enough music in his vault to make a album for the rest of the century. This is his best performance of this song live I've seen.
Nina, very nice evaluation and appreciation of this musical genius. We are all hooked by Prince. So sad that his life was cut short...he had more music to give us.
So sad but so glad I saw him three times . Celtic Park Glasgow Diamonds and Pearls tour. Walking up to the gig his blacked out car passed me. Next I saw him he summer-salted onto the stage did the splits .. dragged his feet together and hit the first note right on cue. Astonishing. 2nd time we were on holiday in New York and he just happened to be playing 3 nights at Madison Square Gdn. Musicology tour. He was so funny, self depreciating .. fell on his backside at one point. Last time at The Hydro arena Glasgow he made that soulless space into a house party 🎈 before he even sang a note. We all knew what was coming. Genius. Can’t believe there are people who could have gone to see him but didn’t go .. and they love his music. You had to see him in the room.
One thing about Prince , I’ve always been the biggest Prince fan and saw him live 6 times in my 63 years, mostly in the 80’s. When he died in 2016, not only did I morn the man and the legend, I also mourned the fact that I would never see him live in concert again… 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🎸🎸🎸🎤🎤🎤💐💐💐
You understand he wrote his music, produced, recorded and arranged his music on his own and often played all instruments on his recording ? He was music and he was a genius.
The command of his range was just UNREAL... on this album, he really laid into his lower baritone range & it was just so incredible to see his versatility, especially being a guy known 4 falsetto.
I saw him 3 times live. There is no one like him, nor will there ever be. Another great performance with Rosie Gaines is the live version of Nothing Compares to You. Great reaction. Thanks!
greatest musician of all time - had the pleasure of seeeing him a few times - his live shows were legendary - Rosie, Gains, amazing vocalist his range and musicality was nuts - a major loss but so great to have been around at the time of Prince :-)
I was lucky enough to see Prince twice. His studio work was wonderful, but live, the arrangements and the musicianship of the while band always took it all order of magnitude up.
Whether or not you manage to react to any clips from Prince's "Sign O' The Times" concert movie for the channel, you MUST own a copy. It's the single most incredible piece of music/performance captured on film. I cannot stress that enough. Buy it, and spend the rest of your life studying it in depth. It very literally changed my life!
I am so glad you went thru your first Prince music experience. I love your attention to detail and comments on his and the entire band performance. Best review I have seen. Suggest watching VEVO original “The Most Beautiful Girl In the World”. A song that is not as complex as the song you just listened; however, its divine simplicity, harmony and voice arrangement have made almost every parent that had a baby girl or a sister, to recall such wonderful memories, like when I had my 2 daughters many years ago, as I sung to them this song, looking at them while on my arms. Beware, you might listen to it for hours to end. If you read the comments by others, you will see what I am talking about. Prince was a musical genius and I am so glad to have grown a par with him and his music. Prince, thanks for the memories. Rest in Peace.
Yup Prince was regarded as one of the best live performers of all time for a reason. It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night from the Sign O The Times movie is great (really anything from that movie), and of course Purple Rain live in Syracuse 1985 is one of the best things I've ever seen
Think you’re a secret prince appreciator?? Uploading on the anniversary of his passing. Prince was genius - writing/ arranging/ multi musician / producer ..... & performer!! So glad you did this 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Appreciate the reaction! This performance was from the 1991 Special Olympics, which was in Minneapolis, MN. Right after he concluded this song, he went right into "Baby I'm a Star," so if you want to react to that, it's on TH-cam(there's also a great performance he did of the song live in Tokyo in 1990). Another performance you can check out is his performance of "Kiss" and "Cream" on the Arsenio Hall Show in 1991.
Nina I am so surprise that you discover prince only now it was e genious did you know that on his first album for you 1977 he plays 27 instruments ? I am your best swiss fan .
His concerts during the Musicology tour were the best of mature funky Prince. Also check out his performances at the rock hall of fame. His own performance, not the famous guitar solo. No one owned the stage like Prince.
YES, MORE PRINCE !!! So many of his live performances are Legendary! Here's a nice story for ya: did u know Freddie Mercury (of Queen) had a Prince videotape that his friends had to watch regularly when they were around him! Freddie was a great admirer of Prince and rightfully so. Just sharing this because many people don't know this and also because sometimes people compare Freddie live with Prince live, that's all ... imo Prince was and always will be the best live performer of all time. 💜 O(+> 4ever
Lots of videos of him live. He released a concert video for almost every album. Sign O' the Times is my fav album/live video. Hot Thing is a scorcher. Enjoy!
You should really check out Prince’s vocal arrangement on “The Second Coming” from his 1982 Capitol Theatre concert which luckily can still be found here on TH-cam. For a while, it was one of the only Prince videos that you could find on here. It’s the first song of the concert and the vocal arrangement is absolutely amazing.
Best live performer, musician, vocalist, dancer, band leader. Pleasure of seeing him live over 20 times from 1990 to 2014. Highly recommend Sssh! Live.
If you haven't seen much of prince live you should watch she's always,in my hair and satisfied at Montreux jazz festival in 2013 and DSMR and Shhh at the musicology tour
You can Nina has a lot of musical sense and intelligence by her comments on Prince's musicality. Not many people would pick up on the stuff she did. Please react to Prince's cover of Play that funky music and his cover of Creep by radiohead
Check out Prince movie ( concert) version of I could Never Take The Place of your Man. Also in case you was unaware both Prince Parents was jazz musician from Louisiana
This is lke one of the sweetiest loving songs ever just give me chills lov prince forever for this one . Even tho he had other hits this my fav from him .
Always pitch perfect, with incredible dynamic range. His voice was his best instrument Personally I think this is one of his best vocals. And I happened to be there. The last time I saw him live th-cam.com/video/q3b9VZVUtho/w-d-xo.html
Once u start watching him live you'll never stop and you'll realize he was the greatest 2 ever do it hands down. Shhhh Japan 2002 or Detroit 2004 Creep Coachella 2008 Gotta Broken Heart Again 2002 Las Vegas Question Of U 1990 Tokyo The Ride 2002 Las Vegas Joy In Repetition after show or any show really Lil Red Corvette Monterex Music Festival 2009 I Want To Be Free 2010 Denmark Girl NSJ 2011 I could go on for days
There is an UNIVERSE of great performances by Prince. Enjoy the journey. My recommendation : The 3 Gigs of: Prince live in Montreux 2013. All available herr in YT.
Hello, my dear - please listen to and see Prince's other hits - such brilliant ones as "Diamonds and Pearls", "Kiss" "1999" and all the other world songs. A treat ...
The Cross, Gold…any Prince tune, damn it’s so hard to choose. Each Prince song is my favorite Prince song. By the way, I’m a 80s metal head. There’s just nothing like Prince. Days Of Wild. The Ladder…I need to stop
I think Prince was never fully appreciated as a great vocalist. Maybe because his 'strange' image put a lot of people off? The public tended to stick to 'safer' artists like Madonna & Michael Jackson who did put on great shows, but I still say Prince was the best performer I'll ever see in my life. He could do everything. A genius.
That was rosie gains on vocals at the start harmonising. Prince and rosie traded solos and harmony on this song. This is one of many favourites of Prince songs. ❤ RIP As a side, this particular song would not be as good without rosie gains. Rosie is really the star In this song. Prince was such a sharing person.
You have years of Prince to unpack.chk out The Ballad of Dorothy Parker.. (live), Adore, Electric Intercourse, Sometimes It Snows In April and We Can Funk.
He AMPS the performance up with another song after Diamonds and Pearls. The FULL performance can be found here th-cam.com/video/QO_GXMW5PD8/w-d-xo.html
Once you dive into Prince live performances you start to realize there's no one like him around and won't be for a long time.
I doubt we'll get anything like him again.
I'm very confident there will be no one even close. Takes alot of talent mixed with work ethic and no one's gonna work like he did. He has enough music in his vault to make a album for the rest of the century. This is his best performance of this song live I've seen.
There will never be another...The #GOAT
Stevie wonder
Bruno is doin his best lol
Nice breakdown of the arrangement and harmonic content, Prince was a master of harmony, would love to have more on this.

I was lucky enough to see him twice. I think of him as the best performer ever.
It makes her smile throughout the whole video. That's a masterpiece.
The rabbit hole goes deep, Nina. Believe me. You are just scratching the surface.
😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
One thing about Prince , I’ve always been the biggest Prince fan and saw him live 6 times in my 63 years, mostly in the 80’s. When he died in 2016, not only did I morn the man and the legend, I also mourned the fact that I would never see him live in concert again… 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🎸🎸🎸🎤🎤🎤💐💐💐
Saw him live 18 times. Truly unbelievable performer. The best of our time.
Prince is the greatest live performer/musician of Alltime! 🤘🏾
You understand he wrote his music, produced, recorded and arranged his music on his own and often played all instruments on his recording ? He was music and he was a genius.
I believe the light vocals at the beginning was Rosie Gaines
Thank you for pointing that out.
Yes it was.
Prince could absolutely hit those notes, but you can tell it's Rosie's timbre pretty easily. Prince's voice wasn't as soft.
The command of his range was just UNREAL... on this album, he really laid into his lower baritone range & it was just so incredible to see his versatility, especially being a guy known 4 falsetto.
Oh Prince is the Goat Live no one can ever compare...ever
He was in a league of his own. Otherworldly talent.
One of my favourite songs of all time
I saw him 3 times live. There is no one like him, nor will there ever be. Another great performance with Rosie Gaines is the live version of Nothing Compares to You. Great reaction. Thanks!
Now you're hooked aren't you? Welcome to the Prince family girlfriend:)
Motherless child is a fantastic performance by Prince.
It's a complete master-class in the art of performance.
And shows what a gifted band leader he was.
Fact!
greatest musician of all time - had the pleasure of seeeing him a few times - his live shows were legendary - Rosie, Gains, amazing vocalist
his range and musicality was nuts - a major loss but so great to have been around at the time of Prince :-)

100% agreed
Prince is and always will be the epitome of GENIUS! 💜
Prince was a great band leader & arranger, this doesn't get talked about much but it's part of his legend status.
The first vocal was Rosie’s btw.
🎯🔥🎆🎇🥵💯🙌🙏🙏🙏

This is nice to see even today, exactly 5 years after his death.
Appreciate the reaction! This performance was from the 1991 Special Olympics, which was in Minneapolis, MN. Good catch and awesome he helped kick off the special olympics.
The best live performer ever, by a margin.
Nina I am so surprise that you discover prince only now it was e genious did you know that on his first album for you 1977 he plays 27 instruments ? I am your best swiss fan .
And a self-taught musician to boot.
She seems to know Prince (she knows who is Rosie Gaines, that says a lot) quite well but she didn't know about this performance.
This the best duet ever it ain’t even close
Prince was made sure he always had his band on the same page u should hear some of his practicing the sessions are long and detailed
His concerts during the Musicology tour were the best of mature funky Prince. Also check out his performances at the rock hall of fame. His own performance, not the famous guitar solo. No one owned the stage like Prince.
Morning Paper, Eye Hate U, Dam U and The Most Beautiful Girl In the World. I think these songs really highlight his range.
Totally agree with these choices. Especially "Damn U": th-cam.com/video/Box4XDvBSgE/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Prince

I think I prefer to hear him live over the recorded version. He was just an amazing artist.
Emotional performance. Always get water eyes when Rosie hits that note
Rosie ❤🎆🎇
Best live performer, musician, vocalist, dancer, band leader. Pleasure of seeing him live over 20 times from 1990 to 2014. Highly recommend Sssh! Live.
Thanks for pointing out the intricacies. It's best to watch someone who hears everything. That's you.....R.I.P Prince. A one in a trillion......No cap

He was generous with allowing band members to shine.
Miles Davis said Prince "...can be the new Duke Ellington.." God bless them both.
nina u should hear this during rehearsal it sounds great check it out
first time Prince reaction really? HER reminds me a lot of Prince, somebody to watch out for.
Yes she said he is her biggest inspiration
In the beginning-the "high range" was the keyboard player Rosie Gaines.
Nina, great reaction. You are a music lover, for sure. Please listen to Forever in my Life live.
There is an UNIVERSE of great performances by Prince. Enjoy the journey.
My recommendation : The 3 Gigs of: Prince live in Montreux 2013. All available herr in YT.

He was a very accomplished arranger.
A masterpiece arrangement!
In conclusion... I'm glad you appreciate Prince the way that I do, young lady ;P I wish you well and good times!
Hello, my dear - please listen to and see Prince's other hits - such brilliant ones as "Diamonds and Pearls", "Kiss" "1999" and all the other world songs.
A treat ...
This a song you can’t listen to only once
Do one on him singing the ladder rehearsal
That is just beautiful. So emotional and soulful, highlighting his lower register 💜
Rosie was special, One in a million🎉
"Thats Rosie right ?" ..... You better believe it babe 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜 💜
More Prince please!!!!!! : ) : ) : )
Do watch his performance of Purple Rain at the 1985 American music awards! Very emotional performance!
AMAZING
So many great Prince songs to react to, but how about "The Beautiful Ones" from Purple Rain. Love song that builds into a raw and emotional crescendo.
the first vocal we hear (on the high end) was Rosie Gaines
Try finding him singing the song Dam U, his vocals are stupendous!
Here’s the link to him singing live… Dam U
th-cam.com/video/iatjqC07xVA/w-d-xo.html
Genuis Masterpiece!!
The Cross, Gold…any Prince tune, damn it’s so hard to choose. Each Prince song is my favorite Prince song. By the way, I’m a 80s metal head. There’s just nothing like Prince. Days Of Wild. The Ladder…I need to stop
The first vocal part before the verse starts wasn't Prince, it's Rosie Gaines.
please Cream live you well love it thank you love your channel just found it today
I don't really need her to tell me this is fire.
Maybe once every few generations you get a virtuoso performer writer instrumentalist. We might be waiting for quite a while for the next one
It was Rosy singing at first not Prince.
A genius.
Rosie gains did the intro and harmonies on this, Prince's vocal range was very wide but he used great backing artists to match his.
Housequake live by prince the sign of the times version
That was rosie gains on vocals at the start harmonising.
Prince and rosie traded solos and harmony on this song.
This is one of many favourites of Prince songs. ❤ RIP
As a side, this particular song would not be as good without rosie gains. Rosie is really the star In this song. Prince was such a sharing person.
If I Was Your Girlfriend live from SOTT concert movie
You have years of Prince to unpack.chk out The Ballad of Dorothy Parker.. (live), Adore, Electric Intercourse, Sometimes It Snows In April and We Can Funk.
Prince is awesome. I have been A Fam since Purple Rain.
He just kept getting better and better. Always awesome though.
This is cool, but you have to check out the "Purple Rain Tour Live" to really catch him at his peak in terms of vocal and live performance.
Yes, everybody has to experience the "Purple Rain Tour Live" I agree!!
