    Totally sceptical about this. Was none too gentle taking my LG TV apart as this wasn't going to work, I had my new TV picked out already because baking bits of your TV in an oven is never going to work, surely. THIS ACTUALLY FIXED MY TV! It was very simple from start to finish under an hour and £500 saved. Thanks!

    It really works on mine LG 42LE5500 TV. Tried it yesterday thinking that I going to dispose the faulty TV anyway, so no harm trying. Unbelievably, it works and bring back my 8 years old TV to life. I covered the main board with aluminium foil before placing it into the oven afraid that it will further damaged my oven. Set the temperature to 200 degreeC and 10mins. Left it cool and screw back. Surprise everything works as per normal. Thanks!

    Unbelievable! IT WORKS!! My 55LE5500 wouldn't get past the startup screen yesterday but it works fine now! The kitchen had a hot electronics smell for a few hours but was OK this morning. I had my doubts but figured I had nothing to lose by trying it. When the startup went away and the logo screensaver appeared, it was fantastic! I actually yelled out loud!

    Wow. Just done this with our 49inch LG and it has worked a treat. I think we've had it 6 or more years so well out of warranty and probably not worth paying to repair but this has done the job. We'll see how long it last for but even if it's only a few more months or weeks well worth the minimal effort. Cheers for this original post.

    Thanks, I got an high end LG from 2015 and it had this issue with HDMI.
    I first tried an hairdryer for first 1 min, then 2min then 5min and it didn't help, baking at 200C for 10 minutes on paper towel and then waiting for it to cool down worked for me first try.
    Cheers

    You can add an old dead telly to the list of repaired via this route. many thanks. 200c, 10 mins, put a cover over it as was paranoid about the fan over air flow being more likely to melt some plastic component. Smelt a bit, but all good it seems!

    This hack worked for me and got my 55in led LCD tv repair after it got stuck at LG logo screen. Set oven at 350f (targeted for 385 because it runs hot and is old), after preheated, placed motherboard on piece of cardboard and baked for 10 minutes, after 10- turned off oven and cracked open oven door about 1 foot open to begin cooling for 10 minutes, then opened oven all the way for 10 minutes. After, removed from oven and set on table until cool to touch, then reattached it.
    Smell: yes, it smells bad, but i didn't have as much smoke and fumes as it looks like this guy did. Kids were in bed sleeping and it didn't go upstairs- we opened a door for fresh air, and turned on a bathroom fan. It was less powerful than food that falls in the oven and burns. It was a "hey- I can smell the solder now" strength. Not worth worrying about doing it outside, just make sure you can open a window or a door for fresh air.
    Thanks to everyone for your help! Pay it forward.

  • @josesantana561
    @josesantana561 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice video and explanation of the process. I only recommend that this is not done in a kitchen oven as the solder in the braze does contain toxic materials that can deposit on the internals of the oven as it's being heated.

    @jimdesantis2257 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Instead of using the kitchen oven, use a toaster oven and do it outside... Save your house from the stink!!!!
    just remember that 200C is about 385F... solder melts at about 365F... if you place it on cardboard and go above 451, your cardboard will burn

    wow I was very skeptical> but my 6yo LG wouldn't power up.So I was Quoted $400 as a repair ..or just buy a new one. either way no more LG for me ...will just buy a cheep machine next time . they will last just as long for 1/3 the price. ( its amazing that the LG machines seem to shit themselves just after the 5 years ) So I stuck it in the oven at 200 degrees C for 10 minutes and bloody hell it worked , even in Australia
