Walt being so annoyed with Skyler in the script scene was one of the funniest parts of the season.

Jesse was begging to forget and erase that horrible moment when he killed Gale, then there comes damn Walt forcing him to relive all that hell again in details: pure sheer torture, yo!
to the point he paid a couple drug addicts to remove Walt from his house... so crazy.
Maybe because he wanted to make sure Hank didn’t have Jesse prints at the scene… I live in a factual world not an emotional one, fact is they needed to talk about it so Jesse needed to put emotions aside, he’s a man ffs we live in a fact based world not an emotional one

2. Cold air coming out of mike’s mouth - Vince read about a movie where they devised a cage the actor held in his mouth that had a pellet of dry ice in it. The actor in that film had to speak & hated the cage as it made him mumble, so he removed the cage & just had the dry ice in his mouth - aaaahhh!!! He wound up losing part of his tongue!
3. Greg Nicotero’s company made & applied the piece for Mike’s messed up ear
4. It was hard to get extras who would cut their hair. They had a couple who backed out last second
5. It was Aaron’s idea for jesse to shave his head
6. Sketchy is the name of the character at Jesse’s who talks and talks. He was originally just supposed to be in ep 3, but they liked him a lot, so they kept him
7. The karaoke booth was a thing Gale went into in Thailand - like a photo booth, but it records you singing to a karaoke track and you take the video

I wonder if Vince Gilligan at one point ever said, "Okay guys, because this show revolves around meth, we are going to turn this show into a drug which produces the same side effects of meth from here on out." By the end of season 4, I felt like I was high on meth even though I've never tried it, I imagine it is an exhilaration of your brain chemicals firing on all cylinders at once.
Walter slyly smiles and chuckles, "You got me." Give me chills everytime. The irony of this scene.
Gale's making things harder on Walt. And the guy's dead. The whole script scene with Walt and Skyler cracks me up so much.
jmwild1 it was actually a very long scene for tv or a movie. It was 14 pages long and a long scene is usually 8 pages long
Yeah although there are cuts in the scene it is its own scene, but it still makes me think of Hill House and the 15+ page scenes they pulled off without cuts in Two Storms.
I kinda feel like the writers were having fun doing a take on bad writers’ rooms 😄
The amount of passive aggressive fighting in this scene is great! Yeah, I've had arguments like that before..
Skyler's fiction about Walt's gambling winnings is another stroke of genius from the writing team. Way back in Season 1, there were mentions of Skyler writing her own books and trying to get them published, and in having her write a story and cover the plot holes as best she could - it gives an opportunity for both the character and the writers themselves a chance to flex. 🤣
Me personally, i think the reason Hank didn’t laugh was because he’s just so focused and stressed to the point where he doesn’t find it funny
maybe but we've seen him fake it for others before... he was in full work mode in my eyes. -S
Nikki & Steven React i can see that. The work side and the family side of him are kind of at odds. He’s kind of on to him, but not at the same time haha.
5:30 ish - remember, that was the cop Marie broke down in front of. I think she explained the situation and he/they decided to try to help get him out of his funk
Actually the W.W. in the notebook meant nothing after Hank realized that the words on the page were a quote from the poem "When I heard the learn'd astronomer," by Walt Whitman. Hank didn't know the quote was from a poem and he didn't know what W.W. stood for until Walt told him. So if he was feeling suspicious that cleared everything up.
I'll believe that when I hear Hank give up on that. -S
You guys are best when it comes to reacting to shows at the pace you do it and discussing and analyzing it unlike some which take a year to get to the end of the series. Finally people are reacting to this great show.
Gale is actually quite an entertaining karaoke singer.

@@matthewaaron6 Thank you very much, I was battling in my head if it was Tuco or Krazy-8, I remember clearly now. Jesse was in a panic because of what we saw in the season one finale. Thank you!
Basically Jesse was in panic because he thought that Tuco viewed him and Walter as loose ends for witnessing Tuco killing No-doze. Jesse freaked out and bought a small revolver gun on the black market to kill Tuco, basically out of safe defense, so that Jesse could protect his own interest and dispose of Tuco before he would dispose of Walter and Jesse.
if you go back to that episode, Hank’s buddy clearly explains his motivations for not giving it to DEA and yes, it’s about keeping the win local.
But isn't it simply just out of their jurisdiction in the sense that they are investigating the murder of Gale, but the DEA would handle the evidence regarding the meth lab? The APD would want to catch the suspect (which could have just been a robbery or random violence), but the DEA would be able to use the meth info.

I love how Walter makes such a big deal out of the “terribly terribly” line but ends up saying it anyway 😂

Edit: there are 62 episodes in this series. You’ve watched 37 thus far. There are 25 left still to watch which means you guys are nearly 60% into the series! Still have 40% left of completely madness and greatness mixed in together!!! Cherish it dearly! Me watching your reactions is almost like watching it all over again for the first time so you know damn well I am cherishing it!
This was a pretty great episode, mostly because of Hank's scenes. He took the episode. You get the sympathy for him in the scenes in the hallway (…I'm here, if you need someone to lend an ear to), then the awesome full-press treatment when torching Walter on W.W.
A lot of priceless reactions during the long Walt/Skyler sequence, but my biggest laugh came simply from the idea that Skyler dragged Walt to a Gambler’s Anonymous meeting for research smh.

I agree that this was one of Hank's best acted episodes. The way he plays it sensitive in his situation and is happy to have his family over and bond with them while being depressed and lonely, and how he reacts to the gambling story and plays the nuances he needs to in order to execute the very fragile script details was perfect.
The detective that brought Gale's file to Hank did him a solid. Got Hank pumped up again.

I loved Nikki's reaction. It matched mine the first time I watched this episode. For one, I really thought Hank was suspicious of Walt, but Walt deflected well enough to let the thought go....And then all the little scenes in between, with cuts and details, and how it ended had me tensed up big time....My personal favorite part of this episode besides the Gale-Major Tom/"You got me" sequence is when Saul reveals the "Disappearer"- that shit is no joke.
This is where for me the show really began to get serious and not mess around with that kind of stuff. You think you're watching a pitch black comedy, but it surprisingly begins to implement the darkest, hidden realities of this world.
I'm reading down the comments and there are a few minor spoilers. It's a shame people have to do that.

After six years, people are still watching this show (even me), and some are catching up - makes me feel somewhat happy because I love this show so much.

I love Mike, his reaction to being shot is my reaction to my alarm going off on Monday mornings.
It's an interesting situation with Hank. He not laughing when he asks Walt about WW. So I think his DEA senses does hint a little bit at Walt, even if he doesn't believe Walt could ever do something like that, I think he may think Heisenberg would have a similar background to Walt. But Walt's his brother in law, his family, Hank loves him, so even if his senses do ping at Walt, he immediately removes him out of his head as an option. He can't phantom Walt be capable of something like, or someone he loves betraying him in that way.
The show did an excellent job at making Mike's ear injury look REAL. (I think there would have been a lot more bleeding, but otherwise very good).

Walt can’t stand to let anyone take credit for his work, to the point of his own detriment. Now he’s put it in Hanks head to keep looking for the real Heisenberg. That was a terrible move! I loved the look on Walt’s face when Hank played the dvd. That was so good! Poor Gale. 😢

I kind of figured that Bogdan(?) didn't push the issue with the Skylar's "inspector", because he was bribing his regular inspector. He might not want a red flag placed on his business. Anyway...that's what I thought.
As far as Gale's case, the APD is working a murder case - that's all they know, so that's what is being inspected right now. But, because of the notebook, the detective needed Hank's insight. Plus, I think he wanted to help Marie out a little by distracting Hank from his misery.
Walt to Skylar: "When you dab your eyes, will you do it with your left hand or your right?" That always makes me laugh.

Last two seasons aren't longer. They split season 5 into 8 episodes each, but they each feel like a season since there was a year of waiting between them.
I liked your pre-episode discussion about Skylar and the fake inspector and how risky that was. She probably should have taken the Scooby-Doo approach instead - tried to convince him the car wash was haunted. That would've worked better.

Fun fact, the methhead's story about being squashed through a chainlink fence was referenced in The Walking Dead at the prison, when the walkers piled against the fence, one of them was splicing through the chainlink just like the story.

I have to share an aha moment I had this morning while watching The Incredibles 2. We love the Incredibles. While watching I hear two familiar voice. Turns out that the guy who plays Mike voiced a character in the Incredibles and his job is basically to clean up any messes the Supers make and also the guy who does Saul lends his voice to the movie. It's really funny hearing them in a kids movie while picturing them as their Breaking Bad characters
I am in the middle of binging this series again. I have binged it at least 20 times since it ended. My favorite show, next to Better Call Saul. Masterpieces.

I get what you mean to an extent... but Jesse is young at the time and has a sensitive and caring soul. So, having to murder someone in cold blood is painful and traumatizing for him. Hes numb and, for a little bit, doesnt Care about his own life anymore and isnt thinking about how it could affect anyone because hes so broken and lost.
The reason that Hank doesn't catch on to Walt being Heisenberg is similar to boiling a frog. Hank has classified Walter, in his mind, as just a harmless and inferior nerd that is not a threat at all. He has missed all of the signs because Hank can't alter that perception in his mind.

When Daryl attempts to bring T-Dog’s fever down, we see him rummage through Merle’s stash bag. In the bottom of the bag is something blue. It’s Heisenberg’s trademark meth, Blue Sky. One of many Easter eggs to look for.

Lol I never realized how expert and meticulous Skyler is in whatever she does. And the fact that she is a perfect pretender and long term planing with ilegal stuff, Walt/Heisenberg feels rather small and threatened compared to her, because of his fragile ego. But Skyler is not trying to outshine Walter, she's just being smart.
I feel like Jesse is seeing Mike as a role model. He shaves his head, becomes a man of few words, doesn't show emotion, e.t.c.

And I like how it seems like you are being caught off guard by what is now going on. You sort of acclimated yourself to the slow burn pace of the show, so now with a cold open like that, along with the plot developments and some newly introduced details like Saul's witness protection guy (at a very high price), it has sort of shocked you....That's what it's supposed to do. You're not just going to waltz through the rest of this season or series. It'll grab you and suck you in deep, and there's not much you can do about it. Lol.

Jesse is in full on depression mode. He's partying constantly just to keep himself occupied and to keep from being alone with his thoughts. And as you can see he doesn't give a shit about anything. He didn't he had been robbed, he didn't care that Mike might kill the guy and he didn't care where Mike might be taking him. As Mike said, he's extremely un-cautious.
Hank is finally interested in something besides his own sorrow. He's fully in this case and trying to put together if Gail was really the guy he's been looking for this whole time and how deep the operation is. That's why he didn't laugh at Walt joking around, he's too preoccupied. But he doesn't suspect Walt.
The cartel has definitely not forgotten about Gus. Not by a longshot.

I've never understood why in Skylar's gambling explanation Walter would ever feel terribly, TERRIBLY ashamed of his actions. I mean he would have to have cleared over a million dollars to pay for his cancer, pay for Hank's rehab, and still have enough to buy a carwash. If your gambling leads to going bankrupt, that's an addiction. If it leads to you being set for life, it means you are a professional. Would you call all the players in World Series of Poker addicts? No, you call them experts at the top of their game, same as Walter would have been if this story was true.
That's just a way to say that he isn't doing it anymore (so no more "dirty" money from illegal gambling) and, the biggest reason of all: she wants to see him saying sorry, even if it's just for a script
