- We use our Champion 3400-Watt Dual Fuel Generator running on propane in a hybrid mode with our EcoFlow Delta II battery & Smart Extra Battery to power our fridge and other key items in our home during a power outage.
We've had it for about 4 years and the battery recently wouldn't hold a charge. So I replaced it as shown in this video.
There's a trick to install the new battery which I go over in the video.
IMPORTANT: You need to get the very specific battery that fits inside the Champion generator.

The NOCO GENIUS10 has battery repair function, which able to fix your old battery. My Champion 3100w dual fuel sat in shed for 5 years never use and has no problem repair the battery. I am surprise your model don't have battery charger port.
Thanks for the suggestion! That NOCO GENIUS 10 sounds good from the reviews I read.
I'm still using my old car battery charger/jump starter I've had for over 30 years. It still works, but maybe it's time for an upgrade.
@@BetaCygniBlog I ordered Eco Worthy 150ah LifeP04 battery for $168. My plan to use the Noco 10 to charge the battery and use as backup for router+modem. If you are plan buy Noco, post your message here and I will let you know it works on LifeP04 or not. I owned the Bluetti EB3A mini power station and the battery don't last more than 6hrs for router+modem backup. By the way, do you have the dimension of your generator battery? I could take off my battery and measure dimension, but little pain to reinstall.
will it pull start on propane with a dead battery?
Yes it will. I'm going to show that in an upcoming video.
How do you maintain the battery when not in use? I'm using mine for Hurricane season and occasional power outages, so it may go a year without use.
I run it every 2 weeks on propane to keep it charged, it also keeps the engine lubricated which is important.
Here's a video I did about having to jump start it after only running it 1/month for a while: th-cam.com/video/ZAZut91-TWc/w-d-xo.html
It's also important to change the oil after 5 hours of run time when you first get it. Here's a video I did about that: th-cam.com/video/hUL-o7B8tHU/w-d-xo.html
Then you're supposed to change the oil after every 100 hours of run time. I keep a spreadsheet with an entry for each time I run it and for how long.
I also put an hour meter on the generator in this video as another check for how many hours it has run: th-cam.com/video/AR0RZ-gckhE/w-d-xo.html
So far I'm up to 29 hours, so I have a ways to go. I'll probably change it sooner since I've had it for 3 years now and oil does deteriorate.
@@BetaCygniBlog Thanks!
@@bobbyb7127 You're welcome! Good luck.
The battery looks fairly easy to get to. I'm trying to find out where the battery is located on a Champion 4650 inverter generator.
From the diagram on Page 14 of the manual for the 4650 (www.championpowerequipment.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/200994-om-english.pdf) it looks like the lower left side of the generator where the plugs are.
