Wow that's great, I have a 15,000 BTU AC unit on my travel trailer and ordered this generator for the extra wattage and propane option. Looking forward to testing mine out, I'm pretty confident now it will handle the AC and a small load. Great video thank you
Yes it worked great on my 15000 BTU AC unit burning propane. I didn't run the microwave but this generator handled it well in econo mode. Anyone looking to buy one of these instead of a Yamaha or Honda go for it. Just be sure to do the 5 hour break in while varying the load, I used a hair dryer. Then do the initial oil change. The decible rating difference between them is a non issue. Great value.
Alexander Ashley thanks! I'm thinking of getting by with a 3100 watt since only have a 13500 btu ac. I wish there was a way to simply leave the generator on a tow hitch and not worry about exhaust. I don't like the idea of Wheeling it five feet away and also hope no one steals it
Lightning I leave mine in the box of my truck chained down when I run it I just roll back the tonneau cover. That way refueling is a snap too. I just fill her up when I do the truck. I find even the larger 3400 LP model is easy to throw around with the two handles on top. I drive a F150 EcoBoost and it fits under the tonneau fine
We have used the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!
Well here is my 2 cents. I bought the same unit about a year ago. Initially had an overload problem. Called Champion and we spent about 45 minutes troueshooting. They determined it was the control board. They NDA shipped me a new board. Installed it and did the same test you did. Worked flawlessly. Went on a trip from Texas to Arizona. Developed s problem with the carb. I got dirt in the gas. Champion shipped me a new carb at no charge to the P.O. in Tonopah. That fixed it. They also sent me 4 polo shirts and a cover for the gen at no charge. I'm here to tell you the quality of this unit is only surpassed by the Champion customer care. They are serious about it and will go to great lengths to make you happy. In total they have sent me 8 shirts a cover, a carburetor and a motherboard. I'm a big fan of Champion Equipment if you can't tell!
Thank you for your feedback. I haven't had any issues or concerns with ours, but I'm pleased to hear that if we do, they'll come through on their products.
I've been researching this generator and every video I've seen, I thought to myself: "Test the LPG with the AC and try and run the microwave". Never happened until you did it! Thanks for the awesome video!
WOW! I just purchased the same unit today. Along with the single fuel 2800 model. Going to pair them together to run my 50amp dual A/C trailer with a 15000BTU and 13500BTU A/C. Got home too late to try them out so I'm watching other people try them. Lol. I'm excited too. Lol
@@jasonviele1058 I ended up purchasing it. The regulator broke during shipping but they sent another. After the break in period and oil change we used it two weeks ago non-stop for over 160 hours. It ran everything in our trailer and performed flawlessly.
Congratulations on your new genny!! I know someone already said it before, and I agree, these are going to give Honda and Yamaha some stiff competition. We love ours. 160 hours in two weeks!! I love it! Thanks again for the follow up. I’ll be doing a year review on this unit in May. I’m looking forward to doing that video. We live in Oregon, and I can’t wait to get back out there for some camping. Have a great weekend!!
Thanks for a great video. I know I am late to comment but I have used this generator now for over two years and can report that it has always provides all the power we have needed when camping remotely. I have a 26 ft Rockwood Mini Lite and in the summer I run my 15,000 BTU AC, Microwave and TV, lights etc. , off and on and all at the same time during the afternoon to evening time for 6-8 hours in Texas heat and I am happy to report that we have had no problems. Whether we use Gas of Propane this generator consistently powers my entire travel trailer. Great deal on a Dual Fuel workhorse generator.
Thank you! This is the exact generator I've been considering, intending to run on propane, and your A/C is the same size as mine. Perfect test, answered my concerns, now I can pull the trigger. Thanks!
I have the 3450 dual fuel generator with the 224 cc 4 stroke engine . It has electric start and a wheel kit. Battery included . I have over 1500 hours on it SO FAR. I can only say that I am VERY IMPRESSED with these generators. I use mine to power up a 30 ft fifth wheel trailer and the built on addition . I got mine on clearance at Canadian Tire. for 499. It was a good purchase. Follow the maintenance instructions and you will be very happy.
Hey Jason, i bought a18ft BBQ porch trailer. with a 13500 BTU A/C unit., 6 Gallon water heater. i look at numerous generators everything from Honda, Generac, Yamaha Etc. You did a awesome video I'm Champion generator.i think im sold on the champion. you cant beat the price.
Hello Toby, Congratulations on that BBQ trailer. Sounds awesome. I haven’t looked back since I’ve purchased our Champion. We LOVE it. My buddy came out shortly after I took this video of the test, and he was astonished. He told me that his Honda 3000 couldn't have done what this one just did. I don’t know if it could or not, definitely not going to debate that, but for half the price of his 3000, I’m happy. I will probably do a follow up video to share sometime in the future on it too.
Thanks for the video.... but I am nervous for you when it comes to power usage. Running on propane you are only able to have 3060 watts- which is far below 30 amps (which is 3600 watts)- the running watts of the items you are using is just fine, because they are lower than the start up "surge" watts each device needs to get going (excluding the microwave). If you were running the microwave and the ac and/or refrigerator tries to turn on you would likely exceed what your generator is capable of. The reason you saw the overload flash when you ran the AC was exactly this start up "surge" that is needed. With a generator so far below 30 amps you will never trip a 30 amp breaker before damaging your generator. The safest way to power any system is to use a generator that is sized above the electrical system. In your case a 30amp camper should have a generator of 3600 watts or more so that you will always have enough power for anything that attempts to turn on in the camper. And if you exceed that number the main 30 amp breaker in the camper will trip without damaging your generator. Had you started the microwave AND THEN the AC you likely would have overloaded the generator and potentially damaged it. Be careful...
Appreciate the video, helping me figure out what to buy. I imagine the initial overload was due to starting amps peaking, then went down to running watts letting you do the microwave. But I’m glad that it’s running, AC is king! I might get it
Word to the wise. I have Honda's and this champion gen. Yes my Honda's lasted way longer. Due to I live off grid and use my gens everyday. My Honda's have 10k hours. I got two of these champions and using for three months one locked up and the other did at 7 months. I change oil faithful every Saturday. And champion would not Warranty them at all. They only run 6 to 7 hours at a time so that part sucks. Only thing I've changed on my Honda's was the pull ripe due to me using the daily for the past 7 years. And the plug an oil and air filter. Nothing else.
Bull fuckin shit. Champion customer service has been great, please explain to us all WHY they wouldn't warranty an item that is only 3 months old or 7 months?
Thanks for the review I just bought one of these and got it today still haven’t even taken out of the box yet!! But after this video I feel I bought the right one !! Thank you
I’m glad it was a help. I felt the same way after this review as well. Even a good friend of mine ofmtwenty years was astonished, and even said, “I know my Honda 3000 couldn’t do what your Champion did.” I recommend an hour meter on this machine. I have a video of mine, if you want to check it out. They’re worth the $10 to have a record of hours on the machine. Thanks for watching and replying.
I ran mine for 39 hours powering a fridge freezer, internet light computer and my CPAP at night on 4.5 Gallon 20 lbs propane tank... during an ice storm couple years ago. I love my little Duel fuel Champ. Propane is the way to go $2.45 gallon and no need to clean after each season. From How long will a champion 3400 generator run on a tank of gas? 7.5 hours Our 3400-watt inverter with electric start features Dual Fuel, allowing the 192cc engine to run on either gasoline or propane. Enjoy a quiet 59 dBA for up to 7.5 hours on gasoline or 14.5 hours on propane, and increase your power with the optional Parallel Kit which includes a 50-amp RV Ready outle
I have this generator. Ran it on propane for a couple of days after the hurricane this summer. I did not try the microwave, but it worked fine on the ac and it kept the fridge running. I think i was getting about 11 hours of run time on 20lb tank, but i dont think i had it on economy mode. 13.5k btu ac, 2018 forest river cherokee rv.
I have the same AC and generator. What you will find is the longer you run the AC the easier it is for the compressor to kick on. After maybe an hour I don't hear the generator ramp up at all.
That is amazing!! I just bought a 2019 Forest River Shasta Oasis 21k and have been looking for a really good generator (other than the expensive Honda's). Champion has really good ratings on Amazon but the model you have has really sold me on that performance test. Thank you for posting this video!
Great vid - Ok, so get this... I have the SAME generator except it's the 3100/2800 model (so less output than yours) - it's dual fuel, and it only runs 2520watts in propane mode. I have run the SAME test on my trailer. My 13,500watt A/C on, (no TV though) but I was also running my fridge on electric, and hot water tank. I had the A/C running (it does it no probs on propane) but then turned the microwave on. It bounced off the overload just on starting, but ran it no probs. That's with the 2520 model. **ALSO, I rigged it to run directly off my trailer propane bbq quick connect so you don't have to deal with a propane tank. It's super trick :)
Thanks for the feedback. I enjoy hearing what others are experiencing as well. That's a great idea, and I'm going to look into that as well for ours to tap into our bbq line. Thanks again!!
I went out camping three weeks ago, and one day it hit 100+ outside. I fired off the A/C with this generator, and I didn’t think it was any louder than the neighbors two Honda 2000s he was using.
Jason Viele! I believe it ! I don't have my trailer yet but thinking of buying the Champion dual fuel Generator now rather than later, the price is too good to pass up!
My first generator too great i use the propane as well for the price cant beat it i did the same this this gut did got home hooked it up and evrything worked no tripping or anything great product
Glad the video was a help. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as we do. I’d recommend an hour meter. I posted a quick install video on ours. Makes it nice for maintenance. Thanks for watching.
You research is good I have the champion 4750 is good..too heavy and ....I can say noise..when travel in truck stop only need one a/c for sleep....I think I gonna change for this generator
I tried the 3200W Version of this generator at 5000' in CO and it would not run my 13.5KW A/C on gasoline. Power reduction is estimated to be approx 3.5% per 1000 feet - in this case about 18% reduction. Something I didn't take into account initially. fortunately I was able to return the unit.
One of the big advantages is maintenance. I only run propane. Runs cleaner and storage is simple- no gas stabilizer etc. I have had it over a year and zero issues.
Just got one took it boondogging. It kept blowing the 20 amp fuse in my little camper that protects the converter. Have you ever heard of this occurrence? The camper works fine plugged into our outlet at home but blows the fuse when plugged into the Champion.
Not bad considering I remember when it was common to have a switch wired so you had to select either Microwave or Air conditioner in 30 AMP equipped RVs, yet this was able to handle both at the same time. Of course if the air conditioning compressor starts when the Microwave is running you may have an issue. A hard start should easily prevent that.
I am interested in how long that bottle lasts you? Curious too in whether Champion has hardened valve seats on the duel fuel model for propane use or if the gasoline ones are hard enough for both fuels? I see them at Bass Pro currently for $599.99 free shipping. Supposedly both motor and generator or made by Champion for Champion in the US at their plant!
Hey guy love the video... so if im looking at getting the same model you got, how or where on the Amazon product info about the generator do I find what the model number so that I get the right one , I looked but couldn't find model # i know you showed us the number but im trying to match up with Amazon so I get correct one?would you happen to know where I could find it 🤔 if not it's kool im sure its the same one...again thnks and awesome video
Thanks fir the feedback! There’s a link that I placed in the video description that’ll take you right to it. I just verified that it still works too. Enjoy!!
You are the first guy that actually showed it running on propane with a load! Thank you! I know you have not had it very long but I was wondering if you have a run time on propane actually running the AC?
You’re welcome. We haven’t had it long, but I will say it has been used quite a bit. I have close to 30 hours on it so far. With various loads, and equipment running, we have experienced over 14 hours on a 20 lb LP tank. I keep two of them in our RV, just for the Champion. We love it!! No smelly gasoline, and no worries about ethanol maintenance or damages to seals. On a different note.... I took my kids out for a week of camping, and found it no louder than two Honda 2000 paired up together.
I just got back from another week on the river. I was paying a bit more attention to the LP bottle sizes. I thought they were 20lb, but they are the 15lb bottles.
I have been researching these dual fuel models. I read it needs a charged battery to start on gas, even with the pull cord. The current 2500 model does not have a 12v outlet or a gas shut off valve best I can tell. I am frustrated that some of the Champion models have these little deal breakers for me. There is limited choice in 2K dual fuel models. I have read many reviews that that the 2500 is hard to start on propane. I am wondering if it a design issue, regulator, lack of a primer. I have such a bad association with hard to start 2 cycle motors. Seems the electric startt models work better on propane, but i don't need the size or weight. So I am thinking I should hold off a bit. I am positive I do not want to haul gas around. Come on Champion, i want a 2500 with a 12v outlet that is easy to start on propane and I don't need a generator for a usb charging outlet.
Great!! We still have it and use it every season. It stays inside our travel trailer when we’re not using it (still haven’t had a drop of gasoline inside the fuel tank).
Good video. I'm guessing if the microwave was in when you turned your ac unit on, it may have giver you trouble because of the surge. Also I'm wondering how it would work if outside tdmp was 90°.
I used this generator while camping a week on the river, while the outside temps were in the high 90s. For the kids and I it was nice to escape the heat. I'd run the A/C for a few hours... we'd go in, and I'd put on a movie for them, while I took a nap.
If you add a softstart to the A/C, you will not see the overload light on your genie... So the A/C can be setup to auto temp, let's say you put it at 68 degrees, once it reaches that temp inside, it will shut off...but once the temp rises, it will kick-in again, that is when the draw of power is at its peak, so with the soft start, device, you won't have the spike! Happy Trails
Boy a lot of guys testing this generator out! I guess I wasn't worried to much about it. I bought one because I was going to by a travel trailer. I bought it first for my house. When it snows we have a lot of power outages. I ran a full size freezer, a full size refigerator, a Dish TV system, modems, phones, the microwave when needed, 4 lights, and a electric heater on low...one of those Amish made ones. On propane and It never shutdown. We also have a 250 gallon propane take for the house so all the propane we need! So when we finally bought our 30 foot travel trailer with two 13000 BTU AC's I wasn't to worried about it. This
Un like popular belief you do not have to turn e-con off to run higher demand items, the generator will adjust automatic. On the other hand we buy generators to run while we are boon docking. That said propane would be a premium Item we need to conserve and use wisely if camping in the winter. Although running a generator with the option of gas or propane is kinda cool, I would run gas as a primary source of fuel especially knowing I need at least 7 gallons of propane ( 30 pound tank, I have two) to run my heater for 4-5 days camping in cold......... I too have and use a 3500 champion single fuel (gas) mainly because of the remote start you cant get with the propane / gas champion. Why? because to shut the propane run generator off you have to turn the propane off at the tank (safety feature that drains the gas hose before the generator is disconnected from the propane tank) So if you want the remote electric start you have to buy gasoline only champion gen.................... As far as hauling gasoline I carry 10 gallons in cans mainly for my Polaris I bring camping 10 gallons is plenty for the Polaris and my two gens I bring ( 1000 watt and the 3500 watt) for over a week of camping. ( My Polaris has a 10 gallon gas tank and I use about 4 gallons of the extra gas for the gens). Because I have a trailer RV, my truck can be used while camping to run to town and get more gas any where, finding propane sometimes is difficult. Again if you carry a spare 30 pound propane tank for a total of 3 you should have plenty of fuel for a week of camping in the cold..............Michael
Thanks for the video! Did you ever try running the ac, fridge, & microwave at the same time? Also I know this is pushing it but what about the water heater.
H J , I never tried the fridge with those two, because I primarily use propane for it anyways, unless I’m plugged at a state park. I have tested it with the water heater. If the a/c is on prior it handles it, but if the water heater is on and the a/c kicks on, it over does it (only tested w/propane, so it may be different with gasoline). I still haven’t installed the Supco Hard Start capacitor on the a/c unit yet. That would help with the amp draw on start-up, so that could possibility help running it with the water heater already going. Overall, we are still very pleased with the unit. We use it every year, and it stays in the trailer all the time ready to go. We did bring it home during the quarantine time we had this spring, because of everything being somewhat unknown about the future events. But we love having it.
Thank you! Yes, I definitely still recommend it. We still use it each camping season. I’m yet to use gasoline in it though, so I’m still unable to give any feedback on that portion.
Now if your weekend camping these are fine. If u have the extra money get two. It's worth it. U can remote start the other one when the one running runs out of fuel.
I just bought a Champion 7500 running watts ,I am hoping it will run my house. I am tired of buying generators that will not run much without turning something off. The cheaper generators are crap. one of them messed up a couple of items in my house. The other the fan on the motor broke and found out the motor and generator was built together. The motor on the first one I saved and going to use it on another project(maybe use it on a motorized bicycle project) The Champion is duel fuel, electric start. The start up watts is around 9300 watts.
On a separate issue attempted to call Champion headquarters will customer service twice. First time they hang up on me. Second time the guys kept playing the "I can't hear you this phone is acting up" Click. Do I try a third time? Lol. I can't find the spot at any of the local stores so I was hoping the customer service could nail down exactly who had this.
How many gallons of gasoline to a full tank and how many hours of run time can a full tank put out. I d be running a 13,500 btu ac unit in my semi. Greatly appreciate anyone who can share info with me. Thanks great video.
Thanks for watching. I wish I could help you out with this question. Hopefully someone here knows the answer by experience, and can give that knowledge to you. Be safe on the road! Thanks again for watching!
If I want to run this gen/inverter off my installed LP gas outlet on the RV rather than an independent 20# canister like you have in the video, will that work or is there a need for a special low pressure regulator like there is when trying to run a grill from the rv factory installed bib that is exiting the side of the rig? Any / all tips and information appreciated. Thanks.
I have an outdoor kitchen on my trailer, and it has a separate tee for the stove’s LP. I could hook into that if I desired, because the tanks are already regulated on the RV. I would imagine you could, as long as your current tanks are regulated as well (most likely they are). My two cents.
You can use an propane outlet on your trailer but you will still have to use the supplied regulator for the champion generator. The supplied regulator is vacuum driven to allow "X" amount of propane to flow into generator depending power load. Bbq regulators will not work.
PLEASE HELP! Does using propane in the mode you're using last longer than gas? How long would a full tank of gas use? If you are using gas should propane be unhooked?
Propane will last quite a bit longer but you are also talking about a bigger supply. I think you're around 20 hrs with that propane tank, give or take. The main reason I bought the dual-fuel is that you don't have to worry about the carb getting gunked up with running fuel. You also don't have to travel with a gas tank, those are pretty big reasons.
Thank you! Costco was one of my driving forces behind researching more into this Champion model. I figured if Costco stands behind it and allows it on their sales floor, I’d take a chance with it. Glad we did!!
Jason Viele I believe you can order one from Costco, and pick it up at your local store. I’m sure you can get it quicker from Amazon, but Costco will save ya about a hundred. I can wait.
Congratulations on the purchase!! I’m confident you will enjoy it, as much as we do ours. I posted a short video on an hour meter I installed on ours. Definitely worth while to do, in my opinion.
Just picked one up today and can't wait to see what it does. Thanks for the video. Hey is that a 70 gmc I see hiding back there? I had one 30 years ago... when they were beaters lol.
Congratulations on the purchase. We love ours. That’s a ‘72 GMC, 4x4, long/fleetside. My dad purchased it back in ‘80, when I was three years old. He bought a new truck in ‘94, and I bought the ‘72 from him my junior year of high school. It was my first vehicle, and I’m thankful that I still have it. I have four children now, so it doesn’t get used as often as I’d like, but I still love it, and the memories I have with it. I love all the ‘67-‘72 models. Thanks for watching my video.
Thanks for watching! Off hand I don’t know the make of the unit, because I’m in Arizona, but I do know that it’s a 13.5 btu. We love ours, and have had it over a year now. I strictly use it for camping, and would purchase again.
Jason Viele Yeah probably a good idea. I’ve seen some people do it fine and others no such luck. A lot of that depends on the age of the AC I think. Mine is only a couple years old. Thanks again for the video! 👍🏻🙏🏻
@@jasonviele1058 hmm interesting it works on my phone but not on the computer. This was the only video without sound on my computer. Not sure why. Watched about a dozen videos before this on my computer and then after and all had sound but this one. But it's working on my phone. Interesting.... Watching it now with the sound :)
Jason...be careful that you do not BROWN OUT, your AC compressor...even though it appeared to run and cool. I certainly would not run in Economy Mode, when running your A/C only to prevent a Brown Out pull (lower wattage than what the compressor needs, thereby overheating the compressor motor). Be careful for like carbon monoxide, a Brown Out is the 'silent' killer of compressor motors, in campers and at home....
Having to buy a new generator because some useless human being stole my 8250 briggs and straton out the back of my truck. I wanted to see reviews on the inverter generator before I bought it. The one I am seeing is 3100 watt. Do you think that's a good buy for a 15000 BTU a/c?
We love ours. I’m not entirely sure the wattage breakdown when comparing the 3100 to the 3400. I run my a/c with propane.... but off hand, I’m not sure what the watt rating is for propane. From what I’ve read, and heard is that gas will give out more watts verses propane. As far as the value, I’d recommend one, and I’d buy it all over again.
Great vid and great info!! Can't wait to feature mine on my channel!! Question though. I noticed you started the generator with the RV plugged in and I was told to NEVER start a generator with the RV plugged in. Is it ok / common to do that? I was looking at the remote start generator but didn't want to get it because if I can't start the generator with the RV plugged in, it's kinda pointless!! LOL!!
Thanks for the feedback. I start ours with the plug in the genny all the time. I think it’s to protect from possible low voltage or surge in power. I wanted the remote start, but the dual fuel sold me. Thanks again for your feedback and time to watch.
Isn’t economy mode just an idle down? When the load decreases the motor will slow down to idle. Therefore saving fuel because of no load at that time. It makes no difference under load. So saying it runs everything in economy mode doesn’t mean your saving fuel when a load is applied.
It will cost you about twice the cost to run it (out of pocket) when you run propane, vs. running gas as the gas has a greater BTU potential. You will burn more propane, over gas....just so you know. Also, you should not use ECON with running and starting your A.C. It can cause a micro second delay to deliver the wattage the A.C. needs in ECON mode..so can create a hard start 'watt starvation' in the A.C. compressor. Turn off ECON when wanting to run the A.C.
Not true "twice the cost" propane is only 3050/3400 or 10% less power than gas but propane is $2.46 / gallon and gas is from $4.50-$7.00 per gallon. Yes do not use economy mode while under a significant load say over 1500watts. The start up for the AC unit is very high amps and might overload the genny. On my Camper I set the AC to lowest cooling then turn on. then slowly lower the temp or in my case increase the cooling from min to medium.
@@danielnordeen8410 Daniel, my reply was months ago, when propane was almost double of gas. Today's metrics for costs could be different, but then, it will also fluctuate. The one advantage of course, is that you can run your generator off of your camper propane, if you ran out of gas, or it was not a convenient time to re-supply. I very much agree, I would not be using Economy Mode when starting a load like the A/C. I certainly run it for such as a RV fridge and lights, water pump..., and also just thought that where I live, (you once could...) they no longer charge you by the pound....nope...no matter how much propane is left in the tank, most places that have a filling machine ONLY charge you a straight fee...and around where I live, that's usually around $20.00 per tank. That puts the price WAY over the cost of gas, even at today's prices...and adding that to the less BTU, less energy to run...this should also be considered by those wanting a dual fuel setup but with the true wishing of using the propane option more than the gasoline side of it. Just sayin'... :)
I didn't read it anywhere in the comments, but can you tell me what was the elevation where you ran the A.C., TV and Microwave? Also, when you have taken it camping were you at any significant elevation running on propane? Thanks. Thanks for the video, it is very interesting and makes me want to sell my two Champion 2000W inverter gens and upgrade to the Duel Fuel version. But, I want more info regarding how it works at elevation, roughly 8000-10,000 feet.
We are approximately 3,800 feet. We have camped up to 4,500 feet so far. I have run this generator with all three major appliances running at the same time; a/c, microwave, and electric water heater. It ran for almost two minutes before going into overload (LP).
Wow that's great, I have a 15,000 BTU AC unit on my travel trailer and ordered this generator for the extra wattage and propane option. Looking forward to testing mine out, I'm pretty confident now it will handle the AC and a small load. Great video thank you

Thank you for the feedback. I’m glad it was some assistance!!
I was thinking the same thing. I glad to see someone do a real test!
I’m right there with you guys. I watch a lot of videos too, and I want to see real life applications in test. Thanks for the feedback!!
Jason Viele Not sure we’d have the same results with a 15K BTU AC. 😢
I just got one. I havn't even put oil in it yet. I'm happy for the propane feature. Thank you for review/ test.
WOW! I just purchased the same unit today. Along with the single fuel 2800 model. Going to pair them together to run my 50amp dual A/C trailer with a 15000BTU and 13500BTU A/C. Got home too late to try them out so I'm watching other people try them. Lol. I'm excited too. Lol
Nic DeCamp, I’m sure you’ll enjoy them!! We love ours!
This video has really helped me in researching a generator for my new RV. Thank you.
You’re welcome. Thank you for your feedback. Good luck with your continued research!! Thanks again.
Gets honda
I like your testing! Very educational. Everyone else just puts one thing on there
Thank you for your feedback.
Thanks for sharing your experience and feedback. I for one, as a user as well, enjoy hearing from others. Thanks again!!
Worthy purchase. Have owned one for about a year now. Ran that thing for hours with an AC and occasional microwave. For the money cant be beat.
You really can’t beat it for what it costs. We still use ours on every camping trip.
Thank you! This is the exact generator I've been considering, intending to run on propane, and your A/C is the same size as mine. Perfect test, answered my concerns, now I can pull the trigger.
Thanks!
You’re welcome!! Thank you for the feedback!! Glad it was a help.
I agree, I’m impressed too, after using it for over a year now... I’d definitely purchase again.
Just bought a new model 3500/3150 and it’s a beast 😁
Sold. I'm buying the duel fuel Champion 3400. Thank you for the Video.
You’re welcome!! We absolutely love ours!
Don’t forget the hour meter. To me it was a must have. Here’s mine... th-cam.com/video/7qZh4rClDiI/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the video. I'm anxious to take my new Champion 3400 dual fuel on the road. I'm glad to know how well it will meet our needs in Econo Mode.
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching, and leaving a friendly comment.
I'm glad to see Champion keep improving over the years to be a serious contender.
I bought mine thru Costco last. Didn’t try it with a/c until this year. Works great!!
Good to know… my new Champion 3400 arrives today.
Awesome! Congrats! I think you’ll really enjoy it. We still have and use ours.
I just bought a champion 4000-3500 still in the box, and I believe I made a good choice for the future power failure!
Appreciate the video, helping me figure out what to buy. I imagine the initial overload was due to starting amps peaking, then went down to running watts letting you do the microwave. But I’m glad that it’s running, AC is king! I might get it
Thanks. We love it. It’s been great to have air conditioning!!
You know that changing oil ervery 7 days shortens a generator life at a max rate? Cause you cant get all oil out.
Bull fuckin shit. Champion customer service has been great, please explain to us all WHY they wouldn't warranty an item that is only 3 months old or 7 months?
Buddy you just sold it iam going to get one of these babies thanks another for the help bro
Can am Dennis 68 Can Am. Anytime!! We still have ours and use it often! Enjoy yours!!
It wont shut down. It autos up, then drops back down to econo as load decreases.
Correct, Eco mode is not a lock, but cycles up when load increases.
@@gonecamper3510 that's what I said
I just bought one for backup my house. I have 360 pounds propane tank will be great not having to run out to gas station in the snow
I love that!! Thanks for sharing, and watching.
Thanks for the review I just bought one of these and got it today still haven’t even taken out of the box yet!! But after this video I feel I bought the right one !! Thank you
I’m glad it was a help. I felt the same way after this review as well. Even a good friend of mine ofmtwenty years was astonished, and even said, “I know my Honda 3000 couldn’t do what your Champion did.”
I recommend an hour meter on this machine.

How long will a champion 3400 generator run on a tank of gas?
7.5 hours
Our 3400-watt inverter with electric start features Dual Fuel, allowing the 192cc engine to run on either gasoline or propane.
What hurricane were you in? Thanks for the reply.
I have the same AC and generator. What you will find is the longer you run the AC the easier it is for the compressor to kick on. After maybe an hour I don't hear the generator ramp up at all.
Thank you for sharing that!!
You can hook up two of them at the same time with a special connector that plugs in the lower right of the front panel
That is amazing!! I just bought a 2019 Forest River Shasta Oasis 21k and have been looking for a really good generator (other than the expensive Honda's). Champion has really good ratings on Amazon but the model you have has really sold me on that performance test. Thank you for posting this video!
You're welcome. Thank you for watching.
With the microwave running turn the ac off and back on again. Curious to see if the load of the compressor starting on the ac with cause overload.
lucas reinbolt yet it most definitely will
I was always told that Honda or yamaha were the best! Move over boyz ! Champion is here! Awesome product luv tje dual fuel !keep R.V ing
My family and I just got back from a week on the river. I used our genny with both the A/C and water heater on at the same time. LOVE IT!!
My first generator too great i use the propane as well for the price cant beat it i did the same this this gut did got home hooked it up and evrything worked no tripping or anything great product
It helped me. I just purchased one from Amazon 😁
Great video. Exactly the kind of review I was looking for. Thanks
You're welcome!! Thanks for watching.
Do you think it would have helped if it were rejetted at the elevation?
One of the big advantages is maintenance. I only run propane. Runs cleaner and storage is simple- no gas stabilizer etc. I have had it over a year and zero issues.
Those exact reason mentioned there, were the biggest factors for us when deciding on this gen.
Thanks for the feedback.
Just got one took it boondogging. It kept blowing the 20 amp fuse in my little camper that protects the converter. Have you ever heard of this occurrence? The camper works fine plugged into our outlet at home but blows the fuse when plugged into the Champion.
Personally, I have not. Actually I haven’t had a single issue with ours yet. We use it every time we’re out camping, which is frequent.
Hello. Anyone know if there's a propane hose extension solution? The one that it comes with is only 2 feet
AWESOME!
Thank you!!
Nice video. Good job man.
Thank you!
Thanks for taking the time to watch, and to leave your comment!!
Jason Viele Jason take your propane tanks and have them filled then you get twenty pounds , if you exchange for prefilled you get 15
I have been researching these dual fuel models.
Thanks for this video. I'm looking at the regular standard RV ready champion 4750
You’re welcome!! I’m sure you’ll love it as much as we do ours.
Great vid. I did wonder if it would kick itself up from eco mode by itself if it needed more power.
Thank you.
How has the inverter held up?
We carry two extra 30 pound tanks of propane on our trailer. We've used it for two camping seasons so far, and still love the machine.
Thank you I am sold
You’re welcome. Thank you for your feedback. Let me know how you end up liking yours.
But we love having it.
excellent demo thanks for your effort
Thank you for watching!!
Would you still recommend this generator? And Great review
Thank you! Yes, I definitely still recommend it. We still use it each camping season. I’m yet to use gasoline in it though, so I’m still unable to give any feedback on that portion.
That cup of water should've been boiling over after 2 minutes! Thanks for sharing...
Sold! I'm ordering one now.
I’m sure you’ll love it. We do ours!!
The motor on the first one I saved and going to use it on another project(maybe use it on a motorized bicycle project)
The Champion is duel fuel, electric start. The start up watts is around 9300 watts.
Let me know how it works out. I’m looking at a 12,000 watt genny for my place. I may consider the 7500.
Thanks!!
I will let you know
what size microwave?
On a separate issue attempted to call Champion headquarters will customer service twice.
First time they hang up on me.
Second time the guys kept playing the "I can't hear you this phone is acting up" Click.
Do I try a third time? Lol.
I can't find the spot at any of the local stores so I was hoping the customer service could nail down exactly who had this.
Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Costco, just to name a few retailers. Hope that helps.
Thank you for this! I have a very similar RV and wanted to know if this generator would run everything. SOLD!
You’re welcome. Thanks for the reply. Enjoy the camping trips even more now!!
Impressive, most impressive..
Great to hear 👍🏼 how many decibels? You can download a free app on your fone to check. Thanks
Thanks. I’m out of town for the next month, but when I return I’ll get those for you. Thanks!!
If you are running on Propane then choke isn't needed
Really good review thanks much
JS1 You’re welcome, and thanks for watching!!
How long could you run air conditioning off that tank of propane?
Not entirely sure. I haven’t tested that yet. I did some camping for a week when the temps were reaching 100 and I never changed out the tank.
Great vid, will be picking up this same model from costco tomorrow
Thank you! Costco was one of my driving forces behind researching more into this Champion model. I figured if Costco stands behind it and allows it on their sales floor, I’d take a chance with it. Glad we did!!
I didn't think Costco had this model?? I thought it was the 3100 model is all.
That’s my assumption as well, but maybe local stores have different inventory.
Jason Viele I believe you can order one from Costco, and pick it up at your local store. I’m sure you can get it quicker from Amazon, but Costco will save ya about a hundred. I can wait.
Great video
Thank you!!
Is this simply plugged into the 30 amp RV plug?
Yes, it is.
I got one and it's awesome for the price
just pick up the 3500 from camp world. thanks for info.
Congratulations on the purchase!! I’m confident you will enjoy it, as much as we do ours. I posted a short video on an hour meter I installed on ours. Definitely worth while to do, in my opinion.
If I plan to run this on propane only, do I need to add gasoline?
No, I still use ours each year, and it’s never had a drop of gasoline in it. That’s the main reason I purchased ours. Makes it very nice!!
@@jasonviele1058 Thank yopu - that is what I suspected and hoped...
The manufacturer recommends always running it in economy mode
I’m looking at getting this generator. What kind of AC do you have? I have a Coleman 15K BTU AC. Thanks for the video. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching! Off hand I don’t know the make of the unit, because I’m in Arizona, but I do know that it’s a 13.5 btu. We love ours, and have had it over a year now. I strictly use it for camping, and would purchase again.
I’m wondering if I get this generator if I’ll need the hard start capacitor to start my Coleman 15K AC. What do you think? Thanks. 👍🏻
I purchased one, and haven’t installed it yet. I’d say have one on hand just in case.
Jason Viele Yeah probably a good idea. I’ve seen some people do it fine and others no such luck. A lot of that depends on the age of the AC I think. Mine is only a couple years old. Thanks again for the video! 👍🏻🙏🏻
Great video, thanks for posting
Thank you, and thanks for watching.
So in your experience what happens during overload (say a few minutes)? Does it shut down or keeps running at max output?
I’ve ran mine at max with A/C, microwave, and hot water heater all at the same time. It ran in “overload” for about 90 seconds.
Was there supposed to be sound on this video?
Yes, there is sound on the video.
Definitely odd. First I’ve heard of the problem on this video. Hey, if you figure it out, let me know. I appreciate it. Thanks.
I need generator. Looks good.
I agree, It really does look good. We still use it and I’d definitely purchase again.
Very good -- thx 👍
You’re welcome!
Econ mode does nothing, except allow it to idle lower with no load. Under heavy load it ignores econ mode.
Wondering how long would it run just the ac with a 20lb propane tan
I don’t recall exactly at the moment, but I did stay a week on the river when it was over a 100 degrees during the wee, and it lasted me the week.
Impressive
Glenn, it is, but I wanted to see if it would shit the unit down while running it Econ Mode on the initial high power demand.
@Glenn....economy mode is a feature that only runs the gen engine at the speed that it needs to accommodate the load that is on it...
You have to let it run for 3min to warm up before cutting on appliances
