The only European theatre they showed in the game are Southern France and the western Soviet Union as well as Norway in the Soviet campaign. These countries are location that only the Soviet Navy, who have the amphibious force, could attack. The Warsaw Pact force would've been sent to fight at West Germany and Eastern Italy or Greece.
Warsaw Pact forces also uses Soviet Equipment. Sure they made their own Domestic made weapons but most of their Hardware are provided by the Soviets. Same goes for smaller NATO countries such as Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, Iceland. They use American, German, British and French Hardware.
I like this game, but I was always thinking about the one unrealistic thing with it, and I found it. It's the fact that AI-gamer doesn't use it's own fire support resources, even if he defends on it's own ground.
This game was good, but I don't see much infantry action. I love to see some CoH mechanics implemented in this game. On the other hand, the UI is impressive, not much clutter and it doesn't eat much of the screen.
Infantry in this game are vulnerable. They can easily be wiped out by just running them over. Tanks are OP. But Infantry behind Structure or Forest cover are effective.

But in urban combat or some of the slower paced missions with less heavy armor,infantry in buildings and forests are super effective. A couple squads of AT Infantry in a forest can easily stop multiple light/medium tanks,even heavies too depending on the circumstances
