    Great performing saw. A laser or shadow light would've made it perfect. Great review.

    Good review. I think the saw would be used for a lot of trim applications and you failed to mention its capacity on crown molding and something like standard 5 1/4 base cut standing. The back fence height looks small.

    in regards to the lack of laser and light, the purpose of this saw is portability, most sites that id see this on would be outside where lights and lasers are useless anyway. Don't get me wrong though, it still wouldn't be silly to include them anyway..
    By the way thumbs up good vid.

    sweet saw and another great review. seen the dewalt one, like em both although the makita will last a hell of a lot longer, but the dewalt has the light. metabo has them both beat with their saw having the laser and light and other bells and whistles. would love that one but I'm invested in the 20v.

    This saw is the perfect compact saw. In reality, I have used saw as a lot and well you might use the laser as a guide, you still pull the saw down and check it on the piece of wood before you cut because the thickness of the blade so to be honest a laser is only a guide but not what you really use to cut but it couldn’t hurt to have it either.

    I want a makita chopsaw so badly, especially one with AWS to use with a Makita dust extractor. But they’re too cost prohibitive. DeWalt’s handsome and compact cordless 7 1/4 miter saw is retailing for like $300 online.

    Surprising that Makita would compromise the user safety as a means to alert them the battery is low, would some flashing LEDs on the battery indicator not have been sufficient?

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it was intentional......I just noticed it happening as I drained the battery fully, which is why I said something about it.

    Awesome and very complete review Daniel !
    And the saw is also awesome. Runtime is enough for everyone. The power is definitely there. I still have to wait 2 months before it is available in Belgium.
    What did you think about the accuracy? Is there alot of side to side wobble or quite stiff?

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I thought that is was very accurate right out of the box (square cuts) and didn't notice any issues with blade wobble, even with non-stop fast cutting. The dual slides really stabilize it, and the smaller 7-1/2" blade didn't have those same issues like a 10" or 12" could. I really like Makita saws a lot.....this & the XSH03 are two of the best out there.

    Great review as always!! This saw looks like a great performer but could you tell me what the dust extraction is like with the bag and then with a decent vacuum?

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Steven Marshall Thanks! A vac will always do a better job than a bag.....with minimal dust escaping prior to being removed. The bag works well UNTIL it fills up....then the dust goes everywhere.

      +Real Tool Reviews thanks for the reply. I am invested in both Makita and Dewalts 18v lineup and can't decide which cordless mitre saw to
      Invest in. I currently use the DW717 as my corded (although I may upgrade to a kapex in the next year). After using both which would you choose regardless of price? Then taking into consideration the Makita is $300 more expensive than the Dewalt here in Australia.
      Thanks in advance.

    I like this saw, but I am trying to comprehend the 5 degree to the right only. Why not make it like the Milwaukee and the now obsolete Ridgid with 45 degrees each way? How often is a 5 degree needed?

    • @justincarter9622

      Gordon Milne I did. Here is the specs off the website. Miters 0-47° left and 0-57° right; bevels 0-45° left and 0-5° right. It’s the 5 degrees bevel to the right I don’t like. I love Makita Tools but their competitors bevel 45 each way. Except DeWalt.

    Excellent video again. Hmm. Let's see. Over 500 cuts with 2 batteries. No led.No horizontal handle.Although they did make some on their 10 inchers I do not know why Makita insist on making vertical handles on their saws.Once you use a horizontal handle there is no going back to vertical. It's all about control and feel . ergonomicly also less cts (curpel tunnel syndrome) on your arm. If you look at the competition like the Dewalt 7 1/2 cordless miter saw, they too offer 275 cuts on one battery and theirs is not a brushless motor. I do not see any advantage using up 2 batteries at the same time adding more expense to the saw. Being a brushless motor ,it should have been more like 600 cuts because brushless supposed to double battery power.I currently use Dw712 miter saw for finish work. It is the only saw that's made in Italy on their line up if you don't mind the cord. fellow who mentioned about choosing between saws from Mak Dew and Metabo...Very simple.
    1.German Metabo
    2.Mexican Dewalt
    3.Chinese Makita

    • @RealToolReviews
      @RealToolReviews  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Adam Eglen Thanks! A few points regarding your comment......this has a larger blade than the Dewalt (more mass = more power to turn it). The Dewalt got just over 200 cuts in my testing, not 275.....and also the Metabo is made in China, not Germany.

      They are shipping....I saw them in stock at a local woodworking show last week. With Amazon, they fulfill backorders prior to listing them as in-stock, so the people buying them are getting in line for each new shipment.

  • @tessamcquoid8164

    I bought one of these saws a few months ago, when I first got it I noticed the top sliders had a grinding feel to them, like the bearings were stuffed. I thought this might smooth out with use but has only gotten worse, I sent it back to Makita but all they did was put some grease on them and said there was nothing wrong with it. While this is not a big issue when your cutting framing timber where accuracy isn't so important, when cutting finishing lines, doing things like false miter's and such, it's a pain in the ass, and I would expect a drop saw that cost me over $1000NZD to perform a whole lot better.... am I just being anal, or does it sound like there's something wrong with my saw? Cheers.
