Adrian Peterson is the only active player with more TDs than him, he took a year off and he’s still a starting running back. He’s definitely top 20 of all time.
From a Packers fan to the world ....Walter you were the only bear I ever loved. Sweetness you are missed by us all, your name is still spoken in whispered reverence.
He was one of the greatest people in NFL history. They named an award after him, the Walter Peyton Man of the Year award. It is given to a player who shows exceptional service, humility and kindness. It is considered the NFL’s highest honor. What a guy!
Justice 931 and who was this year's recipient of the Walter Payton award? JJ Watt. We've got to see a JJ Watt highlights reaction. Megawatt or JJ Swatt is not only a hero in Houston for his humanitarian efforts, but the greatest defensive lineman of this generation. Think Lawrence Taylor without all the crack.

Nick P. Keep in mind he is learning all these people as he goes so he doesnt really know that marshawn isn't a top 10 back, all he sees are the highlights
I grew up in Chicago. I was 6 years old when the Bears won the Super Bowl in ‘85. Chicago has two great sports legends- Walter Payton and Michael Jordan. Matty23 absolutely right. I just turned 11 when they won. It was one of my favorite memories. You are right about the love for Walter in Chicago. I don't care if you talk shit about any other player, if you talk shit about Walter, we have problems. Even my Packer fan friends know well enough to respect Walter.

But he was just a nice young man who helped her out one night.
Walter is the greatest all-around football player I’ve ever seen. Running, blocking, passing, catching the ball, he could do it all at a level never seen before. Truly unequaled. RIP #34
Walter Payton was also a beautiful human being- an incessant volunteer, spokesperson and financier of multiple charities and causes. He was such a great man that today's NFL award for 'outstanding contribution off the field' is called the "Walter Payton Award". I actually got to meet Walter as a kid and he WAS truly sweet.
Hey man, loving your reactions. Just for some context, wanted to let you know the voice in the video saying, "I said oh my goodness, what kind of animal is this?" "He was good at what he did. The most amazing thing Walter Payton ever did was refuse to be bumped to the top of the kidney transplant list (which was offered to him) because he knew it would be taking it from someone else that had been waiting. That's the kind of man he was. Great man.
Payton had a shit offensive line and was the only weapon on the team for his first 8 years. Amazing what he was able to do. Played on early astro turf which was concrete covered with a inch of hard rubber and then the fake turf over top of that.
tyler durden Could you imagine if he would have had that offensive line in the beginning of his career...like from 82 and up....he would of had more TDs'..racked up a easy 4000yards... In my opinion the most complete back ever...
Emmitt Smith, OJ, Jim Brown had hall of fame linemen in front of them. Walter didn't even have one pro bowler for his first 10 years. And no great quarterback either like Smith had in Aikman. Smith broke Walters record. But no comparison. Go Bears!
In my hometown in suburban Chicago, Payton’s legacy lives on to this very day. The hill you see at 6:44 is known in my town as “Payton’s Hill,” because he regularly trained there. The biggest characteristic about that hill is how steep it is. My high school football team used to have a tradition of holding conditioning there on the last “two-a-day” practice of the summer.
At the end of the day, if an alien (or Australian) asked me about it, I'd say Lynch was a bad-ass m.f., but WALTER PEYTON is in the rare air where only where only the Greatest can breathe. You need to watch Peyton's "A Football Life" for the full effect of "Sweetness."
You can save face a little, Jacob. Once, all three Chicago quarterbacks were injured, and Walter Payton was pressed into service as the team's emergency quarterback. He only played a game or two in that capacity. Nonetheless, he was indeed briefly a quarterback. Payton was a very decent, kind-hearted man. The NFL bestows an award annually to the player who best exemplifies good citizenship, community service, and ambassadorship. The recipient is The Walter Payton Man of the Year.
CSlaught02 I initially thought that might have been a bit of confusion on Jacob's part with respect to position names, but that makes a lot more sense.
Walter Payton was the best player of all time of getting extra yards after the tackle, and getting some yards out of busted play. You didn't tackle Walter Payton. He hit you, and sometimes you both went down. It also is an example of the limits of the human body. He paid for all of those hits. You can't play American football with the intensity of Walter Payton, because it will kill you.
Jonathon Shine LT is the reason i started watching football. Ive stopped watching in recent years because i just find it boring now but ill always remember that record setting season.
Walter Payton's life was tragically cut short but as much as he was a brilliant player, and he was one of the best football players of all time, he was an even better person. I could live to a hundred and thirty and I'd be content if I was one quarter the human being he was. Dunno if you've done a react to this guy yet, but Dick 'Night Train' Lane is another guy to be amazed by.
Walter Payton is an icon. Even had the man not died so young, I believe the reaction to him would be similar. He was a classy individual. Seemed that everyone had respect for Walter. As a sportsman, he had some consistent numbers and was the only constant variable on a Bears team that vacillated wildly during his tenure. He was a leader both by example and vocally. He had the intangibles. He was overused as a running back and that may have shortened his career. For a couple seasons he was an epic player in video games. Sort of like Bo Jackson in the old Tecmo Bowl. Bo Jackson is interesting because he was a legitimate 2 sport professional athlete. I won’t spoil it for you. Look up Bo. You won’t believe your eyes. We were all deprived of his greatness by an injury after just a few seasons. You must look up Bo Jackson. Ever here the Nike ad ‘You don’t know Bo’. I am pretty sure it never left North America, do probably not.
Fact: mentioning Walter’s name in the same sentence or conversation with M Lynch is a total lack of respect and ignorance. He is not in sweetnesses league on or off the field.
What made him so great was he was not a showboater. He was a humble man. His knickname sweetness was definitely his spirit and how he conducted himself.
People take WP for granted because almost every play was a potential highlight. He's not only the greatest RB ever but the greatest football player a..period.
Lynch is no where near as good as Payton. Payton carried his team to the super bowl and all other seasons while Marshawn is good but can't carry a team. He's just a good asset
I love Payton but we cant possibly say that he pretty much carried them to that Superbowl The main anchor that year was arguably the best defense of all time (debatable) The 85 Bears This doesnt take away Sweetness greatness and impact but it was kinda hard to say he completely carried that team
Adrik Chavez definitely the main nucleus on that offense but I want to add he had a great line that year too he had All Pro Tom Thayer at guard, all pro tackle Jimbo Covert, and all pro center Jay Hilgenberg With unpredictable ass Jim McMahon, one of the fastest WRs in history the olympic athelete Willie Gault And of course at the goaline they put in the big ass "Fridge" William Perry Buuut this still doesnt take away from Walters presence He put up a then NFL record 9 straight 100 yd games (Barry Sanders broke it in 1997 with 14) And he averaged 4.8 yds a game and had 1,550+ rushing yds that season
@@FAMCHAMP The biggest sin in NFL history: in his only Super Bowl appearance, when it was short yardage, instead of letting Payton score a SB TD they gave the ball to Refrigerator Perry; a side show act. I bet Ditka still doesn’t forgive him self for that call.
MedicinalMMJCures He definitely did. But I don't remember many more other times someone put a flat on the Bus like Ray did. It is Ray Lewis we're talking about, one of the best linebackers to ever play
Dave Rennie, the Wellington coach, gave Julian Savea the same nickname because he thinks Savea would truck people like Bettis did, even when Savea is taller and lighter than Bettis.
Something else that you should know about Payton is that he was not just the best RB to ever do it. He was one of the best human beings to play any sport. They way he conducted himself on and off the field was very inspiring. So much so, that every year the NFL honors the player with the most integrity and humanitarian efforts during that year. the name of that award is the Walter Payton’s man of the year award.
Man I love watching these videos. It's so cool to see someone who understands a fair amount about the sport (presumably from your rugby background) yet has no idea who any of these legends are. It's pretty rare you get to see people react to some of the all time greats for the first time like this so it's a lot of fun to watch. I would suggest you watch the highlights of my favorite player ever, John Elway. Probably the strongest arm in NFL history and also an underrated runner as well. Even if he didn't play football, he had the opportunity to play for the Yankees. Probably wouldn't have been as good a baseball player as Bo Jackson but still.
If you want to see the pure opposite style of Walter Payton, watch highlights of Earl Campbell. He brutalized defenders from the running back position.
Not sure there is a complete opposite of a running back that can do everything asked of him. Payton would run you over, go around you, jump over you or block you. Hell, he could even pass the ball. Not sure there’ll be another like him.
This was a great vid he was even respected by jim brown which is rare he does not like most football players and he was even ok with him beating his rushing record
Please do Randy Moss, Earl Campbell, Randall Cunningham, Emmitt Smith, Deion Sanders and "The Greatest Show On Turf" Offense" you will not regret any of them I promise. Some more suggestions could be Jerry Rice(greatest receiver and possibly player of all time), Brian Dawkins, Reggie Bush (college highlights), Lesean McCoy, JJ Watt, Julio Jones, Terrell Owens
Say whatever you want about T.O.'s personality but the man knew how to entertain and piss people off. Also the only player who had the stones to mock imitate Ray Lewis. He'd make a great video.
The best Bush highlight was him getting lit up behind the line of scrimmage by Sheldon Brown of the Eagles.... Probably one of the most crine worthy hits in NFL history
I cant believe you haven't done RANDY MOSS. "You got Moss'd". Most talented NFL player of all time. Could not stop him. Watch randy moss please you will not be disappointed.
i was blessed to see the 85 team in the regular season. i live 2 hours from soldier field. watching sweetness live is a memory i will always cherish. and also got to go to the fog bowl in 88.
He wasn't the biggest but the guy had like a 500 pound bench and he squat like 600 lbs. Add to that his other worldly training regime, the man was cut from the same mold as Jim Brown.
When great running back and linebackers call Walter Payton the greatest of all time. There is more to a great player than stats. Great players inspire thier teammates and carry the load. Greatest part of Walter Payton was who humble he was.
You gotta do Alvin Kamara, he's a rookie running back that just won Offensive Rookie of the Year, and always watch Joseph Vincent's vids, he's the best for sports videos.
Walter Payton was not only the best football player I've ever seen what people don't talk about much is this... In the 1970s racism was still pretty wide spread around the Chicago area and he was one of the first athletes that began to bridge the gap. I know just from watching my family at the time (that were in their 50s- 60s) just loved the guy because he was such a amazing athlete, role model and like you said soft spoken that he somehow was able to make people admire him. He will always be my all time favorite football player and Bear. He was my role model as a kid and I thank him for that. For a guy that was a real life super hero on the field it was such a tragedy to see him go the way he did. I still get misty eye'd when I watch that speech where he breaks down. His memory lives on in all NFL fans and that's a rare quality that just proves how special he was. He was a once in a generation gem. I had the pleasure of meeting him quite a few times in my teens and he was the only Bear that would sit and chat with the fans and would sign EVERYTHING. I remember one time he sat there after all the other players went to their rooms for nearly an hour just talking to us kids and being that role model I spoke of above... He always was positive and he made all of us fans feel special. If you want to debate two football running backs debate Barry Sanders vs Payton... Sanders is my second favorite football player of all time and that's saying a lot being a Bear fan.
Yes! Been waiting on this one. Walter Peyton was truly the GOAT! As you would say "LEGEND"!!! When you get a chance and want to see one of the greatest teams and seasons in NFL history, watch highlights of the 1985 Bears. You won't be disappointed! They were NASTY!
If you like physical runs then you should react to Jerome Bettis aka the BUS he was a 250 pound running back who are surprisingly quick and punish anyone who dares to tackle him other than Ray Lewis as you seen aready
I just wanted to add something that Walter Payton has an award dedicated to him. Every year, similar to the MVP award, someone is voted as the Walter Payton man of the year. This individual is a person who helped out in the community and charities the most. So he was also a great person off the field.
Most people strive to be the best at whatever it is they want to do, but what's more impressive is when you are the best at what you do AND you're just as amazing of a person. I'm a bit of a Stevie Ray Vaughan historian and all accounts from his peers and friends say he was just as amazing of a person, kind and humble, as he was a guitar player. Same thing is always said about Walter Payton... amazing football player and equally amazing, kind and humble person. Definition of a role model or, better yet, a benchmark... "a standard by which all others should be measured or judged".
Sweetness! RIP, and there’s a reason there’s an annual award in honor of this amazing athlete. Dickerson was a contemporary of WP, and gave huge respect.
Walter Payton vs Marshaun Lynch isn't close. Lynch's claim to fame in this league is basically being a fast fullback in a league that has forsaken the fullback position. Lynch doesn't have Payton's speed or elusiveness. If you remember from the Beastmode videos you watched, Lynch is often caught from behind. He has one trick, forward and through with a little elusiveness. Payton was the best ever, followed by (in my opinion of course) Barry Sanders, Jim Brown, and Emmit Smith. (In my opinion Smith was a product of having the best offensive line ever as was Aikman)
Really, because there are examples of it all throughout NFL history. Remember when the redskins got their ring in the 90's? '91 I think it was, Rypien had great numbers because his offensive line at the time was amazing, gargantuan, the Hogs. I think they set a record for 3rd fewest sacks allowed in a season, so they made a mediocre QB look awesome. And I'm sure if you care to look at his QB rating it likely spiked up that season because the line made him better than he was. Emmitt leaves Dallas, does little to nothing, no more O Line to open up ocean sized holes for him. Montana left SF and played in KC, did pretty well playing without his amazing supporting cast from the 49ers Maybe Aikman was good in his own right, hard to say as he had the best offensive line in football for nearly all his career, AS WELL AS one of the best rushers behind that same iron curtain. In the off chance your football IQ is limited, when you have a good rushing game it frees up the pass. I say ONE OF the best, because Emmitt wasn't better than Barry, and Barry has no idea what a good offensive line looks like. The best blocks he got were from wide receivers up-field. You're about to tell me Emmitt is better because his stats bear that out.... we both know Barry retired way early and healthy, had he cared to keep playing, he'd likely own the rushing records. Or I assume you aren't as stupid as you sound and know that. The best players on Dallas' offense was the O Line, Micheal Irvin, and Novachek. Well, the Fullback was pretty good too (I can't remember his name though I think they called him the moose or something), like Rathman, I recall he was a pretty good receiver in his own right. I'm not saying Aikman and Smith weren't good, they just weren't the top tier elites that many of their fans insist they are. Now if you're too stupid to understand any of this, ask me, and I'll use smaller words for you.
There have been a many great running backs throughout NFL history. But I can not think of a single one the same "style" of play given Sweetness's size, speed and mentality. Sure there have been fullbacks like Lynch that bulldozed their way through people into greatness, just as there have been fast elusive runners that were difficult to tackle that were also great. But Walter Payton, was with out a doubt a unique player. Small, fast and elusive, yet just as willing to go through tacklers when he wanted to. Running wide and outside or up the middle made little difference to Payton. He also had no problem lining up and hitting big linebackers to block them or in attempting to run over them. When you see the smaller running backs blocking they usually go low, attempt to redirect or just hinder the blitzing defensive player...Walter put his helmet right into the numbers, right into center of mass mostly stopping these guys right in their tracks. I was never a Bear's fan...but I sure as hell loved to watch Walter "Sweetness" Payton run, and hit the defenders.
Marshawn Lynch is phenomenal and will be in the Hall of Fame, but he isn’t Walter Payton phenomenal. There’s not really a debate about it, everybody pretty much unanimously agrees Payton was the best ever. Some would say Emmit Smith because he has a few more yards, but he was graced with a better offensive line for most of his career and at a time in the league where running backs weren’t the main concern for defenses, as many teams had adapted a pass-focused offense.
I guess he has fallen off in recent years. I’ve been realizing these last few days that the NFL has changed more than I realized since I was last heavily invested in 2013.
Definitely not. Barry sanders is better than emmit smith. And he didnt have a line at all. And no everyone doesnt unanimously agree bc i personally say barry sanders is the best for the fact that he didnt have a line what so ever. And i know alot of people who agree barry is the best.
Caleb Neff I think you would have to throw Barry Sanders into the discussion of the greatest. I’m a Cowboys fan and I love Emmit Smith, but I would be hesitant to put him above Sanders.. Smith had a lot of advantages over Sanders, mainly a good team and supporting cast. But don’t get me wrong I loved the triplets. Go Cowboys
Best Players at each position of the Super Bowl Era (offense) Quarterback 1. Tom Brady (best player in NFL history) 2. Joe Montana (winner/clutch) 3. Peyton Manning (all-around talent/best numbers) 4. Brett Favre (best arm) 5. Dan Marino (quickest release) Runningbacks 1. Walter Payton (all-around talent) 2. Jim Brown (freak athlete) 3. Barry Sanders (most elusive) 4. Adrian Peterson (freak) 5. Emmitt Smith (best numbers) 6. Ladainian Tomlinson (good numbers) 7. Eric Dickerson (most rushing yards in a single season) Wide Receiver 1. Jerry Rice ("Walter Payton" of wide receiver/best numbers) 2. Randy Moss (freak athlete) 3. Calvin Johnson (freak athlete) 4. Terrell Owens (freak athlete) 5. Larry Fitzgerald (great route runner/great hands) 6. Marvin Harrison (best route runner) 7. Cris Carter (great hands) 8. Michael Irvin (playmaker) Tight End 1. Rob Gronkowski (all-around talent/freak athlete) 2. Tony Gonzalez (best receiving tight end) 3. Antonio Gates (great receiving tight end) 4. Jason Witten (all-around talent/tough) 5. Kellen Winslow (great receiving tight end/great hands) Offensive Line 1. Anthony Muñoz (technique/size/strength/athleticism) 2. John Hannah (intensity/athleticism) 3. Larry Allen (insane strength/best highlights for offensive lineman) 4. Forrest Gregg (old timer/consistent) 5. Jonathan Ogden (huge)
I don't know if you noticed, but most of the time Payton initiated contact before the defensive player could. That's what enabled him to break tackles. And a lot of defensive backs said that getting hit by his stiff arm was the hardest they've been hit.
MarShawn Lynch is not one of the greatest running backs ever. He is among he best of his era. But not close it the greatness of Payton.
Brayden Wormer he could’ve and should’ve been if the Seahawks ran the ball
Adrian Peterson is the only active player with more TDs than him, he took a year off and he’s still a starting running back. He’s definitely top 20 of all time.
Zakk Molina Maybe, but again, he doesn’t come close to Payton.
Marshawn has been the closest thing to Earl Campbell since the latter played back in the day. These Rugby guys should react to him.
Zakk Molina top 20 all-time? Arguable but he had the potential to be top 5.
From a Packers fan to the world ....Walter you were the only bear I ever loved. Sweetness you are missed by us all, your name is still spoken in whispered reverence.
Thank you, The Big Show, from a FIB who's a Badger, but a Bears fan. I appreciate it!
You love football
So you have to love Sweetness
He was one of the greatest people in NFL history. They named an award after him, the Walter Peyton Man of the Year award. It is given to a player who shows exceptional service, humility and kindness. It is considered the NFL’s highest honor. What a guy!
Evan Laplante Larry Fitzgerald
Tj Adams what about him?
William Knapp Larry carries himself similar to Walter
Justice 931 and who was this year's recipient of the Walter Payton award? JJ Watt. We've got to see a JJ Watt highlights reaction. Megawatt or JJ Swatt is not only a hero in Houston for his humanitarian efforts, but the greatest defensive lineman of this generation. Think Lawrence Taylor without all the crack.
Well said... 👍👏

Marshawn is honest...thats commendable...he is charitable...but there is not, nor will there ever be, a Marshawn Lynch Man of the Year award lol
Rick Kelley I don't believe anyone suggested such.
That dude was the greatest running back by far... block, catch, run, juke, power, speed, passing, durability, team player... R.I.P. big man
Lynch is not in Payton's league. He's a great player, but Walter is a football God.
billytheweasel why are you interested?
science
jmgmarcus 100% accurate
Yeah I mean Lynch is great and all but he's still not in the upper echelon of Jim Brown, Payton, Barry Sanders, and maybe LT and AP
Yea marshawn is kinda a bum compared to walter. Not even close

I saw an interview when asked how he was able to move so good.
He said he takes ballet in the off season.
...........
After his death I heard a lady call a talk show and told a story about how she met him.
She was driving home Sunday night. and had a flat tire on the highway. She did not know we hat she was going to do. its late, it's cold this is Chicago in the winter. dm8867 - He was indeed a humble man, that was a GREAT man! I loved to watch him play, and I was not a Bears fan. I would watch just to see him play.
That sounds very much like Sweetness. He was always a humble and classy man.
Has absolutely nothing to do with his ability to play football, but yeah seems like a good guy
Walter is the greatest all-around football player I’ve ever seen. Running, blocking, passing, catching the ball, he could do it all at a level never seen before. Truly unequaled. RIP #34

That's Jim Brown.
the epitome of greatness
Payton was Speed, Agility power and Style and Class too!
Thank you so much for watching sweetness...the highlights only tell half the story. His work off the field to help children was his true legacy.
I know this is an old video but I just want to say how much I appreciate your video on Sweetness. I'm from Barrington, Illinois and my father used to work out with Walter and play basketball with him at the gym in our area. He had a special connection to our family and our lives. Keep up the amazing content. Thank you Jacob for such an awesome video. Much love!
Walter Payton was such a work horse. He literally falls down while gaining an additional 10 yards! And he was so humble.
I'm going to be the squeaky wheel!!! Deion Sanders - Prime Time
Inside Streetball I said he should check out prime time too.
He should do Randy Moss as well. He likes pace and Randy was the fastest
Yea I want him to check out Chad Johnson to
What about Antonio Brown or Julio Jones? Maybe Le'Veon Bell?
Inside Streetball definitely Bell and while we at it Jerome Bettis would be great to watch
They dont say it in this video i dont think but one absolutely amazing thing he did was he beat the singal game rushing record with the flue of 102°
The most amazing thing Walter Payton ever did was refuse to be bumped to the top of the kidney transplant list (which was offered to him) because he knew it would be taking it from someone else that had been waiting. That's the kind of man he was. Great man.
You were thinking peyton manning i believe lol. Another goat
That's what I thought.. easy to confuse if you are not big fan of NFL.
Payton had a shit offensive line and was the only weapon on the team for his first 8 years. Amazing what he was able to do. Played on early astro turf which was concrete covered with a inch of hard rubber and then the fake turf over top of that.

Go Bears!
My favorite player of all time. I am crying just watching this. God bless, Sweetness.
Never compare lynch to Payton. Lynch is no where close. Payton is the goat
R.I.P. sweetness
In my hometown in suburban Chicago, Payton’s legacy lives on to this very day. The hill you see at 6:44 is known in my town as “Payton’s Hill,” because he regularly trained there.
Believe me Payton is better than lynch
You can save face a little, Jacob. Once, all three Chicago quarterbacks were injured, and Walter Payton was pressed into service as the team's emergency quarterback.
He only played a game or two in that capacity. Nonetheless, he was indeed briefly a quarterback.
Payton was a very decent, kind-hearted man. The NFL bestows an award annually to the player who best exemplifies good citizenship, community service, and ambassadorship. The recipient is The Walter Payton Man of the Year.
He also holds the record for most TD passes by a non-QB.
Scott B
Interesting trivia tidbit. That would have stumped me, but I believe it without even bothering to check.
CSlaught02
I initially thought that might have been a bit of confusion on Jacob's part with respect to position names, but that makes a lot more sense.
Brian Dawkins "weapon x"..So violent ,yet so humble.never even cursed for God's sake.My favorite defensive player of all time!
chris melendez loved that guy
chris melendez so...so...so violent
He was amazing to watch. He's my all-time favorite running back. I was 4 when he started playing and he always brought it. RIP Sweetness.
Matthew Reynolds
All of that AND he didn't run out if bounds. "Never die easy" was his motto.
Do a LT (LaDainian Tomlinson) reaction
Jonathon Shine LT is the reason i started watching football. Ive stopped watching in recent years because i just find it boring now but ill always remember that record setting season.
I've been commenting LT in every single video man. haha lets hope he sees yours
Ive been commenting him also lmao
React to EARL CAMPBELL!!!!!!! An absolute tank
the highlight when he stiff arms that Rice player lmao
Walter Payton is 10x better than marshawn Lynch, there’s no doubt
Walter Payton's life was tragically cut short but as much as he was a brilliant player, and he was one of the best football players of all time, he was an even better person. I could live to a hundred and thirty and I'd be content if I was one quarter the human being he was.
Dunno if you've done a react to this guy yet, but Dick 'Night Train' Lane is another guy to be amazed by.
Payton is in the discussion with Jim Brown and Berry Sanders, mount rushmore of RBS.
Adrian Peterson needs to be in that convo too

Mate, thanks for making a vid about my hero and all-time favorite player. Nice one.
How about hershal walker
Subbed when I found this a couple days ago. Since, I saw you did Bo a couple weeks ago. How about another suggestion: John Elway.
Earl Campbell please
Fact: mentioning Walter’s name in the same sentence or conversation with M Lynch is a total lack of respect and ignorance. He is not in sweetnesses league on or off the field.
What made him so great was he was not a showboater. He was a humble man. His knickname sweetness was definitely his spirit and how he conducted himself.
Well put notation. Well done.
I love Payton but we cant possibly say that he pretty much carried them to that Superbowl
The main anchor that year was arguably the best defense of all time (debatable) The 85 Bears
This doesnt take away Sweetness greatness and impact but it was kinda hard to say he completely carried that team
1spidersymbiotepool I agree with you. I ment he carried the offense, sorry my bad
Adrik Chavez definitely the main nucleus on that offense but I want to add he had a great line that year too he had All Pro Tom Thayer at guard, all pro tackle Jimbo Covert, and all pro center Jay Hilgenberg
With unpredictable ass Jim McMahon, one of the fastest WRs in history the olympic athelete Willie Gault
And of course at the goaline they put in the big ass "Fridge" William Perry
Buuut this still doesnt take away from Walters presence
He put up a then NFL record 9 straight 100 yd games (Barry Sanders broke it in 1997 with 14)
And he averaged 4.8 yds a game and had 1,550+ rushing yds that season
@@FAMCHAMP The biggest sin in NFL history: in his only Super Bowl appearance, when it was short yardage, instead of letting Payton score a SB TD they gave the ball to Refrigerator Perry; a side show act. I bet Ditka still doesn’t forgive him self for that call.

Earl Campbell
1. Ed Reed
2. Deion Sanders
3. Jerry Rice
All of these are worth checking out. All some of the best in the nfl
thanks for checking out Walter Payton....👍👍
I was literally about to type him in for you to watch next before I saw this video up haha. Sweetness was the best running back to ever play the game.
Alvin kamara please!!👌
Bro you wanna see someone run someone over without even trying? Jerome "The Bus" Bettis.
Jake Berube until Rey Lewis stopped him in his tracks
MedicinalMMJCures He definitely did. But I don't remember many more other times someone put a flat on the Bus like Ray did. It is Ray Lewis we're talking about, one of the best linebackers to ever play
Dave Rennie, the Wellington coach, gave Julian Savea the same nickname because he thinks Savea would truck people like Bettis did, even when Savea is taller and lighter than Bettis.
The bus ran over Ray many times. Ray played one good hit on Jerome ever
Dick Butkus linebacker for the bears back in the 60’s one of the most dominant and feared linebackers in history
Creature my nigga
Creature he needs to do willis and seau first
The Journey that’s fair
If you want to see the pure opposite style of Walter Payton, watch highlights of Earl Campbell. He brutalized defenders from the running back position.
Walter and Earl both have the same style. They were both power backs who ran people over. Opposite would be more like barry sanders
I still like hershal walkers
Marcus Allen.....smoothness
Not sure there is a complete opposite of a running back that can do everything asked of him. Payton would run you over, go around you, jump over you or block you. Hell, he could even pass the ball. Not sure there’ll be another like him.
dm8867 he's still a beast even now
Walter Payton = GOAT
He was a great player. But he was a great MAN 1st that's why they have the NFL Walter Payton Man of the yr award for acts off the field.
There will never be another Sweetness. He was one of a kind, the best kind of man.
This was a great vid he was even respected by jim brown which is rare he does not like most football players and he was even ok with him beating his rushing record
As a Bears fan, I appreciate the video, but Lynch really isn't even close!🐻⬇️
Please do Randy Moss, Earl Campbell, Randall Cunningham, Emmitt Smith, Deion Sanders and "The Greatest Show On Turf" Offense" you will not regret any of them I promise. Some more suggestions could be Jerry Rice(greatest receiver and possibly player of all time), Brian Dawkins, Reggie Bush (college highlights), Lesean McCoy, JJ Watt, Julio Jones, Terrell Owens
Xander Webb please do randy moss lol
Earl Campbell.
Say whatever you want about T.O.'s personality but the man knew how to entertain and piss people off. Also the only player who had the stones to mock imitate Ray Lewis. He'd make a great video.
Ladanian Tomlinson
The best Bush highlight was him getting lit up behind the line of scrimmage by Sheldon Brown of the Eagles.... Probably one of the most crine worthy hits in NFL history
I cant believe you haven't done RANDY MOSS. "You got Moss'd". Most talented NFL player of all time. Could not stop him. Watch randy moss please you will not be disappointed.
i was blessed to see the 85 team in the regular season. i live 2 hours from soldier field. watching sweetness live is a memory i will always cherish. and also got to go to the fog bowl in 88.
Patrick Willis
He wasn't the biggest but the guy had like a 500 pound bench and he squat like 600 lbs. Add to that his other worldly training regime, the man was cut from the same mold as Jim Brown.
Brother quit pulling fake stats out your ass

You're funny as heck bruv! 😂 Never thought watching someone watch highlights could be so entertaining. You're really genuine too!
When great running back and linebackers call Walter Payton the greatest of all time.
There is more to a great player than stats. Great players inspire thier teammates and carry the load.
Greatest part of Walter Payton was who humble he was.
Mike Alstott. The A Train. Ran over the top of people. It was like kids were trying to stop him, Lomu style.
You gotta do Alvin Kamara, he's a rookie running back that just won Offensive Rookie of the Year, and always watch Joseph Vincent's vids, he's the best for sports videos.
You HAVE to see 'cal vs standord 82' "the play". You may have already seen it in a highlight clip, but its the greatest ending to a game ever.
The band is on the field. Incredible game ending play. Best ever for sure.
Maybe to a football game. Can think of lots of ether sports endings
I have seen that play so many times thru the years i now hate it. For a 1st timer watching it however...that would be cool reaction to see!👍🏼
Texas vs USC 2006 rose bowl greatest college championship ever watched
A lot of Rugby in that highlight too.
Lynch isn’t even a top 10 running back. Sweetness is top 3
If you like physical runs then you should react to Jerome Bettis aka the BUS he was a 250 pound running back who are surprisingly quick and punish anyone who dares to tackle him other than Ray Lewis as you seen aready
Maltese Ford Earl Campbell as well.
There is no debate about Walter Payton vs. Marshawn Lynch.

Yessssssssss!!!!!!!
Not even close to the best strong safety, he is good, not close to the best
React to Earl Campbell. The best power running back of all time.
I agree the best power runner of alltime
Sweetness! RIP, and there’s a reason there’s an annual award in honor of this amazing athlete. Dickerson was a contemporary of WP, and gave huge respect.
I had the honor of watching Walter play at Solider Field. He was a great man on and off of the field. Such a stud...
Adrian Anderson don't forget the "Juice"
I also forgot Earl Campbell, and Dickerson
Adrian Anderson watch emmitt or troy highlights anyone that says the offensive line comment is stupid.
Caleb Neff Don't see Lynch making it into the Hall of Fame! He is a great athlete, but nowhere near enough production.
I guess he has fallen off in recent years. I’ve been realizing these last few days that the NFL has changed more than I realized since I was last heavily invested in 2013.
Agreed on Lynch. The debate for best back is really only between Brown, Sanders, and Payton. I'm not even sure Lynch is top 20 all time to be honest.
Go Cowboys
All I have to say is "SWEETNESS"
Another great vid. Sweetness was the best.
Also, MIKE ALSTOTT, RB. You will love this player.
