Holy crap i wouldve never figured this out if it wasnt for this video. Im not used to non obvious free reign with problem solving in any game. Thank you 🙂
This is a great way to do this part! I am only commenting because I found this video when I got stuck. I managed to get Benryn out of the trapped room, but when we got to where is wife's body was, he would not stop mourning his wife no matter what I did. I was stuck leaving him there. I didn't really want to leave the task unfinished. I tried leaving, reloading, different methods of getting him out, nothing would make him leave his wife's side. He would only mention a dowry. I figured that his wife probably knew where the dowry was! Before giving up completely, I decided to use 'speak with dead' on the wife's corpse. Finally! He was able to ask her through me, and I finally was able to go get the dowry and free myself from this task! I am only putting all of this here, because I figured that if me looking for a solution led me here, then it would probably lead other people here too! Thanks for the great video! :D
@@guitarlair I used speak to dead on her corpse and he wanted me to asked where the dowry was. Once I got it, and gave it to him, the tasked was finished.
@@buggsie87 I did that. spoke with her while he was near her, I asked her the question about the dowry for him, brought him the ring, he says: thank you, I won't forget what you did for me. and still gets stuck mourning near the dead woman. I am still stuck in turn base mode.
I created a new game, crashed the ship, and had "let Benryn burn to death" as an Inspiration reward from the beginning of the game. No idea who Benryn even is, haven't even left the beach yet.
Sounds like a bug, but out of curiosity, are you playing a Dark Urge with an evil/criminal background or something? Something dark? To get inspiration from someone burning to death, I'd imagine you have to be playing something pretty dark.
Idk what i did wrong but hes dead before i even get to the door. I assume its from the long rest i took but that was before i even discovered waukeens rest.
You dont even need to do all this stuff. Simply take a character with EB and blast it down from the first door then use your smarts to figure out leverage then flip it with any character even str dumps. Immediately talk with her corpse as he walks out to give him invincibility then trigger the dialogue. Run downstairs again and talk to the drow outside whos dead THEN rescue Floric making sure you get the karlach slam hammer from the locked chest after you release florric. You can do entire thing in 20-30 seconds before fire spreads at all JUST MAKE SURE you dont approach with wyll as it changes stuff in the game state.
Man I heard someone crying for help when I got there but the moment I got there I left to continue exploring XD. When I got back he was dead and tbh I didn't even look something up for him, I was really trying to see if I could prevent the explosion. Not sure if I needed him alive but I can't go back now... 😭
There is a chest in the next room with a blue two handed hammer that does thunder damage when you jump...pick it up and run out. I did burn but survive lol
After saving him, if you come back after a long rest the fires will (for the most part) have died down. This will give you safer access to area. Just for future reference. Might help in a subsequent playthrough.
Apparently they removed the ladder so adjust accordingly. Go into the inn and do turn based mode to get your rescuer into position on the ledge. Might require a small jump. Might still be there though just going off what some other people were complaining about.
No cause in turn based mode everyone has 1 action to perform per round (unless you have multi attacks) so you shoot the door once and have to go through everyone's round before having another attempt at it. As you saw the door has some hp and depending on your dmg may or may not take a while. So hitting the door out of turn based mode is more effective as it saves time😊
I apparently can't do this properly at all. I free him, break the exit, he walks out and dies, then the rest of the village attacks me. Or, I free him, and he immediately starts attacks me once out of the house lol
It can happen if you get close enough to "trigger" the event with him and then do a full rest (obviously not knowing you'd tiggered the event). It is a pretty common thing. I wish they'd make it more obvious.
Now, I could be completely wrong and am only commenting from what I have seen across a few playthroughs of "Act I", but once you wander into Waukeen's Rest, for me if I take a FULL rest, it advances the day and people die and the fires die down a bit in various locations in the town, etc. I'm not sure how it actually works, but that has just been my own experience.
LMAO the ladder is not there anymore to climb up on the roof I guess they got rid of it in an update so I just use my wizard with Misty step to get up there
OFC they did lol. Well for future playthroughs, just as an FYI... You can always make your way through the bath house(?) or whatever it is to the left there and up the stairs and then get out on that ledge with a short hop. Just make sure you put yourself in turn-based mode when doing it just in case they kick off the "fire" where it starts to spread rapidly through the room he's in. Just another approach... there's so many. Hope the video was helpful (even w/o the ladder) ;) Thanks for watching!
This fire is bullshit, I spent all my level 1 & 2 create water spells and it didn't do anything. This is probably the first time I genuinely got pissed at something stupid in this otherwise awesome game
From my experience this can happen if you get close enough to him or got close enough to trigger the Rescue the Trapped man journal entry and then decide you'll deal with it later (or didn't even realize it) and a long rest occurs. It moves time forward (obviously) and he'll just die b/c he wasn't rescued in time not necessarily b/c you did something wrong in the attempt. That is ofc just what I've seen, that may not have been the case in your game.
@@MrCodeslinger Yeah, it happened to me, I believe. I'm not sure if there was any journal entry, but I came close to Waukeen's Rest, didn't go inside and decided to explore other parts of the map first. When I finally get back there, guy was already dead.

Whenever I try it I just get stuck in turn based combat. I can save him and instill in turn based combat. This game is far from the masterpiece everyone thinks it is.
@@iMooney I figured out how to with the wheel menu. Game is still faaaaaaar from a masterpiece lol. Like why wouldn't it just deactivate after I got him to saftey? Who wants to manually turn it off when theres no point to be in it? Poor game design from just a pretty good game.
For me, the dude freakin died in an instant to the fire. I was like, cmon man 🫠
Yep :,) Waddled right in it
For me it was like destroyed the “door” the fire hit one of the npcs and started a fight letting the man to die in the fire :,)
I rescued the guy but his girlfriend died and he is refusing to leave the house. Said he'd rather burn to death. Wtf

Glad it was helpful Raven. Thanks for watching!
Too bad he took fucking forever. No respect for our time, just advertisers'.
How do you get out of turn based after saving him?
My guy ran into the fire on the first try lol.

same bro 😭
to be hoenst i didnt even noticed that he was still alive XD
I thought I did something wrong because he would not move past that point so I reloaded my last save
What is a resuce?
My thing is that the game gets stuck on environment's turn. after I rescue him.

How do i leave the encounter. It wont let me
Very slick! Im just about to do this quest for the first time so this was incredibly helpful. Many thanks.

Benren is already dead when I arrived
What a out saving the lady ??...
thats the best time I've seen fire done as an environmental hazard in a video game really feels dangerous compared to most video games
Thanks!
Surely you can switch to turn based mode and THEN shoot the door???

Same, even with the sorcerer at the right extreme of the building. I think it is bugged, as many quests.
Same, tried 5 times now. He's dead the moment the door breaks

I apparently can't do this properly at all. I free him, break the exit, he walks out and dies, then the rest of the village attacks me. Or, I free him, and he immediately starts attacks me once out of the house lol
if you steal benryn wife corpse he will think his wife still alive somewhere
Benryn's*. That sentence makes no sense like that.

man going turn based was smart. thanks.
No idea why, but Beryn is already dead when i show up

I think mine is glitched I can’t get out of turn base mode even doe I saved the guy an gave him the ring everything an I’m still in turns mode
Thanks! Saved me many more tries and a headache.
Glad to hear it Robert. Thanks for watching!
How do i get him to leave the burning building
Thanks for the video. I used this video as a guide.

I just ran in put the fire out and saved him through the main entrance lol
The guy keeps dying to the explosion.

Would you mind walking me through this process with me. ? 😢😅
Thank you for having a voiced tutorial.
i think mine is bugged, why is he showing in my camp and cant move
I don't know why but in my play it is bugged. They are already dead and can't save nor him or the elf sorcerer. Even in turns play.
