      Yeah man I agree, back in the day he definitely knew how to write an all around good song, he wrote a bunch of very catchy tunes, with killer riffs, nice melody...also not a bad singer, especially in blues stuff.

    Awesome!! I just finished the last bit of soldier without faith yesterday, this is a such a great solo, I think ill tackle this one next, I've definitely been much better able to improvise neo classical licks into my own playing thanks to these solos. Hey thanks Joe! Grate to hear you're improving your chops! This solo is awesome and the best thing is it's probably least technically challenging YJM solos ( not to say that it's easy, just less scary :))) so it's worth tackling it, great melodic licks. I think Andy James from 'Lick library' did a lesson on 'I'll see the light' solo so you can check it out th-cam.com/video/nQQD5SEO60c/w-d-xo.html

I actually snagged the licklibrary dvd Andy did with that on years back so ill have to give it a watch, wasn't sure how accurate it was, I started far beyond the sun years back on it and then life sidetracked me. But if you give it the stamp of approval that reassures me! I don't know if you listen much to Jason Beckers stuff but he definitely used some malmsteen licks to great effect. Anyways thanks again for posting this one, I can't wait to get home from work and give it a go soon.

    Hey man WOW first thing I will say is I'm soo sorry - for being late to the party! Big fan of your channel and dedication, content , improv, tone , all amazing so far. I'm one of many people commenting who enjoy what they are seeing and hearing, thank you!🙏🏻
    .
    SO, I have a *Slash lick's request* that I BET you've never played or atleast aren't very familiar with! if you can believe that then Here we go the song is :
    :
    *Tijuana jail solo & outro solo!*
    By Gilby Clarke *ft. Slash* !
    From 1995
    .
    A HUGE gem/ sleeper by the man in the hat - Slash is like EVH feature him with a different artist like how Eddie played on MJ's beat it - and you know its him from the first notes in the solo!
    The riffs are killer as well kind of similar to rocket queen but what I really would love see you teach is the licks from the solo and outro solo!
    .
    I will even go on a limb and say that when Slash is a guest feature or outside of established bands he works that much harder - you will hear these 2 solos and feel like he really put his back into it! This song was with Gilby Clarke while Slash was in Snake pit and man does it show! I really loved that era he can hold his own no matter the musical context or crew involved.
    .
    I'm sure if you do a video on "tijuana jail solos" the true Slash fans will enjoy seeing this rare deep cut broken down and everyone else will be blown away by what they hear for the first time. No one has played this solo and taught the licks on TH-cam yet!
    .
    I say this is his best unknown solo because he sticks to mostly unique licks and key changes instead of sticking to anything in his usual bag of tricks you might be used to hearing or playing
    *
    Please lmk what you think whenever you see this; I want you to know if youre playing- im paying! I'd be *happy to send you a donation* of sorts on paypal etc since you're playing for everyone and taking the time to make these amazing videos 😊 I know it is *a huge positive* for me in these Covid times.
    🙏🏻🎩
    .
    Cheers from Niagara Falls Canada and have a good one thanks in advance!

      Here's the best link/ quality of the song tijuana jail by Gilby clarke featuring Slash🎩! :
      th-cam.com/video/Gp4OVyqn3p4/w-d-xo.html
      :
      the first solo is at *2:25*
      the last solo is at *4:28* minute mark. Also about 30 seconds long
      .
      Like I said in these 2 particular solos he uses licks and switches keys like he never has before in any snakepit or Guns n roses material some licks and bends are trademark Slash yes but when he picks up speed and moves around the neck I think you will agree that he was in the hot seat and even surprised himself while recording it !
      They're Slash licks like never before and caught my eyes and ears instantly so I'm glad they did for you as well to some extent clearly thats why I'm happy to spread the word! 🤘🏻😉
      Gilby is no slouch either hammering out the f# riff with punk style vocals that contrasts Slash's sleezy soloing.
      .
      Anyways I can't thank you enough for such a fast and equally generous reply I wasn't expecting that! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

    So you gotta tell us. Did you know these solos when you started this series, or are you learning/transcribing these, getting them polished, recording, editing, all in a week?

    • @chasingfrets
      @chasingfrets  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well some of them I knew ( kind of) before I started making the specific video and then I just hammered out the licks for that lesson ( for example 'Magic mirror', 'You don't remember'... ) pretty much the most recognizable solos that I fiddled with in the past so portions of it stuck with me which made the job easier. However majority I had to learn from scratch ( week to week bases). But here's the thing, Yngwie recycles his licks a lot, basically it's like ten licks he plays over and over in every possible solo, so after 2 years of doing this you kind of train your ear to recognize those patterns and then just fill in the blanks like melody lines, bluesy stuff he throws in and so on. Don't get me wrong, I put in hours and hours every day to bring you these lessons, so I'm not saying it's 'easy' for me, it's just that I have an easier time digesting those licks and figuring them out in a reasonable time. I'm sure if you're learning these lessons that you noticed yourself that certain licks just feel 'familiar' and that you're getting them down much easier in terms of at least memorizing them easier , certain scales resolving in similar fashion and so on.

    What other equipment do you use to get that tone?? Thank you

    • @chasingfrets
      @chasingfrets  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I use Guitar rig 5 patch which consists of: psychedelay, spring reverb, custom Eq, screamer distorsion, Citrus amp and 'Controle room' cabinet (you can find all of this components in that program in the 'add component' section) and I also put a 'Blackstar HT-Dist pedal' in front of it to dirty it up a bit -but much of the tone is in the way you play, your articulation, dynamics, vibrato all of that-that's where the most important tone is.

    • @chasingfrets
      @chasingfrets  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For recording I use Guitar rig 5 and sometimes I put an analog pedal (I have a Blackstar ht dist distortion pedal) in front of it. I don't use processors so unfortunately I'm not too familiar with them, however Yngwie uses a very old school tone so I would recommend that you find a distortion that has an '80s sound, he also uses digital delay and a bit of reverb in his tone so those are 3 simple and main ingredients of his sound. I also found this video that might be helpful to you, I think that there is a link in the description to download the Malmsteen patch, it sounds good to me, I hope it helps! :) th-cam.com/video/swE0IilzSBI/w-d-xo.html

      Hi Eric, I use free software called 'TuxGuitar' to transcribe the tab but then I modify them in photoshop ( to make them black , put writings and cut into small sections etc.) so it's a combine effort for end result, cheers!
