Here's the thing. Jacob is 38 which means he would have been born in 1982. Most of his childhood and teen years would have been 90s. He wouldn't have personally experienced anything from the 80s as a child. He's consuming the decade through the lens of the media which is always kinder and less accurate than it really should be. I wish Haley and Pastor Cal asked him more questions about his love because it's clear that he's romanticizing it. He's already said he likes how it makes him feel positive. Why would you need to live in the 80s to get that feeling? I feel like people who romanticize past decades as "the good old days" are really looking to escape from something in their current lives they believe would never happen in this fantasy realm. I don't mind that Jacob likes the 80s. I would mind that he's using it to as a means to avoid dealing with his problems though.
Good point!! What you're saying makes a lot of sense to me. I couldn't figure out why, but I found myself thinking that it would make more sense for someone born in the 70's to be so obsessed with the 80's. (Much like 80's babies are with the 90's.)

Yes, I don't like how Paige is getting so much criticism since Paige just got married not dating. She held marriage to an extremely high standard not believing in divorce and believing that God placed her in front of him. Maybe her self esteem is low but I've seen many women behave this way, not just Paige and it is indoctrination ( not necessarily negatively indoctrination but it is onesided indoctrination).
I just feel extreme empathy for Paige.
This is a very broad statement to say about Christian women in the church whose marriages have failed .
Just like anyone marriage that fails it can be multiple reasons and the #1 reason may not be wifely duties/socialization

Yes!! I've been searching the comments to see if I was the only one! She admitted in her confessional that she makes "smart comments" all the time. I just don't think people ever call her out on it, so she doesn't feel it's a problem. She layers it with a smile and a laugh to make it into a joke, but it's condescending all the same. If I were Vincent, I'd be fed up too. It's Day 10 and she's been nitpicking everything he does -from the beard, to the shoes, to the champagne... enough already!

You're not alone. Brianna gets on my nerves. She is highly annoying, but more people are focusing on Vincent's reaction. His reaction was so strong because it was a build up of her irritations over the week and a half. It’s annoying and not everyone would respond kindly to it. This doesn’t make what Vincent said at the end right though. People have different personalities and should learn to accommodate each other’s differences, even if means that one person is not as outspoken as the other.

I feel like as viewers of this show we keep wondering why Chris does certain things but the things we'd think he would do requires someone with dignity, valor respect for others and respect for himself. I think Chris struggles in those areas

I gave up hope on Paige after this episode. She showed she had no spine or self worth. Experts should have pulled the cord to rescue Paige from herself.

I agree with you guys most of the time but disagree with your assessment on Vincent and Brianna. I agree with him totally that she was being disrespectful. It was not her intent, true, but even as she was making those statements, I was noticing his face and cringing a bit. They have known each other a week. Yeah, they are on a relationship fast-track, but truth is she doesn't know him well enough to settle into that sort of derogatory teasing, and also she is so alpha that she doesn't bother to read the room as often as she should. Now, did he respond appropriately? Not entirely. He was right in telling her that it bothered him, but he doesn't yet know how to have a disagreement with her. I think that's why he left. He is afraid of his own responses during conflict -- he has alluded to that fact many times -- which says to me that he doesn't know how to navigate disagreements, probably because in his past disagreements led to dissolution of the relationship. His fear over the disagreement escalating into a break-up is what sent him running for the hills. Hopefully Brianna and the experts and life will help him learn how to handle relationship difficulties going forward.
I agree he doesn’t know how to navigate a disagreement. On one hand he doesn’t want to say it the wrong way also he doesn’t want to blow up…if you watch it back he tries to be careful when expressing how he feels…he’s gonna have to open up so she can fully understand why her comments trigger him…
I agree, I believe Vincent thought having a champagne toast would be romantic but it ended up getting him scolded for being messy. I am sure he is tired of her sarcastic tone. Briana will need to learn how to change her communicative style with her husband. Him leaving the apt let her know he was serious about this issue.

100% agree with you @Sharon's Channel. And not only did Bri's family label her bossy, but she was laughing and calling herself bossy a few episodes ago. I find it hypocritical that people have the objectivity to recognize that "small" complaints are often symptoms of a larger issue, yet can then criticize Vincent for his reaction to Bri's "joking." This wasn't about a joke, this was the culmination of Bri's constant need to speak on Vincent's every action.
I agree @sharon's channel. I noticed how she had to comment about everything he was doing. She herself made note of how if someone doesn't put something back she goes behind them. Also when she said "very Vinny of you", what frame of reference did she have to make that comment? It implied like she's seen him be clumsy several times before. It kinda came off condescending. He also can't just walk away if she does something he doesn't like. That is not fair to her if she is telling him she genuinely doesn't know what she did wrong and is trying to correct it. They each will have to learn the other's communication style but will also have to make adjustments on how they communicate with one another.
Paige got serious issues. She allowed so much abuse for only 11 days. She was completely open to ALL his negative behaviors.

When men are embarrassed or ego becomes a little bruised, that's not the time to joke, but the time to stroke. Briana saying, "That's okay honey," or cover Vincent by playing it off at that time would have been the "honey" that would have taken them out of an awkward situation.
Tired of coddling men like little boys. Become a secure, confident person (it takes self work) and NO ONE can belittle or embarass you. Period.

We women know that men have big egos, so why further damage it by magnifying a mistake that he had made with a joke? We all have sensitive areas or insecurities that our mates don't know until they poke it with insensitive jokes or statements. The whole marriage thing that some people miss is about being a safe place for our mates to be vulnerability, make mistakes, and show their flaws. When we see them, to make fun of them in a joking manner doesn't facilitate grow of your mate or the relationship. It just causes the person to hide.
