The discussion at @48:58 regarding template-overrides or copies and this "user.ccs", whether it is affected by updates etc, please allow me to clarify: First of all, "user.css" is indeed a override - Your Browser first loads all the original CSS, then at last loads the newly created user.css-file (chek your source-code). The newly created file does not alter the original CSS, it just adds it on, later - And during an Joomla-System update, the original CSS files might change, but the user.css will not be effected by that update, thus your template will still look the same. Nice, BUT have a look in your Browser (inspect an element), it first loads the original stylesheets, where for example the Browser is told an H1 = 1 rem, color black, the Browser does exactly that ... until the Browser reads the newly created stylesheet where now its told "no, the H1 = 2rem, color green" and now the Browser has to change that again. The consequences are that another stylesheet has to be loaded AND your page-speed will be effected. To many users this issue is not really noticeable. However to any algorithm of a search-engine, this can make quite a difference. Run your website on googles page-speed with / without your added stylesheet and see the difference in the results and read the comments. If you have a well-known business and you don´t rely on search-engines to get customers, then this might not interest you and then probably you wouldn´t use the Cassiopeia-template either. Anyone else shouldn't take this matter lightly (Lisa, that counts for you too!) If you create such an additional css-file, I strongly suggest you keep your css to a minimum (no unnecessary white-spaces, no line-breaks, no comments etc., exactly what ".min" stands for), or as mentioned by Laura later on, convert it to a genuine .min-file (yup, another Joomla-file !). You also should be aware of, if you style a specific element in that template, but in an system update that class-name, or id-name of that element changes, your CSS will have no effect on that element anymore (happens constantly in the core-files). Therefore you should add your own css-classes to specific elements - your own classes will remain regardless of what Joomla update-changes are coming.
I'm even more confused about Joomla, as I was with wordpress. Where are the tools for building, or changing a page? I've just installed it on a localhost, but I can't work out how to add a page or edit it.
That's so funny. I am searching for this topic and find my buddy from former days explaining it to me on TH-cam. Thanks Elisa :). Greetings from Kris from Jugendgruppe Nürnberg :)
Many thanks Elisa for a thorough walk through of the Cassiopeia template customization. I am a having challenge that I would like you to help me resolve. It is about the READ MORE button. It is not functional after applying it in Joomla 4. I have tried the settings on global configuration as well as on the article page but the whole articles are still displayed and the READ MORE button does not show. Could the problem be with coding? If yes, how do I solve the problem? I await your kind assistance. Regards.
One thing I don't understand. If i change the index.php file, it will be override in the next update and I don't see a simple way to copy Cassiopeia as standalone template.
Hi, Thank you for the tutorial. I want to move the hamburger menu over to the right of the mobile menu. I can use the command in the live code "ms-auto", but when I put this in the user.css file, it doesn't work. Would you have any information on this?
thank you for the tutorial, but not very usefull, because the video is fuzzy (mainly from the second half on) and all the instructions hardly to read on desktop😟👎 ...

Thank you Elisa for this incredibly helpful analysis!

Thanks for providing this. Exactly what I need! Greetings from the Hohenlohekreis.
Thank you, this video was really very helpful - great!
Hi, very nice presentation. I have a question: what's the cookies extension you used?
This may not be reviewed by Elisa, I would put your question in the Joomla Forum, forum.joomla.org/
Please tell me how to change the font color in the main menu

Hi Laura!!
Where would I have to insert a javascript code for the cookie policy and not have to use an additional component?
Thank you Elisa, that was very helpful!
how can i change the size of article titles in
Cassiopeia??
Thank you so much!
Hi Laura, are the links that you mention in this webinar available still? They would really help to follow along. Thanks. Roger

@@rytech123 Thank you so much Laura. I really appreciate it.

I would recommend using a child template. This way your index.pbp will mot get overwritten! The child template started in joomla 4.1.

Very useful thanks!
Hi! Where is that github link which mentioned in 8:25 Please!?
very nice
Thx you for the video usefull to me :)
It is helpful, but they still didn’t mention that what we should do to start creating templates to install and use the templates. They left it at CSS.
This workshop was not how to create a template but to work with casseopia which comes with joomla4, a very plain template that you can do a lot with.
Can you please let me know about templates

Hallo. Where is the file: user.css ?
ΟΚ. I found it all on your website. Thank you very much!

You might actually want to create a separate channel to keep these good videos separate from the garbage content on your private channel. What a SCAM.
