    I work for many years with both wordpress and joomla for my customers. I can underline all your statements 100%. Most problems definitely occur with wordpress. A plugin battle like no other. Not to mention this mess and the loading time of wordpress pages. People get blinded by all the shiny wordpress templates. At some point they sink into chaos and contact me. This is then one of the few advantages that I can think of regarding wordpress! 😀 Thank you for your explanations on this topic!

      Ya....lol....make it so hard to use you will pay a developer. Ha....and an infinite number of 3rd party proprietary Saas companies with a plugin....let's pay and pay and pay some more! None of that is open source, you don't even control your users data, a third party does on most of the promoted plugins. WP got really sad in recent years

    It's really great to see so many people like Joomla for the obvious reasons. We have a growing user base since the release of Joomla 4. Still we need people to test the patches and help develop the platform. So if everybody have some spare time please test some patches or join one of the Joomla teams and help with other tasks like translation or documentation. Regards, Rick Spaan President of The Dutch Joomla Foundation.

    This is a great list. I sometimes struggle to explain the differences between the two and you outline some key points. Your description of Wordpress Themes is spot-on. I've updated templates on Joomla sites many, many times over the last 15 years, without ever having to rebuild the site! Money saved over 3+ years is SIGNIFICANT. Great cost-savings for my clients, time-savings for me, and allows for overall better customer service.

    Excellent, and you didn't even mention SEO. I find that one of the biggest myths is that people think Yoast is the silver bullet, but whenever I see a WordPress site, Yoast is installed but they haven't actually taken any action, rendering it useless. Moreover, Joomla can do much of Yoast in the core, meaning you don't need a third party extension.

    • @mavrosxristoforos
      @mavrosxristoforos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, Joomla is developed in a way that forces you to structure your website for better SEO. That's what I mention about menus. However, the point of this video is exactly what you said about Yoast and WordPress in general. I'm not saying that they are not excellent systems. I'm saying that their presentation makes people think that the WordPress way is the only way, and that is not true.

    I believe there is at least one more important factor which is speed. Joomla websites are fast and lightweight in front-end and back-end. On the contrary even the back-end of WordPress is annoyingly slow. But to be honest I believe that the difference of Joomla and WordPress is not 5, 10 or 50 reasons. WordPress is a famous CMS but Joomla has become the absolute professional tool for creating advanced websites in the most easy way.

    I used Joomla since it was called mambo up to version 3.6. I finally got fed up with all the security vulnerabilities and switched to WordPress, knowing of all its downsides but betted on the larger userbase for better security, only to find out that it was actually worse as crucial security updates started to break theme and plugin functionality every couple of years. I have now stopped using any CMS for the frontend and use them occasionally only as a backend behind a whitelist only firewall, and building the frontend purely in JavaScript.

    • @mavrosxristoforos
      @mavrosxristoforos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have heard a lot of people do that. To be honest, it sometimes depend on the project. If you need user access, you're better off using Joomla instead of making your own session-handlers, because that's just re-inventing the wheel. On the other hand, I also have a couple of one-page websites that are HTML-only. Generally speaking though, I think that Joomla has entered a golden era after version 3.5.

    • @SquareballoonCoUk
      @SquareballoonCoUk ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have been using Joomla CMS for a few years. I was wondering about this whole new updated Joomla 4 and now 5. Why is it that such amazing, brilliant Joomla developers and programmers, founders of open source Joomla software, cannot develop an import utility for those whom are using Joomla 3 to import their website content, database, template and hyperlinks into the new Joomla environment correctly?

    • @mavrosxristoforos
      @mavrosxristoforos  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, to be honest, Joomla migrations have always been hard. However, what makes them so hard is usually the extensions and not the core. Migrating from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 is much easier than what it used to be, and there's a lot of effort to run extensive checks before the migration. That's why you should always pick your extensions carefully. At mavxr.com, we thrive to issue frequent updates in order to provide the best experience for our users.

      Yes, of course. Joomla could give you a good amount of control over changing your information without editing HTML. However, you would have to convert your existing HTML into a Joomla template and then add the rest into content, like articles and modules. It is something you can do on your own if you have the time and already know HTML.
