I want to create an override for articles template and include the content of a custom field in it. Not above not under the article... how do you do to call a specific custom field into your template override? Does anyone know?

When creating the article, the author enters the date but I would like to have the age shown in the article. Thanks in advance for any help you could provide

For instance: Is it possible to have some kind of place holder as a default value (let's say __referer_from_session__) which is then dynamically replaced by a plugin? Or is it possible to fill a custom field through http-get-request? I tried lots, but unfortunately, nothing of my trials works.
