This one is bittersweet to go back to because both Paul Walker and director John Singleton have passed away. It's weird and fun going back to these earlier movies, before all the characters got their mutant powers and secret agent skills, back when they were more or less still human.

No lie this is my favorite of the series. It has so much classic 2000s style and the characters are so fun and amazing. Tyrese was such a fantastic edition and it’s kind of a shame that his character has been altered so much . John Singleton (RIP) was such a great edition and I always felt they should have brought him back to direct more. Paul Walker’s cringy street talk is also insanely hilarious because his character always feels like the white boy tryna fit in too hard. PS: all hail Brian’s Skyline
EJECTO SEATO CUZ!! Easily the funniest movie in the franchise, for both intentional and unintentional reasons. Tyrese should really do more comedy focused roles cause I think that's what he does best and he brings a lot of funny to this movie and the series as a whole.

The girl who played suki had never driven before coming to America for this very part. She learned over the course of 3 weeks and was one of their best precision drivers, Paul walker was an amazing stunt driver in real life so the fact that he said she could drive well made me have tons of respect for her.
Tyrese is pure comedy gold Fun behind the scenes fact: The purple car was supposed to have yellow seats but they had to change it last minute because Tyrese saw it and said: "Hell no, I ain't driving no Lakers car"

Top 4 of the movies in my opinion. There were actual races and casting was great. Even with the occasional ridiculous parts. I miss this era of the franchise. It was more raw and had actual heart and was able to do so while being fun.

For the next movie in the Fast series, I recommend skipping Tokyo Drift and going straight to Fast and Furious (the 4th one). After Fast and Furious 6, then you should watch Tokyo Drift. Regarding the storyline, it makes more sense to do it this way
Late comment. Saw this in theatres on opening night and was cool. I watched again on the DVD when I rented this movie from blockbuster. The Turbo-Charged Prelude was dope and a good catch-up story with Brian. I did like the other characters, friends and villians. Tej (Luda) and Roman (Ty) were nice additions. Especially Roman with his snarky, anger and funny demeanor. 2F 2F has a cooler blend of tones. The 'buddy action' thing was a nice touch. The driving was still on point (as always). The post-credit sequence was fun cause it looked like a video game. Soon after that, Fast and Furious games were coming out. The late, great John Singleton made all kinds of movies for 20 years. Rarely is he mentioned when talking about The Fast Saga. Because he made a movie that was a good 'first' sequel and it would lead to bigger things. The Brian & Roman partnership worked so well because Paul Walker & Tyrese Gibson were the best of pals. I heard they had the time of their lives working together. Like brothers, almost Inseparable. Between the behind-the-scenes stuff and interviews, you could see a genuine friendship.

He wasn't actually supposed to hit the parking meter but did and damaged the car, which was actually being rented from one of the technical advisors of the movie. The reason he was driving on the right side is because it was a real Nissan Skyline GT-R imported from Japan by a company called Motorex.

The way I recall the whole Vin Diesel thing and sequels thing going down was like he was basically "we don't do sequels because sequels are always failures, so I'm gonna go do new things" (we don't mention Aliens at this point), but somehow was persuaded into doing Chronicles of Riddick which was a fairly big success and was then basically "actually.." - and the rest is history as they say. My view on sequels is if you don't make them a pure cash-grab and have a good art reason for doing them and a valid story - go for it. Without sequels we wouldn't have John Wick 2 and 3 (and soon 3 and 4) and that would make me sad. I got into it a bit with Joseph Mallozzi (yes, that one) on twitter over 2f2f, because it's actually one of my favourites in the series and tokyo drift one of my least favourite, and he sees it the opposite way - I'm right, he's wrong. Sure 2f is flawed in some ways but it's a bunch of fun and sets up a lot of things that happen later and introduces some great characters.

the fast and furious franchise is my favorite movie franchise in general but I think the movies have declined in quality after fast 5. 6&7 weren't that bad honestly and I would be very satisfied if they ended it with the 7th movie. 8&9 were over the top, nothing to do with cars anymore, more of a sci-fi movie than an action movie about cars yk? But I still love the franchise and no matter what I say I still go and watch all of the movies bc I'm attached with the cast and the dynamic!
