- A short tutorial on what and why we use aqua panel instead of plasterboard/plywood or Hardie backer. To help you you set out and use the correct method and finish with a result that won’t lead to it failing. Hopefully helping you if your either just diy or doing a full spec refurb.
Thanks for the tips that you give, love watching them. A Natural!!!!
Good to know about the tape! Just doing my Bathroom!
Glad I helped out. ;)
Hiw did it go
Hi Thanks for your video, do you also need to tape over all the screw fixings everywhere? Thanks
Hello. Thanks for the video. Do you recommend AQUAPANEL® Board Primer for priming before tiling ? Would it be a major problem if priming was not done? Thanks.
Hey Seth…to be honest a simple acrylic primer isn’t expensive and doesn’t take long to do …it stops the suction and let’s the tile bond better to board. Not major but your definitely notice a difference…gives you more work time too
Old video, but hope gets answered. What sealer to use on them? Knauf board base coat extremely expensive! Thanks
Depends on what your using it for !? If it’s interior then a standard acrylic primer to stop suction and drying adhesive out ….message for more information if needed
When your slabbing floors do use adhesive and screws?
Depends what your going onto …usually use hardie backer on floors ….always worth screwing and adhesive to give best results
What are you filling the joints with and would you tank the space prior to tiling?
Filling the joint with a flex tile adhesive as with what you would like tiles.
As for waterproofing if it’s a wet room area maybe. I usually tape internal corners as that’s the most prone to leak.
Sometimes tanking I find is overkill and an added expense.
Hope this helps
That's great, thanks so much

How do you fix every 200 on a 400 centre stud as recommended by Aquapanel? As you can tell this stuff is driving me nuts.
So these bathrooms were fixed with plywood before fixing aquapanel over the top. This then gives you your fixings. These boards were glued and screwed, hence no washers. I find hardiebacker is better but more labour time to fix . It’s sturdier to work with though. Does this help ???
@@TheBeardedTiler cheers mate. I am doing 4 ensuite shower rooms a family bathroom and a cloak room. If I use ply anyway why can I not just use the 6mm?
To be honest if your doing that …why not use hardie backer ??? Saves you time as your only loading the wall once ?? This was done to spec of designer …there are so many different types of board out there …I know that cement board can take longer but has a better load per sqm2 …just make sure it’s sealed as it sucks the moisture out of adhesive …
@@TheBeardedTiler many thanks.
I bought the Aqua on advice but will most def go foam core next few bathrooms. The tiles are only 9mm porcelain!
What an idiot, won't be doin it this way again.
I have 120 msq of 900x600 natural stone to lay after this!
Can I use a diluted PVA as a sealer?
Yes….personally I would say yes as long as it’s diluted ..hope this helps
Производитель aquapanel не рекомендует клеить сетку на панели. Следует утапливать сетчатую ленту в тонкий слой штукатурки для избежания появления трещин.
