      When I read the video title I thought it was about creating a no-code builder .. so creating the builder itself 😄
      .. in this case my answer would have been "Yes, I'm currently working on such a tool" ☺️ .. but no, I've never made a website without coding at least parts of it 😎🤷‍♂️

    As a person with a lot of coding experience, I always check out all these new "no-code" solutions to see if I can save some time on small projects. I always resort back to coding every time because these tools only work for simple requirements with very specific configurations. They all fall apart when you try to use them for projects with complex requirements. I am not bashing them, I am just sharing my knowledge and personal experience. The best "no-code" tool that I have used is a tool called LabView, it's more of an Engineering tool, but that's what I hope we'll get in future for Web/Mobile Apps.

    • @ArnauRos
      @ArnauRos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree with you, having coding experience will always trump setting up all of these new tools. There can be issues regarding it that might not appear with your own custom build. However, the main idea is that if you aren't familiar with coding you can still get the project out. Which is awesome for the average joe!

    So with all of these different SaaS sites being pieced together like Legos, it brings up some obvious issues for someone like me, a 30 year Systems Administration professional. Firstly, how many trust relationships are involved in a individual site? You have at least half a dozen companies with their fingers in your data, and how well do you really trust all of them? This creates an absolutely enormous attack surface with that many 3rd parties involved. Second, what happens to the web app if one of those companies goes out of business? If you are building this way for clients, and you have build 100 client websites this way, you now have 100 clients that are angry because their site is broken. Third, having to link all of these different SaaS services surly must introduce significant latency to the system, slowing down the responsiveness of the web app. Finally, having that many SaaS providers supporting the web app would make it very fragile. as for every additional one you add, you have added another piece that if they are having service issues, could break the web app. From my perspective as a traditional Systems Administrator, it looks like you are building a house of cards.

    • @ArnauRos
      @ArnauRos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      Yep! You’re right on all points here, ideally having everything on your own system would minimize attacks & risks of external failures. But, this is a great way to get to where you need to be without needing any developer help. It’s almost comparing a formula one car to a go kart, ideally most people would love to race with the f1 but don’t have the resources, so a go kart will have to do!

    • @mathue3728
      @mathue3728 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Valid points, but in my opinion this is a better alternative than wordpress and all of its 3rd party plugins. I trust Webflow’s integrations stability more than Wordpress

      @@ArnauRos ..And also no code can help you make a proof of concept and more to show the business running to investors, or to develope the early stage of your product and grow to other more stable tech. Could you talk about integration with languages like javascript to extend functionalities ?

    • @thahunt
      @thahunt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Valid points, but this is why a lot of engineers are slow to start businesses. You can piece something together in the early days but once you get some good traction build something from scratch.

    • @GinoZambe
      @GinoZambe ปีที่แล้ว

      Very interesting point. I studied computer engineering in university and see from a base level you are bang on!
      But, for most low code/no code people the flexibility of these softwares is what gives them the benefit plus if a company goes under you should really be backing up your saas or website on an external file/folder.
      Take for instance @elementor and @WordPress (I used to code websites for clients but now I mostly use WordPress with Elementor as it is easier to manage any changes needed + because it is what most clients I have come across demand! aka a WordPress site not a coded site.

    I use bubble, i recommend bubble for backend applications. Not for like blogs or anything, the SEO is still a work in progress, the editor is kinda outdated. I will say that Webflows CMS restriction is what is holding me back. My company produces 100s of lines of data a day and bubble doesn't limit that, only file size for images videos. So if you website is content heavy like mine, stick to bubble, if not Webflow is your best bet

    • @ArnauRos
      @ArnauRos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Performance wise products built with these tools are fast, however in terms of security and dependability on different softwares that is an issue. Lots of moving parts means lots of possibility to fail, however if you're not able to take the custom code route it might be your only choice.

    Pretty nice video!!

    • @ArnauRos
      @ArnauRos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The benefit of airtable’s database structure is you can combine several different tables in order to create a single group of data. For example
      Shirt color
      Shirt size
      With airtable you can combine the two, being able to show a Red XL shirt for example. Then you connect that table in Webflow and you can now display it. Imagine that example, but 10x the data points like for a car marketplace. You need to be able to connect many different CMS collections in one table.
      Hope that made sense!

    I want to ask you webflow is for building website with no backend functionality. Is there any no code other than bubble which has backend to build web app.
    Another question: how I can monetize my built websites. Thanks.

    • @ArnauRos
      @ArnauRos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Webflow can be used for many things, I would use airtable as the 'database' for your backend, server would live on the webflow servers. Not sure about other apps that have a backend, bubble might be your closest bet.
      Monetisation isn't my speciality, but you can try running ads!

      Any platform would work, you need to be able to properly connect all points into one database. Webflow, airtable, and zapier should do it for you. Take a look at connor finlaysons channel he helps people build marketplaces with no code which is similar to what you want to build

    A lot of Figma users still don't realize that Webflow is their future. Use Figma for design exploration and specific projects (like, say, a mobile tab bar) but for most projects, it doesn't make any sense to use Figma.

    • @ArnauRos
      @ArnauRos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recommend still starting in figma before webflow, even its an easy project you can iterate much faster through a design software rather than a development one

    Hi Arnau, Thank you for this video. So I'm looking into webflow as an option, been working with figma, divi and Wordpress for a few years now but I'm afraid that if I go the webflow route I might loose some of those seamless integrations like woocommerce and so on.
    I do believe that where things are going, webflow is going to be be the future. How would or what resources would we need to have a seamless integration using webflw, when it comes to e-commerce, pay gateways, email delivery systems ad so on. The basic stuff that we know Wordpress has plugins for? Keen to hear your idea but the more I resources I get about webflow, I'm starting to get sold on it.

      Hey, webflow ecommerce is pretty great from the start. You can customize product pages, check out page, and much more. Webflow is working on a logic system right now to help with automation of email sending like you’ve mentioned. Also, connecting to mailchimp or any email service is super easy. Hope this helps!

    I have a health blog. And I want to display drug information and drug interactions data on my homepage. I have the API key and required licence and credentials. Tell me how to do it of my own . I don't want to hire a developer to do this. Is there any no code platform exists that ease this task?

    Great content Arnau, but the clicking sounds (mouse, keyboard) are something we're exposed to all day long and it's bloody irritating. Also there is a growing number of people with misophonia like me that find it utterly unbearable. Thank you.
