Thank you for your reply! I viewed your upload of “11 Harrowhouse”, I must admit to not knowing of this, obviously, excellent film! Thank you for sharing, and making the time to upload for us! Be well, JSE.
A beautifully acted "worm turns" scene, where Mason, who has suffered throughout the film under Gielgud's chilly rule, gets to defy his authoritarian boss. Very satisfying to see him screwing up Gielgud--because what does he have to lose? Two prime actors at their best!
Gielgud and Mason had a unique rapport not exploited by filmdom. The possibilities were endless, with each able to easily fit different roles. Actually they would have made a good Holmes,( Gielgud), and Watson,(Mason). 'Oh ye casting agents of little faith'
They actually did, only separately. John Gielgud played Holmes on radio (archive.org) - alongside Ralph Richardson as Watson and Orson Welles as Prof. Moriarty. James Mason played Watson on-screen, with Christopher Plummer as Holmes.
Eloquent, articulate & debonair mold was broken after James Mason, perhaps reason he wasn't knighted was he registered as conscientious objector during WWII
Hi, Can you upload the whole movie? I would love to see it. I am a big James Mason/John Gielgud fan. (I refuse to go near Amazon as well, and would love to see it online). Thanks!
This excellent 'it takes a thief' theme film should of been remade more recently, but i dont know any blonde actress that do comedy wit and intelligence with model type beauty,,,,,as well,,,,Possibly JLAW??? Plus the american actor,, that would be an easier choice since many nowadays could fill the Grodin role....
It is indeed a great privilege to watch two greatest actors of Britain.Thnx for sharing such a nice quality video.👍👍👍
Great movie, brilliant cast 👏😊

Bravo, Sir John.
Also nice to see Peter Vaughan!
"Watts! What on earth was in that bottle you were drinking from?"
"A rather delightful aperitif, sir. It's called 'Thunderbird', I believe."
WONDERFUL THANK YOU !!!
2 great British actors. Mason had a nice voice

amazingly well done
A very neat and underrated film.
"But sir, two of the directors are on holiday."
"I DON'T CARE IF THEY'RE ON POT!"
“I don’t care if they’re on pot!!” 😂😂😂😂 LMFAO 3:23
BURTON AND MASON BEST VOICES EVER

HOW did I miss this?!
Probably because it's not a very good movie and this is the best scene in it!
I need to see this!
Jack Watling! Haven't seen this film, looks good
fantastic
James Mason est un des meilleurs acteurs Anglais, avec Sir Christopher Lee !
Eloquent, articulate & debonair mold was broken after James Mason, perhaps reason he wasn't knighted was he registered as conscientious objector during WWII
And went on to play Rommel 😊🤣
If I remember correctly they lowered a long tube and vacuumed out the diamonds, with Mason's help.
Have been trying to find the film for ages, alas to no avail. (I refuse to go near Amazon.) Nice to be able to see a clip at least of the old masters.
Gielgud overacts, and Mason keep shis cool, and shines, God bless him!

John Gielgud and James Mason? Couldn't the have found a couple of better actors for this movie?
Well, no...I suppose they couldn't.
please don't be ignorant .....
So, what had he done with the diamonds
As he said, he ate them. Were you not following along?
@@docmalthus I assumed he didn't literally eat them but stole them. Wouldn't diamonds come out the other side intact if eaten.
@@columkenn Not to give too much away, but his accomplices made off with them. But Mason was the only one in the vault.
@@columkenn And to answer your question, yes the diamonds would be intact...the small intestine, not so much.
@@docmalthus Is the movie worth watching? Last movie I watched was Zulu) Similar era
Does this plot remind anybody else of the movie "Flawless" with Michael Caine?
It woz Grouty wot dunnit.
Gielgud has a woody
Mason sounds ridiculous saying "sir". Clearly he should have been given Gielgud's role.
So much talent wasted in such a rotten film.
