As a “Military Brat”, whose father was a “Lifer”, I understand the sacrifices that our Military men and women make to provide for our security and well being. PLEASE take time to honor the sacrifice and loss that Military families endure. We sacrifice and suffer as well. My mother would often gather me and my two siblings for a short prayer. “Dear Lord, Life as a Military Family demands resilience in the face of constant change. We pray for the fortitude to adapt to new surroundings, routines and challenges. Grant us the ability to bounce back from adversity and to teach our children the value of perseverance. May our family’s strength inspire others to overcome their own trials. With you as our guide, we trust that we can weather any storm that comes our way. In your name, we pray. Amen!”
I was about a hundred feet away from (and far below) when President Reagan spoke these words. “ We have every right to dream heroic dreams . Those who say that we're in a time when there are no heroes, they just don't know where to look." God bless you Hillsdale for inspiring young people to continue to dream heroic dreams, and God bless America!
*IF YOU ARE A FOLLOWER OF THE TEACHINGS OF JESUS CHRIST YOU SHOULD BE BEGGING FOR GOD'S MERCY, NOT ASKING FOR HIS BLESSING. I AM A VETERAN. ARE YOU? I SAY YOU ARE PROBABLY A COWARD BECAUSE YOU HAVE LEFT A COWARDLY MESSAGE.*
Although it has been 13 years since my nephew was killed by an IED in Iran, I still remember him and his service to this country. And yes I still cry for him. He has a son who never knew his father and the special man he was. It was so important to him to protect the US. Thank you to all who have or are serving in the military. And also to the first responders during this pandemic. And to the Gold Star families who remember in sadness, their loved ones.
I promise to remember your nephew. As Abraham Lincoln wrote: “I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.”
My motivations today are purely selfish. I am so grateful I don't have to remember my younger brother today. I can call him anytime I want. He made it home twice. There are still a lot of things he can't talk about. Some because of national security, some because they take him somewhere he'd rather no go anymore. I know there are a lot of people not as fortunate as our family. I cannot comprehend their loss because I was spared that pain. I can only honor their sacrifice and that of their loved one by doing my part to preserve what they gave their lives defending. My children know what their uncle did and why. I imagine over time they will understand it better and see that they share a great responsibility in not squandering what he and so many others protected. We are blessed as a nation. The faith and strength that drives so many to serve are hard to comprehend. While we are remembering the fallen today, let's remember the ones who physically, emotionally and mentally left a part of themselves in a foreign land so that others could get a taste of freedom, and so that we could continue enjoying ours. They still hurt. Many are still fighting battles they did not expect and do not deserve. They still need overwatch and reinforcements. That can only come from us.
After 11 years, I still find myself remembering those I stood with, fought with, prayed with and hope that the price that they paid will never be forgotten nor degraded. I pray that I will be worthy of the price that we paid when we took the oath of office and never stop believing that we are the greatest nation on Earth. I miss you guys.
Having never served my Nation in the Armed Forces, my 3 older brothers served in Vietnam. My Father in Korea, grandfather in Well. After all I have learned it is my firm belief that ALL serving our Nation and Honorably discharged are HEROES of AMERICA and we'll deserving a dedicated salute!
I am proud to say that I burned my draft card during the junky Vietnam war. It was better to burn ones draft card than to have gone to Vietnam and bound babies. Many of the men who obeyed the junky draft law went to Vietnam and came home in boxes or came home crippled. Other men who went to Vietnam came home as war criminals. We all know about the Mi Li massacre.

What our country is going through presently is not to break us, but to strengthen our resolve that we shall use this "divide" as a painful, yet necessary lesson to own up to our bit of responsibility in it, own it, learn from it and teach it to others so that we will NEVER repeat the last two years ever again in our future history_
We are a blessed nation, if only every one would know it. I recently lost my husband who was a veteran of the Vietnam era. He loved this country! 🇺🇸💔❤️
I was not yet 18 years old when I was aboard a ship off the coast of South Vietnam for Operation Frequent Wind. While it was sad that so many Americans died there, but that we were able to save so many South Vietnamese, it somehow helped. As I look back in my mid 60's I so wished that I would have served under the Gipper.

Memorial Day is not a "holiday". It is a sacred day to remember all those who have given the last full measure of devotion, for God, for Country, for Freedom, for Good, and for Right. It is a day to honor the sacrifices of the families whose sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, fathers, and mothers came home in flag draped coffins. It is a day to reflect on how we should live our lives to keep this a nation worthy of those sacrifices.

_I know myself to be extremely emotional to the beauty of this - My America! However, this angelic harmony has reminded me; to borrow and alter a little from Ehrmann, "With all it's sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful [America]..." What our country is going through presently is not to break us, but to strengthen our resolve that we shall use this "divide" as a painful, yet necessary lesson to own up to our bit of responsibility in it, own it, learn from it and teach it to others so that we will NEVER repeat the last two years ever again in our future history_
Ive enjoyed President Regans speeches more today than ever.. RIP..MY PRESIDENT
We are a blessed nation, if only every one would know it. I recently lost my husband who was a veteran of the Vietnam era. He loved this country! 🇺🇸💔❤️
brings tears to my eyes. it makes me even more thankful for the service and sacrifices that these brave men and women make. God bless America
This guy has been dead for almost 20 years but when he speaks it gives me goosebumps and tears..
33 years of service and so many friends gone. God bless those who gave all and I'll look for you in the light.

God bless the composer of this song. I'm deeply in tears listening to this song
Thank you for this.
Even I'm not American, I'm still touched
