Thank you for this video. Brought this during the week for a camping this weekend, was great to know how to set up by myself and all the other little tips you had in there.
thanks Deanne for taking the time to leave a comment. Means a lot, thanks! 👍 So glad you found it helpful 😀 Have a great time this weekend in the great outdoors! Am sure you will! You shouldn't have any probs setting it up. The roof lining might be a bit tight when you first set it up, as it's still new obviously, but it won't be too tricky to get it on 😀 Have an amazing time, and feel free to let me know how you went when you get back! Cheers, Rob
This convinced me to get the slightly smaller 2.4m Deluxe for my solo camping. You certainly made it look a lot easier than my trial run in the back yard went 🤣
G'day Karl! The smaller one is great too... and takes up less room when packed into the 4wd/car as well, which is always nice! Oh, you will get the hang of it in no time! 😀 Let me know how you go on the first trip with it, I'm sure it will be great! 😎 Glad the video was able to help you out mate! Cheers, Rob 🍻
@@TheWandererAUS It went pretty well! Didn't have too many dramas getting it up, and I'm starting to get the hang of it. I love having shade that isn't attached to the ute and can be positioned where I need it, especially as I'm doing most of my cooking on the tailgate.
@@KarlEller Great to hear it went well!! Like you, I also prefer to not have an awning attached (at least for the moment) - as it allows you to be more flexible with your setup, and can go for a drive etc without having to pack anything down at your camp. That was a super-duper setup and pack-up instruction, thank you. I am considering a gazebo as I don't have a roof rack for an awning and this could be good if I have the space in my rig. They are fairly big.
G'day mate! Yeah, I also don't have an awning on my roof rack, which is the reason I went for the gazebo option 😊 well worth the investment mate. Thanks for the kind words too, really appreciate that! Am glad it has helped you out 👍 cheers, Rob 😊
Bought one of these for motorcycle track days. Unfortunately, the first time I used it, I couldn't peg it down and tried concrete blocks, but it got so windy I took it down. I didn't want to be that guy whose gazebo was blowing across the track. Up until then, however, I was impressed, and now I'm trying to find a way to peg it down without pegs... Good video.
G'day Steve, thanks for the kind words mate! Smart move on dropping the height in the strong winds! You are right, no one wants to be that guy who's gazebo is flying away! 😂 OzTrail do sell sand weights that wrap around the legs of the gazebo. Not sure what the total weight is when full of sand, but they are pretty heavy when full. There are 2 types, a white, round unit, and the other are smaller bags that strap around the leg. The white solid ones might be the better option if it is up in the wind at the track, as you can double stack the weights on each corner if needed. 🙂 Let me know how you go mate! Rob
Cool video. Didn't realise those clips locked into a certain spot always just clip em onto the arms. Personally the last thing I do is peg the legs. I find when putting the walls up you often need to move a leg in or out to get it tight. Walls up then peg the legs.
G'day Bradley! Thanks for the comment mate, greatly appreciate it!! Glad you enjoyed the vid! Yeah, a lot of people don't realise the trick with the clips. So don't worry, you aren't the only one! 👍 Yeah, that's a fair call about pegging the legs. It really is something I if it is quite windy at the time of setup, just so I can let go of the whole thing and having a certain level of security knowing it won't blow away on me, otherwise, yeah, the legs often get pegged last as well. Thanks again for the comment mate, hope to see you around the channel again! Cheers, Rob 😎
Thanks so much for this. I live in my van fulltime travelling on my own. I sacrificed inside space for this gazebo instead of getting an awning to stealth camp in the city but wanted shelter when camping. Your video gave me the confidence to be able to put it up without help. I'm only 147cm so I don't even care to leave it not fully extended haha. But it's good that I have the option to take it to the 1st notch so I don't hit my head on the poles. Now I just have to look up how to do the knots for the guy ropes! Oh and yeah I watched it twice and realised those clips have a proper place and I was wondering what the extra Velcro on the roof was for. Glad I bought the side wall too. Great video! So helpful.
G'day Zephyr, am so glad the video was able to help you out! 👍Sounds like a great setup you have there! The extra shelt🙌er of the gazebo when camping is something you have to have. @@TheWandererAUS thank you. I am about to buy one and so tried your link in the comments but it is out of stock on the amazon listing. That's ok there is one at a local store here. For the floor mat, the Oz Trail one is 2.7 x 2.7 and says it's designed to fit the 3 x 3 gazebo but you recommend a full 3 x 3?
@@infinityroads1061 Thanks for attempting to use the link! It's a pity that it isn't in stock... also, I should probably remove that link anyway, as I am not affiliated with Amazon or anything, I just put it there to help people find it in a hurry. As you say, the local camping stores all stock them, which is great, and personally, I think buying from the nearby store is better anyway... keeps businesses up and running! 🙂 The floor mat I actually use is from Adventure Kings. It is one of the best items they sell... most of their stuff is of lesser quality, and designed for those who are just getting into camping, however, their floor mats are absolutely fantastic for the price! Their mats are exactly 3x3m, so fit the legs of the gazebo perfectly to line up with the peg holes as you would have seen in the clip. The OzTrail floor mats I haven't actually used, so unfortunately I can't say either way if how the fit is, or how effective they are. However, for it to say 2.7m for a 3m Gazebo... that doesn't really add up to me 🤔 Happy to be proven wrong though! 😂
@@TheWandererAUS thanks, that's what I thought but package states designed for their 3 x 3 gazebo. So I was a bit confused. I'll look for a 3 x 3 one. thanks for getting back to me so quick.
Hey hey! Yeah it's a common misconception that you need to take the top canopy off... If packed up with care, it will be totally fine 😊 just remember if you pack it up wet, to take it out when you get home to fully let it dry 😊 glad this helped you out! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment too 👍 cheers, Rob 🤠
Thanks for the comment Chris! Appreciate it 😊 Yeah a lot of people aren't aware of that little slot for the clip, at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if it's in the slot or on the bar, still does the job 👍 Glad I was able to help out mate, that's what it's about 😃
You didn't purchase the gazebo with the anti pooling technology from Oztrail? Also, you leave the cover on the frame when packing away? Great instructional vid. Cheers
G'day Steve! Yeah that's right mate, this is the Deluxe model that was out before the 'Anti-Pooling' version. As you may have noticed, but using those side straps to centre up the top of the canopy with the frame, that creates the tension to stop any pooling. Have had this Gazebo now for nearly 2 years or so, and through some big storms (which you can see on some of my trip videos) - and never once had any water pooling issues 😀 I have seen the anti pooling version, but haven't had any personal experience with is, but the idea looks right too on that one. I do leave the top on mate, as I am condensing down the frame, I just take a bit of care to make sure the canopy doesn't get too caught up in the frame as it folds together. Haven't had any dramas with tearing etc. Thanks for the kind words mate, appreciate it! Hope it helped! 👍 Cheers, Rob 😎
G'day mate! Great to hear from you again... Hope all is well 👍 thanks for the kind words mate 😊 yeah, a few tricks in there to help with setting it up by yourself 👍

@@TheWandererAUS No worries mate, not many videos go into depth and the nifty little features make it worth it over the Wanderer Heavy Duty, Kings etc. For the sake of $70 or so extra seems well worth it

@@ianreid766 hi mate, thanks for the question, really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment 😊. Initially I was concerned about leaving the roof on and it tearing in the frame mechanism, but after nearly 12 months of solid use and setup and pack up, the top is still in great condition. Those extra linings in the corner make all the difference for sure. 👍 OzTrail also sell replacement roofs as well, so if it ever does can damaged, it's easily replaceable instead of having to throw away the whole gazebo 😊 pack it up with care, and she'll be fine 😊
Hi Rob I need to buy a new gazebo, was thinking about the Oztrail commercial model. These all newer models have the hydro flow arms. Which my old model didn't . I just watched a video of the gazebo that Drifta have. It's like an umbella the way it sets up. Shouldn't be any problems with water pooling on that. My question to you, a long time user of gazebos, would you buy the Oztrail or the Drifta one.?
G'day Malcolm, thanks for the question mate! I have seen those 'hydro flow arms' on the new models, and they do work, however, OzTrail only brought those out due to people complaining about pooling on the roof. The reason water pooled on peoples roofs was due to the incorrect setup of the gazebo. As I mentioned in my video, the side hooks, a lot of people don't actually realise their importance in keeping the roof tensioned correctly. I haven't personally used the Drifta gazebo, only seen the video on it (on their website), and for me, its a little flawed that setup. Pushing it from the centre creates a potential rip/tear point in the corners of the roof lining as the roof framing moves up the legs to click into place. Also, the only strapping on each side are the small velcro loops that attach to the side 45 degree frames, unlike the Oztrail that has the hooks and adjustable tensioners that are also double lined in the roof. The peak of the roof from the inside is better though I feel, as the drifta frame does sit higher above your head in the centre. The walls on the Drifta one have 4-6 velcro hooks that attach to the side frame, even in the video the boys struggled a bit with getting it on, also, the Drifta one doesn't have any options for different branded walls to be attached. Not including ropes in the Drifta gazebo seems a bit weird too me... Looking at that video the Drifta boys did... I wouldn't feel to comfortable having that one up in high winds. I'm not wanting to bash on Drifta here, as I love a lot of their products, and own heaps of Drifta gear myself. It's all personal choice though mate, and go with whatever budget and feel you are chasing mate :) That's just my two cents. I will be taking my OzTrail out again this week for Australia Day up at Hervey Bay... the same one from my video, 3 years I've had it now... still the original walls and roof and framing... It's all in the setup mate :) Let me know which way you go mate... Like I said, I have no personal experience with the Drifta one, so keep that in mind too. And just to clarify, I'm not sponsored by OzTrail or anything either. Cheers mate. Rob
@@TheWandererAUS Thanks Rob for your lengthy reply. I have decided to buy the Drifta one. After I get it and test it out I'll let you know what I think of it.

G'day Diego... I am heading home at the moment mate and will measure up the exact packed up dimensions for you when I get home 👍 Will have the answer you seek very soon 🙂 my initial thought is that yeah, it should fit, but I will double check for you. Don't want to give you the wrong info 🙂
@@D_L_J_83 Evening mate, the dimension when packed up are: 1.6m Long, 27cm High and 25cm Wide. If you were to store it without the bag and roof on, the frame itself is only 20.5cm High and 22cm Wide. With the bag on, the sizes are much larger due to the wheels on the bag, the handles and the side pocket.
@@D_L_J_83 Not sure where you are based, but I reckon head down to your local Tentworld or camping store and ask one of the staff members to try to see if it will fit in your setup. Most of them will be happy to help and check for you :)

G'day at Star... thanks for the question, appreciate it 🙂 The 2.4 is a great size too, especially for a smaller area like a kitchen setup. Sounds like a great idea! These tips for the 3m will still work great for the 2.4m. A few friends that I go camping with use the 2.4 for the kitchen 👍 Thanks again for the question 😀 Cheers, Rob
G'day Gerald, thanks for the question mate! The side walls are actually Silver coated UVTex® 2000 Sun Tough 300 Denier fabric, which has a fantastic UV rating. Your reasoning for having the silver lining on the outside is valid, and would most likely work, however, by having the darker side facing out, the way in which the side walls work... it actually blocks about 98% of UV getting through the walls. You will also notice that the roof lining has the layer of silver lining underneath it as well. Now I certainly don't claim to be a skin cancer or UV specialist by any means... and I wouldn't say I know absolutely everything there is to know about gazebo's either... but I have noticed that having the darker side facing outward... that inside the gazebo is actually darker than the other way around. Obviously there isn't any sort of golden rule for this though and they can be set up any which way you like 😀 I'm always up for new tips and tricks, so if you know of any... feel free to let us all know 👍 - again, thanks for taking the time to leave a question mate... great to have you here! Cheers, Rob 🍻
G'day Mike, thanks for the question mate 👍 most good camping stores like Tentworld, Anaconda etc sell the OzTrail mate, usually for around $140 but they always have sales on them, so you can definitely get them at a cheaper price.
@@infinityroads1061 No worries at all! Super glad I have been able to help you out! Let me know how you go when you give it a go! Cheers, Rob!
Omg I have this one and I did not know you could Leave the canopy on!! Duh😮
I've putting these up for years and did not know there was a place to clip the sides of the roof on. I've always just clipped onto the bar 😆
Thanks for the comment Chris! Appreciate it 😊 Yeah a lot of people aren't aware of that little slot for the clip, at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if it's in the slot or on the bar, still does the job 👍 Glad I was able to help out mate, that's what it's about 😃
I never knew about those clips on the side of the gazebo! 🤣🤣🤣
Glad I could help out mate 👍
Cheers, Rob 😎
Good tips for solo setup.
G'day mate! Great to hear from you again... Hope all is well 👍 thanks for the kind words mate 😊 yeah, a few tricks in there to help with setting it up by yourself 👍
Fantastic, thank you for your detailed instructions.
Hi Marcella, not a problem at all 🙂 hope it helps 👍 cheers, Rob
Great video, will pick one up this week.
Thanks for the comment!! You won't regret it, the are a great solid gazebo. This is one item in your setup that you don't want to skimp out on 👍 Appreciate you taking time to leave a comment too! 🙂
@@TheWandererAUS No worries mate, not many videos go into depth and the nifty little features make it worth it over the Wanderer Heavy Duty, Kings etc. For the sake of $70 or so extra seems well worth it
@@TaticalKnockOut and there I was thinking I went into too much detail! 🙃 Very happy that this helped you out, that's one of the goals for this channel! As you say, and I couldn't agree more, paying that little bit more for a quality product, really does make a difference! It's like that old saying... "poor man pays twice"... or something like that anyway! 😂 Rob
Aren't you worried about damaging the roof leaving it attached. I agree it's a lot easier leaving it on.
👍 OzTrail also sell replacement roofs as well, so if it ever does can damaged, it's easily replaceable instead of having to throw away the whole gazebo 😊 pack it up with care, and she'll be fine 😊
great tips thanks!
Hi Julie, no worries at all 🙂 glad it was helpful 👍 thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! Cheers, Rob
Great video , Thankyou.
G'day David! Thanks for the kind words mate... hope it was helpful 😎 Cheers, Rob
You need to add a different heading
Oztrail set up
Australia,
Always use the main word first
Hi mate, thanks for the advice! Will change the heading and see how it goes :) cheers mate!

Great review thanks mate. I'm keen to get one of these if I can fit it underneath my van's shelving which has 21cm clearance. Would this fit you reckon?
G'day Diego... I am heading home at the moment mate and will measure up the exact packed up dimensions for you when I get home 👍 Will have the answer you seek very soon 🙂 my initial thought is that yeah, it should fit, but I will double check for you. Don't want to give you the wrong info 🙂
@@TheWandererAUS cheers mate, really appreciate it!
@@TheWandererAUS yeah right’ so the bag does add some size to it! Thanks so much for checking, I think I’ll do as you suggested once this lockdown/outbreak settles down and drive to a shop in Sydney. Cheers!
Still got an original 3×3 oztrail , still goin strong , bought a new 1 now so they can sit side by side ,stay clear of those white gums , they drop branches 🙄
G'day Mike, yeah you are absolutely right! Widow Makers is a common name for those white gums... It's hard to go past the OzTrail Gazebos, when setup correctly, they are great! Glad to hear yours is still going strong and not surprised you went for a second one to compliment your setup! 😎👍 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment mate. Hope you are well 🤠 cheers, Rob
Would a deluxe 2.4 gazebo be still as good?
Can the gazebo be used to shelter the kitchen area opposite the tent
G'day at Star... thanks for the question, appreciate it 🙂 The 2.4 is a great size too, especially for a smaller area like a kitchen setup. Sounds like a great idea! These tips for the 3m will still work great for the 2.4m. A few friends that I go camping with use the 2.4 for the kitchen 👍 Thanks again for the question 😀 Cheers, Rob
The ting of shame. Yes.
Haha indeed! Let's be honest... we have all been there at some point! 😂
Remember to unzip the bag folks before putting it back
😂😂 A great tip indeed mate! haha! Love it! 😎
why is the silver portion of gazebos on the inside and not on the outside to reflect the sun
Ting ting of shame haha love it and so true

G'day Jyha! Thanks so much! Just looking to help out others 👍 Thanks for takin the time to leave a comment too... you too... are a Propa legend! 👍😎😃
Where would I buy one of them and how big is it and does it covered walls and how much
G'day Mike, thanks for the question mate 👍 most good camping stores like Tentworld, Anaconda etc sell the OzTrail mate, usually for around $140 but they always have sales on them, so you can definitely get them at a cheaper price. The walls are sold seperately to allow you to choose whatever style of wall you like 👍 hope this helps Mike and glad you enjoyed the clip 😊 cheers, Rob
