As a bladesmith myself, I love watching different folks’ processes for making their blades. That said, it’s no wonder so many knives from the Middle East break…no cleaning of the metals prior to forge welds; no proper heat treat; structural weak points in the shank behind the guard where the post was TIG welded in; etc. It’s a very nice LOOKING knife, but it wouldn’t stand up to heavy use. Nonetheless, cool video.
The welded shank seriously compromises the strength of the part ... They should make the cutting edge and shank in one piece. I would never buy a knife made that way
I have bought thousands of them and sold them for a very nice profit. Others have done the same. I'm not aware of a single one of them breaking at the tang or anywhere else. I'm sure if you misused it as a hammer or pry bar, you could probably get it to break somewhere. They're definitely not Japanese quality but they also don't have the high cost of Japanese steel. To each their own, I'll just keep making money with them.
I just got mine in the mail from Punjab and it's beautiful. It's nice to live in the twenty-first century because getting one of these knives in the 1980s would have been incredibly difficult and 100 years ago would have taken a trip around the world.
I own one of these pakistani knives, it's very nice with blade, handguard and pommel made of damascus, black horn handle. It's not for very hard use, of course. But it's plenty strong and sharp for normal knife use.
People saying they have limited resources ? They have all Machinery possible there. They can’t make a full tang or a rat tail correctly ? The blade is done perfect all to ruin it with a tac welded soft steel retail? One good hit and that thing will snap ….such a waste !!!
İ think they are manufacturing these knives in wazirabad . i had ordered Many dozen of hunting knives from wazirabad before pandemi. May Allah give you all healty life . PK, TR
Yeah man i feel that. But bro me and you can throw away billets and not care. They need every inch to survive. Proly for tourist anyway. Bet they could make a functional knife as well.
Twisting the bar is amazing that it works just like a rubber band or perhaps better? 8:40 Wicked! Naturally from making the handle and presenting it close up I got to appreciate very much.... For some odd reason as I look to see in my mind what it reminds me of. It takes a tough man to make a tender chicken. Does that make sense? I don't know what it would be like to work that hard all day.
The skill and craftsmanship is there. I wonder if they would get a western blade smith there to consult them on proper cleaning, heat treat and blade shapes, that they could make proper knives.
DAMN. Wish I had that talent. But I never will Would love to get my hands on one of those. I don’t use guns but am familiar and comfortable wit a knife. Luca
How much for the knife I would like to get ahold of one. I know it's probably not the best knife but I really like this one. I would like to replace my buck knife actually nothing could reach my ol' trusty I had for over 15 years nothing wrong just would like to try something different.
Такий собі циганський ніж)) Спочатку щось там гартували, потім на високих обертах відпустили метал при обробці. Про стійкість РК навіть мови немає. Сувенір , не більше.
I really liked the cardboard guard on the sander! LOL

Wall decor.
Not hardened steel, for sure 🙄
Fancy looking junk for tourists
Completely agree with you - no borax during forging, unknown metals, leak tang welding...

Looks like a nice product, but for the integrity of the knife, I would make a full length tang. Keep that blade and handle together a lot longer.
İ think they are manufacturing these knives in wazirabad . i had ordered Many dozen of hunting knives from wazirabad before pandemi. May Allah give you all healty life . PK, TR
Great bit of workmanship and a nice looking knife I would rather have a full tang than a welded one
Same here

Why not heat treat it. Without it, all that hard work is wasted
They should be very well paid for their hard work and excellent craftsmanship.
