    I was born into a Catholic family, baptised, educated at a good Jesuit school but since I started listening to Steve, Scott Hahn, Rosalind Moss, Roy Schoeman, to name but a few, I have learned more and understood more about my faith, than ever I dreamed possible.

    The fact that most Catholic can't defend and give answer about their faith is true. My story, I used to live with a Protestant roommate. at that time I thought protestant was just like catholic. so I tried to ask her how exactly is purgatory, suddenly she scolded me. She explained that purgatory does not exist. I was a bit confused and continued to give in. Since then I doing a lot of reading n research about Catholic faith and now I know a lot. No one can fool me anymore.

      I was the same way. I couldn't explain my faith to save my soul. I remember in college an atheist made me cry because I couldn't defend God. Jehovah's Witnesses and fundamentalist Protestants shook my faith and also in college. Before running away, I decided to do a deep in-depth study. And I found that the Catholic Church is true and now I've written a whole book on the existence of God and evidence for God. The Catholic Church is the only church that is been here for 2000 years and has been studying the Scriptures for 2000 years. We have more answers by far than any other church and all other churches on earth. God bless you. Thanks for your testimony.

      Catholics blindly follow the teaching of the Catholic Church before, as the Jesus said to Thomas blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe... And since we're NOT allowed to interpret the bible own our own to careful of what we share.. That's why..Catechism on Catholic Church is from Elementary so most of Us forget and just believe so when someone ask, we don't have answers... Specially in Philippines, I really don't know that outside Philippines there's other denomination or the Church is divided.. All i know is Only Catholic Church 😅.. And don't know that Protestants, baptist have difference..NOW i need to learn so when i go back to my country i could help evangelising the FAITH..specially on my Native Tongue..

      That's interesting points there, but many Christians are troubled by the bowing before statues and images and praying through them, as well creatures/Saints/angels etc. as false worship.

    • @marshallcampbell125
      @marshallcampbell125 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I’m Catholic and will never bow down before a statue or an image. All the statue or image does is allow a person to reflect on Christ or his works through men. All prayers glorify God and his creation. The Israelites were specifically instructed by God to build the Ark to glorify his Holy Angels by the construction of two Cheribum. It wasn’t idol worship, it was to glorify the Lord. There are statues of remembrance all over America, parks, football stadiums, memorials. All used to remember a person or event. Same concept

    • @CatholicTruthOfficial
      @CatholicTruthOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Brian Guglielmin Statues are just symbolic representations of the people they represent. Nothing to do with bowling or praying to. In fact, the Catholic Church condemns praying to statues, and so if anyone does they're going against God, the Bible, and their own church. Statues are similar to have any pictures of your family in your wallet or on your wall at home.

Blessed are you among women Adam and Eve were made sinless and failed Show me where God says he is Changing the New Adam down without a new Eve ? Because here is the original in Genesis 3:15 Genesis

    That's interesting around the 22:15 mark about having righteousness infused. When I returned to my faith I would pray to have the virtues infused in me. We all have a knee jerk paradigm that we operate from autopilot reactions without even thinking about it, a sense of right and wrong that we never really question, it's just there. So I would pray to have that purged and have the virtues infused so that my autopilot in acting and thinking would be founded in how Christ would think and act in any given situation. There is a beautiful practicality in my Catholic faith.

These are not graven images but the images of God's Son and His people on how He comes to save all nations and creation; a much easier aid to bring Faith to the people where almost all of them dont know how to read and write and to understand the written books. Defending the faith is a “brand?” Who said that it’s a my team vs your team thing? This isn’t the NFL. Truth is truth no matter what. Believers are called to test the spirit. Read Rom 12:9 as we’re also called to hate what GOD hates. Gal 1:8 says any other gospel is a curse (ie Catholicism).

    will you guys take a session to tackle the filioque? I'm an ex-vangelical who has been attending Orthodox churches for the past six months and I feel about the East the way you feel about Rome.
    the big schism between is the filioque.
    id really appreciate a 20 or 30 minute video explaining that, because I am deeply confused about everything now. how can the church be one church and not be wholly united?

    • @CatholicTruthOfficial
      @CatholicTruthOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      We do plan on making a video on the Orthodox and how they broke away from the Catholic Church in 1054 A.D. We also plan to discuss the other issues as well including the filioque. We recently heard a interview on Catholic Answers with an Orthodox priest who said that the filioque is not really an issue with most Orthodox anymore. I don't know if you're interested in listening to that interview in the meantime but we thought it was a good one. So yes, the Orthodox will be a topic for the new year. Thank you for the suggestion.

    I have to defend the cradle catholics against the claim we wouldn't argue with protestants or explain our faith in a proper way. I had a group of "friends" who were members of an evangelical church. These were discussions for days, any time I was invited because they wanted me to convert. When they ran out of arguments, they handed a book to me with the title "The h... of Babylon" with a preface of an protestant pastor in which as in the whole book was explained why the Catholic Church is the H... of Babylon. So I argued good and long enough, but they didn't realy want to listen.

    31:40 fyi. I recommend the following book - Beyond the Written Word: Oral Aspects of Scripture in the History of Religion
    'The concept of "scripture" as written religious text is reexamined in this close analysis of the traditions of oral use of the sacred writings of religions around the world. Pointing out the central importance of the oral and aural experience of religious texts in the life of religious communities of both Eastern and Western cultures, William Graham asserts the need for a new perspective on how scripture has been appropriated and used by the vast majority of all people who have been religious, most of whom could neither read nor write.'
    The point that books were uncommon / rare before the reformation largely ignores the way the masses interacted with scripture during before that time. I think as well the people were a bit more literate than he gives them credit for. However the main issue as he notes was the cost of production. i.e. Many could read, but could not afford books.
    Likewise Ray's ignorance of Luther's take on the word of God compared to other protestants is apparent. If he had read 'Resurgence of the Gospel' by T. A. Kantonen he would be more aware of Luther's strongly oral understanding of the word of God, compared to second gen reformers such as Calvin.

    Ive been in the non denominational faith for over 30 years. Forsaking Sin and dying to self is part of our faith. Not something you hear at a mega church but the small non denominational churches preach this. But salvation can be by faith alone, say you come to belief in Jesus as lord on your death bed, there was no time for works. This is why we would refuse to say works has anything to do with salvation. You can do nothing to boast in, and your works are as filthy rags, we simply want to make sure people dont get confident in their salvation just because they do good works, it could be done out of self righteousness and still their heart is far from God or their spiritual walk is cold. They could show up on judgement day saying all the works they did, even casting out demons and yet Jesus never knew them.

    I do have one question though: is saying that the concept of the Bible alone is not taught anywhere in the Bible a form of circular reasoning? I'm not saying the Protestants and Evangelicals are not doing it by appealing to the Timothy passage, or otherwise claiming that everything has to be found in the Bible, but aren't we Catholics engaging in circular reasoning by saying the Bible itself doesn't say to go by the Bible alone? I could be wrong, but asking honestly.

I still have the feeling that I would like horror movies but I cover my eyes the whole time. I wasn’t bothered by nudity because I didn’t see people as individuals, so once I saw a naked person, to me, it was as though I saw them all. Now, if I see nudity I cover my eyes quickly. I’m a smoker and every time I smoke it’s like being flicked in the forehead. I don’t understand why I fight it, I don’t want to fight it, but something inside me does want to fight it. It sounds like you're making great progress! Keep it up! Those are some very good steps. The first step is to remove the sin or the impurity, and the second and more difficult step is to not desire them anymore. Even Saint Paul says in the Bible that he doesn't do what he wants to do and he does do what he wishes he wouldn't do. All because the flesh is weak. The flesh wars with the spirit. The flesh pulls us away from God. But the more we pray, in the more we are in Christ and are closer to him, the less the darkness can have a hold on us. So keep up the good fight. You're on the right track.

    Being a Baptist, or Methodist, or Presbyterian or Roman Catholic, etc. etc. makes absolutely no difference. We are all sinners in the sight of a Holy God. Your religion without God's salvation and Eternal Life in Christ Jesus, being indwelt by the Holy Spirit, will leave you just as you are - in your sins. You need to be born again of the Spirit of God, no matter where you attend. You need to be converted to God in Christ Jesus, NOT to any church system. Christendom is in ruins as regards honouring God. Christ Jesus is locked outside and the so called church is going on without Him or the Spirit's presence in their meetings.

    • @CatholicTruthOfficial
      @CatholicTruthOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This comment is a half truth. We agree we need to be born again and to know Jesus Christ and be saved by Him, however, it absolutely does matter where you attend. Jesus Christ who you claim to follow started only one church, not thousands of competing denominations, especially ones that were started 1500 years after He already started His church. If you love Jesus, the you would be Catholic since Jesus started the Catholic Church which has the fullness of truth. To be born again according to the Bible means to be baptized, Jn. 3:5. So, you must have faith and baptism, but you must also obey the other ordinances our Savior gave us as well, like the Lord Supper, living out your faith, following the commandments, and so on. (We have a video on being born again the _Bible_ way. th-cam.com/video/sjc9rCFt9co/w-d-xo.html)

    • @smeatonlighthouse4384
      @smeatonlighthouse4384 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CatholicTruthOfficial I see Catholic 'truth' has not changed. You are still taking half of the scriptures and misapplying it and then leaving the rest of the scripture out. The verse says except a man be born of water AND of the Spirit he cannot enter the Kingdom of God. For starters being born of water means believing the word of the gospel. Ephesians ch. 5 v 26 says The he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of the water by the word. That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle, or any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish.
      The scripture actually says also 'except a man be born again he cannot SEE the kingdom of God.' Being born again means being born completely afresh in a new way, from God. Unless you are born again and quickened by God you will never understand His word. The Spirit of God works in the heart of the sinner, convicts of sin,, shows Christ as the answer to our problem, draws us to Christ for the forgiveness of sins, then that same Spirit indwells the believer and we are born of the Spirit.
      Having water thrown round you accomplishes nothing at all. Believers baptism is when you, as a converted sinner take you place by faith as dead with Christ to the world and that you life is now in Christ Jesus who is raised from the dead and is the first born from among the dead, a new creation.
      If you are dead to the world and sin by faith, there is no point in trying to clean up the fleshly body as all your acceptance is in Christ Jesus and not in yourself. Being 'saved' is being kept by grace through faith with the blessed assurance in your heart that you are a child of God and ready for Heaven.
      Is it any wonder that millions of devout Roman Catholics have not got assurance of Eternal Life in Christ Jesus, when your doctrine is no where near correct.

    I just attended a training session for sharing the gospel in which several recent converts from Catholicism to Christianity were present. They were Hispanic believers and have been instrumental in leading their siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins to Christ here in the Houston area. It is happening everywhere as they read the Bible and find the truth of the gospel for themselves. So, highlighting one former Baptist joining the Catholic church is small potatoes. Praying more and more will find Jesus Christ and place their faith in Christ's atoning death on the cross and His resurrection from the dead and stop relying on works that will not save. Salvation is a GIFT from God. Ephesians 2:8-9. It can't be earned; it is by grace that anyone is saved through faith alone in Christ alone.

      We agree that without faith you cannot bear fruit. But if you have faith and you don't live it out, you won't be saved. You need a living, working, obedient faith that lives itself out for Christ. That's not faith alone. If a faith does not have Works which God commands us to walk in, Ephesians 2:10, then we will not be saved. Feel free to prove any of Steve's passages that he said wrong.

      @@CatholicTruthOfficial you cannot have faith and not live it out because faith is a motive. It answers the question, "Why am I doing this"? Because I trust that God faithfully loves me. We react to having faith by doing the works of God - fruit of the Holy Spirit, works of mercy, beatitudes, etc. They are not actions! Though faith may also be used to describe religious dogmas and religious tradition. Sola fide describes saving faith which is the motive. And yes without it you don't have a relationship with God. Confusing the various definitions with this "faith" is the result of people claiming Sola Fide is wrong.

      @@hesedagape6122 you can have faith and not act on it, just the same way your kids tell you they are going to do something and they end up not doing it, to bring it close to you Jesus said unless you eat my body and drink my blood you have no life in you. Do you do all that he said or not?

      @@hesedagape6122 then what do you make of the verse that say faith without works is dead? Does it not mean having faith is one thing and working on it is a different thing. It is seems like you are those who believe that to be saved is a one time thing that does not need continuous work and perseverance. And most probably don’t believe that you loose it.

      I just joined the Church but I read a Douay-Rheims and I have a New American Bible Revised edition, the Douay Rheims uses a lot of the older english because it was a translation from the late 16th and very early 17th century, some slight updates were done to it in 1752 though (it’s slightly older than the KJV and is a direct translation of of the Latin Vulgate) but the New American Bible Revised Edition is the one that is used for Mass Readings and it’s great as well, the RSV Catholic Edition is great too!!!
