Hey Brother Congratulations on the Baby, My wife and I pray that GOD will Bless you both with a HEALTHY,HAPPY, BEAUTIFUL BABY, what stories you guys will be able to tell. Loved the van floor build just finished, wanted to give you an idea by using the boat weave flooring that is used on high end boats, as your worried about your height and clearance. Comes in a lot of different designs and colors, But we know that you guys are also masters at this stuff already. We will be praying the vans drive shaft issue works out and we look forward to the next video, Stay safe and keep having your best day, you guys are blessed to have each other , GOD BLESS YOU BOTH 🙏❤️📺🚐
Thank you so much!!!! We really really appreciate that! I'll have to look into that, is there a specific brand you would recommend or should I just google search boat weave flooring? The van is back at the dealer now, hopefully we get it worked out!
This build should be made into Netflix series, you two are the main characters and funny-crazy neighbors adding to the storyline. But this is perfect because I don’t need a Netflix subscription!!
OMG! That looks so easy! I think of all the struggles I had with my subfloor and wish mine had been that easy. But even then I don't think I could stomach the $$ they are charging. If you can afford it that is a wonderful solution even if you don't use the radiant heating.
I’m SO glad I stumbled (and now subbed) across this channel! I was seriously debating DIY for our build with heated flooring. Not now! That looks so easy compared to measuring everything out on our own!❤🙌
👍 On the radiant floor heating! In my opinion, I would try and keep all the future van builds a "couple" two person effort if at all possible. 👍 I found the combination of technical "stuff" along with the interaction between you two to be very entertaining... yeah keep the neighbor (in a limited role)! You know... we are two of the luckiest guys in the world... To live with talented, beautiful partners (inside and out) along with being able to live life on our terms... PRICELESS! Ski Update... I did a few beautiful runs this morning before work in fresh man-made powder... even with the lack of snow and warm weather the season has been fairly decent! The ski instructor gig has been amazing.... KEEP LIVING THE DREAM!
Agreed I love when Taylor gets involved it’s so much more fun! I agree it’s priceless I’m very grateful!! I’m off to Breckenridge in a week for a boys trip, can’t wait! Hope all is well Lee thanks for the continued support!
i bought the coollant water pump 15 kw for that purpose. I did not bough the foam and tubes yet. Are you sure that will not risk to freeze or leak? that what I am affraid. MY floor of my box truck is in thick 2x6 inches and 1/4 inches plywood on top of that. the floor is in excellent condition. look like new and it is 20 years old floor. that is why i don't want water go on it. Also my last question is about the winter time. in Canada sometime is -20 celcius. average -10 celcius. how to be sure the water of the shower and sink will not freeze? can i put inside that floor too?
So why if your floor insulation is c n c,d does it leave the ribbing area hollow below the deck? Seems inefficient and a space for condensation. Also 4000.00 for just this subfloor system without the mechanicals? Ouchhhhh
Hey, I have been following you guys for a little while now. I like the whole ideal of radiant flooring. Planning on doing a van build later this year. I'm sure that I will be building with this in mind. I'm also interested in how you will incorporate the water and heat. Great job. looking forward to the new van build.
I had the same drive shaft issue on my 2008 extended. Its the universal joints. The OEM Universal joint does not use Zerk fittings. There is a version that does use Zerk fittings. Use the version with Zerk fittings and grease them every 20k Miles. Problem solved. Mercedes dealer tried to sell me a new drive shaft
I didn't realize that 3/8 pex came in a variety for hydronic systems. Is it rated as Oxygen Barrier PEX B? I didn't know they made it that small. Cool set up.
I looked into that floor when I bought my rixens system but the price is was so obscene I decided against it. I think it might be the best thing out there though.
I hear ya Michael, I wasn't excited to do this DIY since I'm very concerned about internal height and this was the best solution without a doubt. Can't wait to get our Rixen's hydronic system installed as well!
So have you been able to go out and try out your floor heating system? If you could do it the same way again would you? What was the cost of this floor? It looks amazing and I am getting ready to do a cargo trailer build out. Thanks
If budgets not an issue I would add the heated floors, but I wouldn’t solely rely on it, make sure you have an air blower in your hydronic system in addition to the radiant floors
Nice build guys! Has the wood worked out fine for you as the floor top temperature wise? Also, did you install any vinyl floor on top of the wood panel? Trying to figure out if my 12mm OSB + a vinyl floor on the very top will allow the temperature go through nicely? Thanks a lot guys!
would it be crazy to place it in without adhesive? Kind of like a floating floor installation with LVP? Just seems like with the template interlocking and being held in place with the wheel wells that it wouldn't move around much, and if you ever needed to get underneath it then you could pull it up easier (provided your cabinets and what not aren't too permanently mounted.)
how do the nails or staples work, do they go through the floor or into the rubber pad? Wow, nice kit! Sure a lot faster than measuring n cutting everything.
Its 5k if you get a top floor from campervan hq. If you select “no top floor” it’s under $4k. Still a good amount of money, not arguing that, but it’s not $5k
@@MathersOnTheMap Actually mine was $5500 for the same floor. I have a 170 ext van, so with the floor, shipping, birch plywood top and the extra parts from Rixen to make it work it was $5500. Also I did not get an option to skip the birch top floor as they said it comes with it as a package........I really hope its worth it......would love to know how you have been liking the floors? Thank you!
what a great idea/design! Any idea how long it would take to heat up that space and how much energy you'll need/do you have to keep the system running? I'm going to have to add this to my wishlist for when I start my build!
You just threw your money out the window unless there’s some form of insulation underneath that Radiant heat is going to heat the metal and go right out take for someone to install radiant heating for years
As a mechanical and thermal engineer, I can guarantee this system is absolute non-sense. I don't know how much you've been paid to promote this, but that's not nice for the people who gonna be scammed because of you :(
@@MathersOnTheMap foam thermal conductivity is not significantly lower than plywood's. Given that the foam is in direct contact with the body of the van, where you can have convection of freezing air, the temperature gradient while be way higher on the foam side. Therefore your system will heat outside your van, not inside. Also the aluminium transfer plate are useless in this case. They are not directional so will transfer up as well as down. @@ValerienClaire-uv2sr I am an engineer. I have experience in HVAC as well. Heat rises. You need to properly insulate between the van floor and the PEZ-AL-PEX. Using 10 MM of Aerogel blanket should be more than sufficient. I used 20mm in my build. I put Kilmat down first then the Aerogel Blanket. After assembly, I checked with a thermal camera and a IR thermometer. The radiant system was running as hot as I could get it. The engine was off and it was about 35°F outside at the time. Hahaha
This looks like this van will be a million dollar van when they complete their build. 🎉🎉🎉
Your neighbor Glenn brings a great element to your videos. It must be nice having folks like him around your family.
Haha agreed! Glenn’s great!!
Van flooring just got easier to installing the carpet and the equipment of continuing the van to building a different level of a van flooring!
Great system. That will be great in the colder climates. Nice work.
