    Thank you for posting. Love these films. I enjoy the street scapes, cars and fashions of the day. What great resources for the historian 👍❤️.

    That overtaking move at night was a worry - the car seemed to be traveling in the opposing lane for an awfully long time.

      There’s another film on this channel about car thieves and joy riders, so the idea that car theft didn’t exist in the good old days is wrong.

    Thank for posting this latest installment of this excellent series. It has the feel of being the last one. But it's been very enjoyable nonetheless. I'm not sure his night time overtaking manouver would as necessary today though...

      One more in the series - Automatic Car. It does seem like this was supposed to be the last one and they then added on the next episode about automatic transmissions.

    Love this series. Any idea where the country town scenes were shot?

    • @brianocampo7981
      @brianocampo7981 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is not a country town but Melbourne. The driver is heading south on Wilson Street in Princes Hill, right next to the public school and crosses Pigdon Street at 3:20, slows for the pedestrian near Patterson Street at 3:36, then finally turns left to Richardson Street at 3:55 and heads for Lygon Street.
      Nowadays, the first intersection is a roundabout and the third crossroads is controlled by a Stop sign.

    Thanks for posting this beautiful video. If you put some detail would make it more nicer. I mean if you could write the name of the roads, town and places. Is John Laws the commentator?

      It's a combo of clips from Sydney and Melbourne. Where I could identify them, I will timestap them below
      SYDNEY - George Street southbound in the city near Grosvenor Street (4:14, only the Metropolitan Hotel and Morrison Bar still there), William Street eastbound in East Sydney (4:22, 6:49), Elizabeth Street northbound next to the railway viaduct (4:25), Prince Albert Road anticlockwise around Hyde Park (4:41, in the background are St Mary's cathedral, NSW Lands Office and the old convict Barracks)
      MELBOURNE - Wilson Street southbound in Princes Hill (2:34, 3:14 commentary drive), left turn from Pigdon Street to McIlwraith Street (2:51, nowadays illegal), Yarra Boulevard southbound in Kew just after the intersection with Yarra Street (5:22)

    Not sure if double de-clutching reduced wear and tear on the engine and transmission. Surely it would reduce the life of the clutch.
