    Oh by the way, the bosses in the Nox are NOT invincible, but they are usually something nuts like level 80 when you're 30. Basically they are meant to avoid as they can even kill your party members while you're not controlling them. They are meant to come back later.
    Defeating the bosses in the Nox otherwise gives you a big amount of the 'red crystals', so in some cases it might be faster to kill the boss than finding the rest of the crystals.

    I didn't realize this came out yet so when i saw this uploaded i immediately bought it and have been playing since then. I definitely enjoy doing everything there is to do, the moment i get access to it, like going back to old dungeons and getting the treasure chest i couldn't get without the right power. I think this game is pretty great so far, I'm on chapter Six and I'm super curious as to why there are two Adol's and really want to figure that out for myself. I'm also glad your review didn't really spoil anything for me. I think the grind is definitely fine, even fighting for the Nox points, but as many others stated the side quests give you basically all you need to open the next area, but i find myself fighting them a bunch to get elixirs so i can sell them and make better gear/buy the best consumables. Getting 8500gold in the first chapter is an insane amount of money and all my characters are equipped with the lifesteal gloves, playing on the difficulty after Hard because i have a problem so i need all the help I can get. I love this series as well, I hope to see a great next gen experience on their next release. Saying this game has PS3 or worse graphics is pretty harsh, it's definitely looking and playing like a PS4 game, just a low budget art style. There are worse looking series' out there.

    The Trails series has been doing very well financially, so Falcom's budget has been increasing a bit. Judging from the previews for Falcom's next Trails game, I think the next Ys game is going to look much more impressive. Especially if they keep it out of any big cities.
    Oh, and speaking of Trails: it's becoming an action RPG series! Well, sorta. You'll be able to switch between Ys style combat and Trails style combat. At will, between fights. Yeah.

      Personally, Ys Origin was my least favorite in the series (just below Memories of Celceta). I did play it on Hard, though, which kind of ruins the game in a lot of ways, so hopefully you're having a better time with it. I highly recommend emulating the PC Engine versions of Ys I - IV, they're the definitive versions of each of those games and put the Steam versions of Ys I & II to shame. Also, Oath In Felghana and Memories of Celceta are very different from the original Ys III and IV, so I would make sure to play the originals first and then the remakes/reimaginings at a later time.

    I loved this game, but not quite as much as 8. I played on the base PS4, and it runs at 30 Fps in the city, and 60 everywhere else.
    As for the visuals, I can forgive them because the city map is by far the largest unbroken map Falcom has ever made. Which was necessary due to the new traversal abilities. I liked exploring the city too. Overall, Falcom continues to prove they are masters of their craft, and eagerly await their next title.

    This game really grew on me, during the first half or so of the game I kept worrying if this game was going to match the excellence of Ys VIII, as I continued playing I stopped caring about that comparison, the games narrative and environment are so unique it stands on its own. I was sad to say goodbye to the characters at the end. I didn't think there was any chance I'd like this game as much as YsVIII, I'd still give it an edge but a very slight one. It's a brilliant game but I hope some new gameplay changes occur in the next Ys game because I can see combat getting stagnant If they continue with the current system.

    I loved Ys IX, I had heard of the series but never played them. I was hooked right away, after getting the platinum I got the same for Memories of Celceta and and am finishing up Lacrimosa of Dana, heading into Origins next. Great series.
    P.S. If you do the side quests you won’t need to grind for Nox points, as they award plenty of points per chapter.

    • @Kenthis15
      @Kenthis15 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Jesse__H Honestly so far, IX, followed by VIII.
      8 is really great but I don’t care for the story much and has way more filler than most Jrpgs. Memories is a Vita port so it takes some getting used to. IX just felt the smoothest to play, with the best aesthetics, and a story that dragged on a little bit but didn’t really overstay its welcome. 8 and 9 both really feel great to explore with though with all the mobility you unlock.

    • @Jordan3DS
      @Jordan3DS 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You really gotta play the PC Engine games at some point, you're missing out!
      In terms of my least favorites, Memories of Celceta and Origins are at the bottom of the franchise by a wide margin, so if you're not really into them then don't think the rest of the franchise is like that

    • @Kenthis15
      @Kenthis15 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jordan3DS I liked Memories of Celceta actually, just things like no camera control annoyed me (which I blame on it being a Vita port).
      Ill get to older games when I can, I live in a small space and my budgets tight. I finally gave Ys a try after finding the Trails games, think im just a Falcom fan now. I just got a really good deal on Tokyo Xanadu and ill try that next, then probably Ys Origins.

    • @Jordan3DS
      @Jordan3DS 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Kenthis15 I just felt like I was on auto-pilot for the entirety of Memories of Celceta, it's just so "eh" that it's hard to really feel either way about it. It also doesn't help that it's a """remake""" of Dawn of Ys (my favorite game in the series), yet it has basically nothing to do with that game outside of weaker arrangements of the music from that game and the setting.
      Emulation is your friend when it comes to the first handful of Ys games, just download the Mednafen emulator (which plays TurboGrafx CD games) and get ISOs of Ys Books I & II, Ys III: Wanderers from Ys, and a translated ISO of Ys IV: Dawn of Ys. You'll also need to get the translated version of Ys V for the SNES, since it never came out in America.

    • @Jordan3DS
      @Jordan3DS 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd honestly recommend just emulating Ys I & II on PC Engine instead of playing the Steam versions. The music sounds WAY better, there's full voice acting, the visuals are far superior, and the gameplay overall is better. The PC Engine version was far ahead of its time when it released in 1989 whereas the Steam version is just the really cheap 2001 remake with little money or effort put into it. By owning the Steam versions you can legally emulate the game, so there's no moral grey area there!

    Side quests give you Nox points, if you do all of them you'll almost never have to grind them out. Also the tower defense stuff was a drag. Also just so you know, you have a stats screen that shows time played along with other metrics of your gameplay. Took me 63hrs but I did every side quest. I didn't love this game but still liked it. When your in a dungeon and the music is pumping it's great. Just takes a lot of BS to get to that point
