Lyrics:
Mama take this badge from me
I can't use it anymore
It's getting dark too dark to see
Feels like I'm knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door
Knock-knock-knockin' on heaven's door, eh yeah

Stood outside the rail of a high bridge one dark New England night with a frigid breeze in my soul. Was about to take the plunge when a car drove by playing this song. I froze in place and called out to The Almighty.. Still here listening.
Always knockin. Wondering who’s there
Thank God!
I listened to Bob for 60 years. He can sing HIS song any way he feels like.
yes he can but I wont pay good money to listen to him ...
@@innis52carra This his best version!?
Bloody hell. He is possessed by the lord. How many got the Nobel prize...
@@ajaypalsinghbhatti8901 for literature ;) no offense, I respect his work, see my other comment. BTW, this unplugged evening, he must have been in a good mood. This is his good mood, I would say.
so am i !
My Dad just passed away. He loved Bob Dylan, and this song is just tugging the heartstrings right now. Rest in peace, Dad.
R.I.P, Dad. Strength to you, and comfort in the memories of happy times with your father. Sorry for the loss.
I'm so sorry that you lost a loved one ..your Dad! I pray you find peace!
God Bless
Condolences to you Sir......R.I.P DAD.
in this version his voice is so fragile and soft like he is actually really knocking on heavens door. Can't hold back the tears and why on earth should I even want to anyways ?
Hi Joel
Met Mr Dylan in 1974 down in the west village in a little place called the Backfence. Had people play on a tiny stage. I was backing a friend with my trusty blues harp. Dylan was at the bar as we played our last set. We ended our night with this song. Shit, how could we not. After the set Dylan came over and told us he liked the set. How cool is that? He was friendly and supportive. One of the highlights of my life.
Awesome story thanks for sharing
what a fine treasure of a memory to have forever!
oh what a lucky man you were
So magic
Is he's still alive ?
Hands down the best performance of this song in its entire history.
agreed
He hit 0% of every Note 😂
You must have forgot about the Rolling Thunder version: th-cam.com/video/_tUReSz2WEI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=4Ow0dKwjRo1GNRqA
Hate to see the worst.
There will never be another vocal delivery like Bob did that night, for this song. Impossible to match the absolute cool of Dylan. Folks who don't like this version have no idea what Dylan is about. It's not their fault....they just don't know.
Nobel prize, writer, singer, and idol forever. He can sing that song in any way and it still being amazing!!!!!
Hello I really do appreciate you for being a big fan, thank you for your wonderful comments on my post,it really means a lot to me.I sincerely hope you never stop listenin to my music….🥰❤️
Bob Dylan, The most Creative Musical Genius in the last Century or more. I can't fathom how he wrote and sang these songs at 17 with so much vision for the future!!
For Real…
n Free Palestine🍉
You hear and Love this Uncle Clinton Ames Fahlgren. Blow ur harmonica in power.✊🏽BYHIP
There's a certain magic to Bob Dylan. You can feel the story through his voice alone. The way he chooses to accentuate certain words is perfect.

Crazy
My favourite thing about Bob Dylan is how each live performance is slightly different each time. Great musician and songwriter.
Only slightly?
try the deaD

❤
He just cant sing
He wrote the song, he does whatever the hell he wants to with it. And this version is beautiful too.
No

When I first heard this version; I felt like... scared. Bob's voice through the 90's was very, very nasal. Too much for me. But since I started listening to more of his music, I don't feel any bad surprise when I hear the "MTV unplugged". Well... I'm a Dylan fan, after all.
yeah i love this version
You must be on crack if you think this is good. 🤤
I really feel that Knock Knock Knocking On Heavens Door is the most beautiful song he ever did!
I dont understand why people dislike this version . That intro was the best vibe i got from Bob dylan , the way he changed the flow entirely , no effort, and still sounded like a wizard king.
Lots of people don't get Dylan just like lots of people don't get Jesus.
You either get him or you don't, but when you do it's epic.
yeah man, preeach.
This song is so full of passion and damn great band backing him....the whole album was a keeper. Not a bad cut on the whole thing.
Budakan live love it.
Really though. Figured out he’s the man last year. Now I jam out on guitar to his songs.
I really get him and love the emotional trip
It's his song. He can sing it any way he wants to sing it.
Amen.
Duncan jameson
高田光子 well I suppose im one, the man is a genius . Fact. Every one to thier own but .T
Talk Show Host even if that means singing it badly
Moreover they don't know that Bob Dylan changes every song in every concert
My favorite version of this song by him or anyone else. I love the man's voice.
Mine too, 100%, it's the personal imperfections that makes a thing great
His voice was a bit better when he was younger but yes he is great.
Me too fr
No, no, no. It's real good. At this point in his career it was shades of genius
@@stevewilson5402 I agree with you genius love this.✨️👍
Last Friday I was in karaoke bar in south Russia and we were singing that famous song with young officers from a coastal guard academy. Bob Dylan is forever!
Brings a tear to my eye to see Bob having so much fun playing to the crowd still to this day!!! Absolutely amazing and I love the way he did this one live!!! Long live BOB DYLAN!!
drth
I think this young man may have a promising future in music.
Nice try, we know you're trolling.
No shit.
+Catarina d'Orion haha
any doubt?
Lori Hill Bob Dylan has had a promising past that reflects our species failure to live with a sense of humanity and purpose. Protesting the hypo races of our time. This fallen angel has has protested against the rising tide of conformity throughout his career. Dylan was a major influence for the people in America, a voice of consciousness and responsibility towards one another. An artist who had something to say about something important to say. Thanks for the upload.
Absolute legend I'm listening to Dylan since i was a teen Im 60 now and i have a deeper appreciation for his music
Ouço a mais de 50 anos, tenho 63 anos.
The drums are killer in this song. Dylan looks back a couple of times. Great sound
Legendary song. That harmonica feels my heart.
I personally love his voice. He puts
feelings into every word that he sings. That's what it is about. Feeling the songs he writes about.
Hello I really do appreciate you for being a big fan, thank you for your wonderful comments on my post,it really means a lot to me.I sincerely hope you never stop listenin to my music….🥰❤️
@@BobDylan-1 Love you Bob.
@@wendyeschbach7319 lovely do you have google chat
My son puts a lot of emotions and his voice is great. But just as Dylan he can't join two notes to be in tune
I have always loved this song. Dylan is a genius songwriter and performer. This version gets better and better, each time you listen. So much emotion. Brilliant band. Can't wait til next time.
His songs are so masterful and meaningful because of his voice and delivery.
If you don’t get it, go back and listen to your favourite pop radio station.
One of the greatest songs ever written and performed well done Bob Dylan
Happy birthday Bob Dylan 💙 Peace Love and Rock N Roll ❤️
This performance is my favorite rendition of this ageless Dylan song, I get goosebumps EVERY time I hear it👍👍
I heard Bob sing this live
at the top of Stirling Castle Scotland.! 2001,
he was Magic
just... blowing in the Wind
My favorite too.
This man is why I first bought a guitar
Me too... And first song is this song.
Hope u learned how to play this song Now
This is hands down the greatest version of this song. On the verge of tears every time.👌
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here.
I've seen him 5 times and had this dvd
No it’s not
My vote would be for the version by the Australian band Heaven. Incredibly magnificent vocals and guitar solo on that one...
Bob dylan just won nobel prize . First songwriter to receive. He truly is a poet
Rabindranath Tagore was the first one
you can't compare a song to a fucking book of 300 pages I guess
+Jorge Murcia thanks for correcting me.
Tagore did win the Nobel and for poetry mainly for his book of poems,"Gitanjali" and was a song writer.
Just the fact,he released his pieces as books and not as songs and later gave music to them.
Rajeev Ranjan
you are rigth, a BOOK of poems, not a for one song ._.
First song by Bob Dylan I've ever listened to. I'll definitely be back.
I loved this song when I was 16 - still loving it at 66 - Bob you have been there all my life xxx
Hello I really do appreciate you for being a big fan, thank you for your wonderful comments on my post,it really means a lot to me.I sincerely hope you never stop listenin to my music….🥰❤️
If you think this performance sounds weird, consider this: Bob's musical talent has always been in his creativity. He built his legend on songs of his own creation that have been covered more times and by more famous musicians than almost ANY other. Now, consider that he's been made to play this song OVER and OVER for almost half a century. Never mind that he's tortured his vocal chords with cigarettes that whole time; don't you think he's earned the right to be creative with his own song? He's got nothing to prove anymore, it's just him and his songs, his legacy.
Great comment!
DG .Tinderbox and this is why he won the Nobel Prize for Literature
Camron Wafer It was the Nobel Prize in Literature, but yeah. Bob Dylan is great.
elijahpickens thanks for the correction.
DG .Tinderbox
ok an acquired taste, certainly for pagans like me
Y'all need to hush about his singing. This man right here is a legend. Everything withers with age, and its evident that his age has taken quite the toll on his vocals. However, it suits the song rather well. This is not only an amazing song, but an amazing man.
you are so right
+Jade Shaffer ..well said!
Your so right in what you say bless you
I totally agree with you friend
+Gary Smith if you need to hear some classic rock It doesn't get better than bob... He goes at it strong
This illustrates why Dylan sings his own song the BEST !
🏮🚨
Well, it's simple really. Bob Dylan is the ultimate modern poet who has portrayed his gift through music, thus enriching two sections of the arts. But let's bear in mind the fact that there are many who love his songs without realising he is the composer - and there are some great covers. Ultimately, this just bolsters his stature as one of the greatest songwriters of all time!
2:45 the way he sings "feel like im knockin' on heaven's door" make me chill and getting nostalgic for no reason
Always the greatest!! We love you Bob Dylan ✌❤🌻
The unforgettable legend ❤️❤️❤️
And he gets a Nobel prize in literature 2016 for this amazing piece of work!!
What literature he wrote? Very funny.........
poetry and song lyrics are literature as well you moron....
da fuck???
Bob's a writer. There's no doubt of that.

It was so hard to find this song sung by Dylan ._. Well, it was worth it.
+Oskari “ikaros02” Lahtinen I know! people friggin false advertising right and left. ugh. thankfully we know this is him
salut
SOUNDED BETTER IN THE MOVIE. OF COURSE Dylan WASNT STONED OUT OF HIS FUCKING MIND AS USUALY THEN.
Frank Welch What movie?

I’m 75 and have been a huge since I was 15..loved every minute of it!
Another more than outstanding version of Bob's masterpiece.
to all you ignorant ranters , dylan is dylan is dylan ..........he can sing it anyway he likes , he wrote it
+Les Hankin Amen to that Les
+Les Hankin Yes!
Thank you. I was just going to say the same thing.
good for you Mega
all this time I thought Eric wrote that, then discovered it went farther back...but didn't remember Dylan singing it. Go Bob!!!!
This song will be played on Bob Dylan's funeral
Best song ever written!
One of the best song of all time!
Bob Dylan's the man, fuck all the hateful comments regarding his voice.
well said friend
So you think this is "good"? Really? What's good about it? It's HORRIBLE.
Ima SuperPerson It's fucking raw and heartfelt, he's got fucking soul and it shows. Sure, he's not singing like a fucking opera singer, or these shitty generic pop artists of today, but the man is having a good time and his voice is raw and everything else I put up further in the comment. It's good dude. What makes it so bad? Damn.
Evan Middlekauff
- He sang fine in the early part of his career. He burned out early - well known - and frankly, just didn't give a shit how he sang thereafter. And over time, it just got worse. He can sing - he just doesn't try. If you think that's a good thing, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. I find it impossible to listen to.
I totally agree with you friend
I can see why GUNS 'N' ROSES wanted to cover this song, it's one of the most powerful songs, from a lyrical point of view
Hello how are you doing
Love the additional verse, " mama wipe the blood from my face, " genius.
He is a legendary artist, NO talk
Someday we will each be knocking on heaven's door but I will remember Bob Dylan awoke my soul when I was lost and asleep.
*hahahahaha*
Happy Birthday to Bob, a legend of our time!
Thank You, pal.
What many people don’t get is he never claimed to be a good singer, he was a poet
Absolutely LOVE this unplugged version, and this whole Unplugged Album... Masterful!
Don't you just love it when the drummer swings his arms around like he's really doing something special?
My favorite song of all times! Obviusly just the performed by Bob Dylan, it is HIS SONG!
When I was a kid in the 60s. I didn't understand all the hype around Bob Dylan. As I've listened to him through the years I totally understand all the hype that surrounds this man. He is second to none
People play their whole life, and they never reach Dylan's level. A true music man through and through.
"I thought Bob Dylan was really brave to get onstage and sing off key like that, then I listened to the words and I got it." Jimi Hendrix.
I'd have been really surprised
If he hadn't sang that Unplugged and intune lol
@@rmpaine finally a comment that makes sense. Right on!
I'm sick of people critiquing Dylan's voice. I've been hearing that bs for over 50 yrs. Enough already.
@warren3427 Did you mean, L. Cohen? Haha
@@sashagamino2268 it gives him charm as an artist in my opinion

Bob, your iconic existence has influenced hearts and stones for decades. 1972-present, you connect me with my Uncle Clint, your loyal follower. Thank you 🙏🏽
This man was ahead of his time.
Love this video. The sound of his music makes you want to rock to the beat anytime of day or night.
Bob Dylan has a prefect ear for music that’s the reason why, he’s a music genius.
Love the music man. 💋💘✌
God Bless Bob!
Sing it Bob! 🕊️
Those that complain about his voice or inflection or whatever. At least he made it through to us. A lot of Artists would've died leading the life he led. A lot did die. You think Jim Morrison would still be able to fit into his snakeskin pants if he was 54, as Bob was here? Bobs voice has aged perfectly. Anyway, he has sat with Kings and Princes and Presidents. And Muddy Waters and Earl Scruggs and Johnny Cash. Elvis recorded one of his songs. So did the Bee Gees. And the Staples Singers. And millions of others. And he has been the most beneficent Songwriter of our Age.
Bought this on DVD years ago. The band are phenomenal all the way through this concert, Bob too!
The world goes round as long as you’er around Bob. 🫡
Genius, real man, wish I could say I met him but I do everyday in his music
Hello Mary how are you doing today dear I hope all is well with you and your family? Have a nice day. I have bee happy 😃all day because of this song 🎵 just keep remaining me of my dad

I love this voice. It expresses my generation perfectly.
I love you Bob, you were always the truth giver, thank you.
😊😊I'm very pls to know I'm not the only one that loves😍 🥰the song but when last did you play it
So privileged to see the poet who influenced my parents generation and left a thumbprint on my 💜 A voice of many people who cried out for changes in our world, government and leadership 👍 AN INDIVIDUAL who was embracing our individuality with a common cause... Standing outside of the glitter and spotlights of society to bring a message🎉
How many classics has this guy produced.
With Dylan it's always been about his lyrics, his harp, guitar and cool. He was in a motorcycle accident in his younger years and it had an effect on his vocal cords...Not that it has diminished his talent. He's my favorite and has been consistently great for years. I've Loved
Bob Dylan for years. Stay cool RJ
Watched this performance countless times. One person in Dylans´ company lookes like, the lyrics and obviusly Dylans´way of singing and living this song, seems to bring him in a higher state off being. Someone else could probebly find beter words for it than me.. I´m refering to rhe drummer, i just can´t get enough of seeing him get part of the song. These people living there music......Amen
HE'S an icon. EVEN my son bought me a t-shirt off Dylan. ❤ ❤
