    I just downloaded this route after purchasing a yearly subscription but have not driven it yet. Having this route included was part of my motivation for getting Trainz 2022 as it is a favorite route of mine to travel. I rode the Ski Train to Winter Park from Denver when the Denver Rio Grande Western Railroad ran it.

      I hope the route doesn't disappoint. I enjoyed driving it but I'm not sure it could live up to real life. The only bit I thought was excessive was the long tunnel near the park. I think you drive through it for over 5mins although it feels allot longer. Other than that a very scenic journey

      Robert, I have a question. I just bought a yearly subscription and downloaded Trainz 22. I cannot for the life of me find this route. I'll find sessions and descriptions, but the game won't allow me to play them. Did you have this problem?

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Someone else reported not having access to this route also. I still do. The route name is "West From Denver" and this is one of the sessions. The only advice I can is on the opening small window click on the content store, click on the purchased tab and maybe it will give you an option to re-install the route. The worst case scenario is to re-install the program but hopefully you won't need to do that. You should also ask on the Trainz forum as others may have had this issue and they maybe able to provide a better answer.

    Denver is missing a few roads between union Station and UP north yard and also less tracks, too. Pretty cool overall

    They really need to up their game in terms of graphics 😒 I purchased tz19 and ended up refunding it in disappointment. Graphics were terrible, lack of content and only few routes.. if this is the same ill stick to train sim world 2 as I just got it yesterday.

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think if you're only wanting to drive trains then TSW2 is far better for you. Because it has no route editor means that the graphics and gameplay can be far more optimised than Trainz. For me I prefer Trainz because it has the route editor as that's my enjoyment. The driving on Trainz is fairly bad and apart from doing the odd vid I don't really use that part of the game. The graphics when you take into consideration the route editor are fine. Not the best but fine. There're things they could do to optimise the game further to improve the FPS such as removing backward compatibility but I think that's unlikely. 22 and 19 are basically the same (so far) so if you don't like 19 then you'll likely not like 22. If you're looking for a cheap train sim take a look at Diesel Railcar simulator. The graphics aren't top notch but the gameplay is, plus it's only £15.

    I have to admit that routes built taking advantage of the newest TZ techniques can look pretty darn good. I bought the new VR Healesville 1913-1920 route at half price during a recent Steam Sale. Its landscape / scenery is a pleasure to drive through, understated though it is. Night and day improvement over old Healesville. My main gripe with Trainz / TSW / and even TS2022 is not so much graphics quality, though that can be an issue with older and/or poorly landscaped routes, but a total lack of large British pre-grouping era routes.

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The UK is a tiny market. I very much doubt it's a priority for any of them at all. Even the new UK route for 22 isn't made by N3V, it's a user made route which has been adapted. The creator contacted me and the route is actually allot larger and is available on the DLS and is called "Cornish Railways". There seems to be a 19 and 22 version.

    • @graemegillett6437
      @graemegillett6437 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      N3V supply the simulator and the community provides the content, be that pay or freeware. Surveyor is there so you can build your own route or just pick one from the DLS and modify it to suit your needs. Having built some rather large popular Australian routes, I found as a creator, you need some "investment" in the route or it will never get finished. It's not just a matter of let's build a large pre grouping route.

    Dude, seriously, buy an SSD for Trainz. Your videos will be all the better for it.

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      An SSD wouldn't make any difference to the FPS but an NVME type of SSD might for the stuttering. I already have a SATA SSD and tried an install a while back on it and it made zero difference over a hard drive. I do have a new NVME SSD on order so as long as it installs and works fine I have an idea for a vid. Side by side showing differences if any. If there are diffferences... great and if not at least Forza will perfom better

      Not tested. There have been options in the config menu to use controllers since Tane but they haven't worked. I did read a note on their site saying they are adding the feature in to 22 finally but I can't say if it works or how well. Best to check their forums

      It'll be listed with the other routes but won't be downloaded. The route is called "West from Denver". The route screenshot has no snow strangely. There are 3 sessions inside each with snow.

      Good to hear. Forgot about the download box. It can be reached on any page in the game. Click the (little person) profile button top right and the link is there.
      I think I know why you might not have seems it before. On the routes list page there are source filters. Mine defaults to purchased and shows everything whether it's installed or not. Thought that was the default... maybe not. Yours might have only been showing installed.

      I might be wrong but I don't think there's any new rolling stock at all. To check this I opened content manager, set a min build version to 5.0 (which I'm fairly sure is Trainz 22 as 4.9 was the last update for Trainz 19) and hardly any assets come up. No rolling stock at all comes up.
      A quick addition...
      Build versions can be found here:
      online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/%22trainz-build%22_number
      Looking at 4.9 there are some assets that say they're for Trainz22 but there still isn't any rolling stock.

      I don't have a Gold membership but this route is meant to be part of purchase of the base game. I would suspect that the Gold available routes are on rotation but this route as it's part of the base game should always be available with a gold membership. I would advise to ask on the Trainz forum to find out to be certain to see if others have had the issue. I haven't had time to load the game for a while. I've actually been waiting for the final release before I do a new build series and have been doing other things. I will be doing a vid running it in the SteamDeck next week so I'll add a comment are recording it if it's also not available for me.

    I realize this is a beta version but I am having a problem with the install of this route. It’s only this route - the three others are fine. I get an error box that says simc:733 and dependencies are missing. The freight session is not affected so I suspect the Amtrak assets may be part of the problem. All I see is a fuzzy loco shape on a totally white background. Reinstalling on a different drive didn’t solve the problem. Any suggestions?
    Also, I am having problems accessing the forums where I could post this so I feel guilty burdening you. Any help there?

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Below the route before you open it are any error messages? Is there a red or orange circle below it?

    • @cecilb48
      @cecilb48 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No error message on loading but there is an orange circle that indicates missing dependencies. Now at this point I need to say that I just play the sessions, no content creation or session editing in my skill set so I may be in over my head with my next comment.
      I know how to load content manager and use it in a primitive way. The problem seems to be with the Amtrak Superliner 1 baggage/coach and the Superliner 2 coach. Kuid 565249:100506 appears to be missing. I tried to download it but it wasn’t found on Download Station. What do I do now? Thanks for all your help.

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The first thing I would advise to do is open a support ticket advising whats happened ask for support. It take a few days for them to answer so is worth doing straight away.
      Looking at the asset ID 565249:100506 its for a asset called "Prod Passengers 2019" and states its a built in asset meaning it should have been downloaded when you downloaded the game.
      Searching for a "Amtrak Superliner" a number of things come up. They are all called as "packaged" meaning they're likely only downloadable when downloading the route.
      Heres the KUIDs for them
      kuid2:565249:100992:1 Amtrak Superliner I Coach Baggage
      kuid2:565249:100993:1 Amtrak Superliner II Coach
      I don't think the game will let you but it doesn't hurt to try and download these. In content manager use the custom filter and then do a kuid search. So... leave the main search box top right blank but use the filters on the left and select "Asset kuid". Now in the box next to it enter kuid2:565249:100992:1 in. Hopefully it will come up and maybe it will let you download it.

      They try their very best to discourage you opening a ticket by putting you through a a knowledgebase first.
      Login, click the red troubleshooter button, and choose an option at the bottom of the page. Most do not allow you to open a ticket.
      Try... General other -> How do i contact helpdesk -> submit support ticket
      It should let you

  • @christopherfilson731
    @christopherfilson731 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    As someone who lives on the suburban part of this route and railfans its entirety up to the tunnel, the wayside realism is absolute crap. I was tempted to get this game since it’s “my” route and this video shows how poor it looks.
    N3V really needs to step it up considering what has been done with MSFS.

    • @bluewizard
      @bluewizard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It should be possible to get the track plan 100% correct including grades. Trainz has enough tools to do that but the buildings and scenery are a different matter. Each route would need their own set of bespoke assets and I'm not sure that's something they would want to do. I suspect they are trying to make it look similar using as few new assets as possible. I made this video back at Xmas. I remember checking and there were very few new assets listed.
      I'm not really a fan of these long real routes. I can see the appeal but they've never done it for me. A bespoke shorter route that's designed to make you think is far more my thing but Trainz has bigger issues than that. About half way through filming this the game crashed. There was no way I was starting again so I reloaded the game, placed the session into edit mode and moved the train to the location it was when the game crashed. I placed it back into play mode and carried on. At the end I still got to marks. This is due to the very basic way the game scores. I could go on about how is not optimised and how it doesn't basically run (it runs just badly) on my SteamDeck where as Train Sim World 1/2 does.
      The heart of Trainz is a good game but it tries to be too many things for too many people and in the end make it hard to excel at any of its features.
