I truly love you channel, I lost my daughter my only child a year and a half ago. She blessed me with two grand daughters. I want them to know how to take care of their families. The spring is hard for me because my daughter loved it. Thank you, you have truly helped me get through the hardest time of my life
I’m so sorry for your loss of your beloved daughter. I’m glad that I could help to be a light in some of your darkest hours. I pray for healing for you and your family💙. Squeeze those granddaughters extra tight!
I made the tortillas today and they turned out perfect. I rolled them on the mat and my husband said it’s the best he’s ever had. I told him I use all your recipes and he said stick with that lady is the master. Every single one was perfect
I love your channel! I made your recipe for fresh milled wheat and it is my absolute favorite! I have tried MANY recipes and honestly, I always end up with dry and almost crumbly bread. But not with your recipe! It is my and my husband’s favorite bread. Thank you so much for sharing your recipes. Looking forward to trying this one.
This is possibly the best tutorial I've seen for those who haven't made tortillas before! very nice. I just made a white whole wheat batch with your formula and they are great. Thank You Bell
I made your tortillas today and they came out perfect. I used the same press you use and the same grill that sue Becker uses. Thank you so much for such an easy recipe to follow !
I wanted to let you know I made these with the electric press, 65 grams butter, after I pressed I separated with wax paper & froze. Defrosted some yesterday & they puffed up beautifully! I am going to make more to have in the freezer! Thank you so much!
I’m so glad you talked about the tortillas contracting when using the regular press, I had wondered if the electric one solved that problem! Since my press is cast iron I might try putting it on the stove 😂
Yes! You can absolutely put your cast iron press on the stove. Just keep your oven mits on! Here’s a video for cast iron press th-cam.com/video/d8QHEipiJ7M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9URxKMm3xybcl4EP
I made these today, used a tortilla press for the first time. Indeed, made tortillas for first time. I did ok. I thought the taste was a little bland. And my tortillas are a little crispy around the edges, not all but some. Might add a few grams more salt and turn the heat down a notch from medium next time. Now I just remembered we’re having dinner out tonight! Hope these keep well.
Hi Pam! Certainly add more salt to your liking. How long did they take to cook? If your heat is right, it should take about 30 seconds on each side. If it takes longer than that it will make the tortillas stiff or crispy. Also, a game changer is transferring them into a “tortilla warmer” right after cooking. I use a large bowl lined with a light cloth. This keeps them warm and traps in the moisture.
The hard white is a hands down winner in my book 🙌🏿. Soft white didn’t work well for burritos because the tortillas broke so easily. Hard red is a close second but they’re a bit more dry. Which could probably be fixed with just adding more water in the dough. But, I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
I made this recipe tonight and they were delicious! I do think adding a bit more salt might suit our taste better. Also, I missed the 50 grams tip on the video and used 65 grams and they were a little too thick and didn’t puff up like the video showed, but well worth the effort. Thanks so much! PS…your printable recipe doesn’t have the baking powder on it. ❤
Hi! Thank you for your feedback! I did intentionally remove the baking powder because I notice no difference with the baking powder. I’ve stopped using it so I updated the recipe. Just so no one gets confused, I may list it as optional. Again, thank you for your feedback. Have a blessed day!
I found you through a Facebook group and I'm so glad I did! I got a grain mill and it's overwhelming to relearn how to work with flour, to say the least 😁
Yes, when you mill, always be sure to empty that and use it. I use a pastry brush to make sure I get all the flour out of the bowl, lid and filter cup.
Absolutely! You can freeze the flattened dough sheets and they cook wonderfully from frozen. Just be sure to separate them with parchment or wax paper.
I made these & the electric press saved so much time! They were delicious! Today I am going to double the batch to freeze & give some to my adult children 😀 thank you! God Bless you & your family❤️
Just found you. Do you have a tutorial on how to cook them fully in the tortilla press/cooker. I just bought one and i tried another recipe yesterday but none of mine bubbled up.
@@esteehammer1248 great question! Sorry I wasn’t clear. You leave the top open and use it the same way you would a skillet. With the top down, I find they get more crispy.
I have frozen them before cooking them. They freeze very well. They cook from frozen great as well. I haven’t frozen them after cooking. But I have refrigerated them after cooking and they soften up nicely after being reheated in a pan or microwave.
@@Lovelybellbakes awesome! Thanks you so much for commenting! So you roll them out and then freeze them (like with parchment paper between them)? Or freeze the balls?
@@princesskassandra4253 I press them out on the electric press and then freeze separated with parchment paper. It is rare that I freeze to because they do last for a very long time in the fridge after you press them out.
Absolutely. It works great. You can let them come to room temp or you can press them cold. Just increase the heat a little closer to the max setting on the tortilla press.

I’m so glad you’re hear! Hopefully my channel can help to alleviate the intimidation of working with fresh milled flour.
You cann run the dough through setting 1 on pasta maker and fry or bake for chips
Have you tried that? I think this dough would be too sticky for that.
The tortilla maker says currently unavailable. Love your recipes!
I fixed it! Thank you for letting me know!
New subscriber, thrilled to have found your channel. ❣️
Thank you!
This may be a dumb question, but do you include the flour that goes into the little filter cup thing inside the nutrimill? Thank you!

I was using 1 teaspoon but I’ve found that it makes no difference and they come out identical without the baking powder.

Can i use regular flour instead of the milled wheat?
Yes. Reduce the water to 1 cup or 244g

Have you ever refrigerated the dough balls overnight and pressed and cooked the next day?
Absolutely. It works great. You can let them come to room temp or you can press them cold. Just increase the heat a little closer to the max setting on the tortilla press.
Nice. I've tried very similar with oil or butter. They come out nice at first but then crack after they cool. Ugh!
Keep them in a towel or tortilla warmer to keep them warm and soft.
How do you store them?
Usually in my childrens tummies 😂 But when there’s leftovers I put them in a ziploc in the fridge for up to a week.
lol thanks.
