Seeing the slide from side to side reminded me of the train on ice scene from the polar express, that would be super cool to see recreated in Minecraft!
I don't know if you are aware of this yet or not, but when you right click the tracks and open up the track menu, the "Position" setting allows you to place the tracks in a much more precise way with the "Pixels" placement setting. It helps with making turns and lining up curves when the normal grid based placement doesn't seem to line up properly.
When i saw the thumbnail i thought " he's definitely gonna put eurobeat over it" then the first few seconds, bam eurobeat. I knew it. This made he vid already worth watching.
That side to side motion was super smooth, and I’m also really surprised by how smooth it looked even with the transrapid until it started glitching out
With this being a small little train mod for minecraft, HOW DOES IT HAVE SO MUCH? Like I'm genuinely so surprised that the front and back of the train are handled separately to make this possible, they could've just ignored the fact that some trains have 2 swiveling sets of wheels and just made trains follow the track in a perfectly straight line, but they didn't, and it has allowed us to do this absolute insanity.
For those who are perhaps wondering if this will work in real life, allow me to explain. In RL a train has weight (it isn't magnetized on the rails) and the combination of speed and angle would sooner cause the train to tilt and fall then perform a drift. Not to say that maybe, with just the right kind of train and just the right kind of track, that this is feasible. But don't expect someone to have the guts to try!
You should add some Deja Vu music over the parts where trains are drifting but its cool. I love this messing up with trains! Keep it up the awesome work!
You know what you need now? A track for each link - i/e/ the front bogie of the train is on it's own track. The rear bogie of the train and the front of the first carriage are on their own track. The rear bogie of the first carriage and the front bogie of the second carriage share a track as well. And so on
Amazing. Also with the challenger, I managed to tear off one of the bogies on a big boy randomly when I left it. It didnt move, but other stuff worked on it!
I think that this could be some cool merch with the figure 8 with the maglev or just the diesel going around it and there could be text saying “drift track” or something!

If you went high speed and did this drift like action you'll catch the rail and scrape until it slips and starts barrel rolling so that's why you dont see trains doing this it's because it will catch the rail and derail and barrel roll so if you want to see it go to a physics engine or minecraft mod to add trains like thid

The turn off part of the switch is also a custom curve, just fyi for making building switches easier

At some point the "physics" glitches out and it sort of derails once it can't track the bogies in a "sane" fashion anymore

If there is long freight you can drift freight or model trains
when you tried the cross over the first time you didin't link the two curves together. maybe that's why it failed?
