I just got the 4a a couple days ago and while following this video I stumbled on something I've wanted for a long time and wondered why it wasn't on by default. There is a way to get your home screen to rotate to landscape mode! Touch anywhere on the home screen away from icons. Pick Home Settings from the flyout menu. Pick Allow Home Screen Rotation.
First video I've watched that actually gave me a few good features I've never knew about. Good stuff I've had every version of the pixel now I'm on the 4A 5G

I recently discovered another feature. As you have a 'Now Playing' feature to detect songs near you, if you want to know about a song playing in the background of a video on the phone, just switch on the 'Live Captions' and let it detect. It may take some time to detect but the accuracy is mind blowing. I've only tried English songs though and not the regional ones. Just let me know if anyone has tried it too.

I live in a rural area and so generally need no intermediate security lock (I just want to pick up and dial -- besides, my hands are likely gloved or very dirty; different than when traveling or out shopping). Likewise, MUST I have WiFi and or Data turned on with the Pixel 4A? My current phone is fine without those connections for phone calls and "SMS" text.
Data should always be turned on that's what allows calls and text and LTE internet. Wifi is for only when your connecting your internet to another place like home or work so you can save data and just use wifi. But always keep data on even when using wifi

@@CButler I don't get what do you mean by "data must always be turned on". You mean you must not be on airplane mode, or you must always activate the "two arrows in opposite directions" button? You don't need the button always on, it empties the battery and your internet if you have limited MB in your contract. Also people can call you and you can call them if the button is off. So what do you mean?
@@janny.p I have had the phone for 3 months now, and can truly say I'm happy as a clam. The data can most definitely be turned OFF (all the time if you choose), and attaching photos or whatever to text messages tuns on data only briefly and automatically when sending media messages. I love only the needing data for a few occasional website views, etc. and rarely ever need WiFi for anything. OHmyGosh - I use this as a PHONE and TEXT device 99 percent of the time - Wow - who does that!? Ha -- the icing on the cake is you easily get 4 to even 6 DAYS on a charge. Having had Samsung flagships in the past, the Pixel 4A is a fantastic bargain.
I would have found this more helpful if you called out each screen and option instead of some of them. Example: you cannot go to settings and see the emergency screen. I had to stop the video and see approximately where you were in settings and then guess until I found it. Tips were good; explanations not so much.
Finally, someone showing 4a customizations, not just standard Android hints!

Yeah it picks up foreign songs too, I think its picked up some Chinese songs for me! And maybe Korean and Japanese, but def Chinese

The mobile Data button , keep it on if you want internet and calls and text to come through
