This is much more than a Greenhouse. It's really more of an Edwardian Conservatory, I imagine it filled with elegant wicker and a few overstuffed English chairs, potted fruit trees and some choice statuary. What a great place to take Tea and Scones!

I used to play the game Clue when I was a child and, being a dusty little Southwesterner, and not a member of the English landed classes, would wonder what a "Conservatory" was, and why one would have one. Not anymore! Look at you, you've built a Conservatory. So beautiful.

This. This is why I will forever watch Garden Answer. The look of sheer joy on Laura's face while touching her very own Hartley. No pretense. No boasting. All of us will shake our heads when we remember this past year, but Laura will brighten up thinking it’s the “year of the Hartley”. Actually, watching it happen for you has cheered me up too.
Here in the Midwest, people often plant dill and parsley to act as host plants for swallowtail butterfly caterpillars. I'm not sure what species/host plants would work out in your area, but I'm sure Benjamin would love to see them getting "growed up" into butterflies along side all the beautiful plants. The Hartley is looking gorgeous with it's bricks, can't wait to see it all complete, with a floor and beautiful plants and cozy furnishings.

I got teary at the end when Laura was touching the Hartley & talking about how it still doesn't feel real. It's so well deserved! I've watched over the years hearing about what a dream it was of her's (mine too let's be real), but it's so awesome to see an amazing dream come true for an amazing family. I can see a small tree giving off the best dappled sunlight. And the butterfly garden...oh my...what a success. I loved watching Benjamin actually put the plant in the ground with you quietly helping. How could your kids NOT love gardening? As viewers we not only learn a few things (like, every day!) but to see the love you all have for each other is so refreshing! I agree with so many of your subscribers....by far, the best part of my day!
When the Hartley is all done I think you should go live and we can have a virtual christening! Invite your parents of course and we can all have a cocktail together ;) You guys have a million people that have been on this journey with you and what a lovely way it would be to celebrate!!!!

I can't help but wonder how you have garnered the support to have a life like this.
I have never had anyone that feels my desire for beautiful surroundings is even reasonable, so I have to do everything myself . At 60 yrs old still no supportive others .
My family doesn't understand my ambition but they love to drink too much lol !
So anyway thanks for sharing your world , now I know what I would have if I had a supportive spouse and family.
Just an fyi. I have 6 airbnb properties and just bought 12 acres.
I will put in a butterfly garden and just installed a lovely fountain and pergola and cut down 160 yards of carragana hedge, and resurfaced my swimming pool. Just wish I had company to give it all more meaning !

It occurred to me watching this video how easy it is now to follow along with your garden tours after watching your videos faithfully. I can more often than not pick out the flower you are talking about even before the camera zooms in.

The Hartley will provide you with a great space to host many, many special occasions and celebrations with your family and friends throughout the course of your life, as well as a great place to hangout on any given day. It’s beautiful empty, so imagine how incredible it is going to look when it’s ready for its debut!! It’s all so exciting!! I think that sometimes the most simple of plantings can be the most beautiful. The plantings in the round flower bed in the middle of your brick patio is my favorite of all you have done.

Maybe the person who showed your white doors in black can work his/her magic with the Hartley and the slate tile around the front? Seeing stuff is easier for me to decide what I would like. Frankly, I thought the black doors wouldn't look good until I saw that image with the black doors. Amazing.

Right? I planted some sunflowers imagining having some of the beauty Laura has...while they are pretty, and getting ready to bloom, they are spindly lil things. I make sure to ooh and aah at them every day thinking that's all that's missing :)
