Hello Ray. My Sealine 50 finally failed on me on my 2 day trip. It handled the 25-40# bft and big ass yellows but did the round and round the boat thing then the reel locked up and the the line went bang. Yea I know it’s a 1990 reel but I don’t want to spend money on it. Instead I’m looking for a good 30# 2023 star drag reel lol. How do you like it so far?
Almost 6 years later, and my trinidad 20a is still one of my most used reels in my arsenal. Great, yoyo reel and surface iron reel. Tons of power and smooth drag. Freespools really well for fly line fishing and handles bluefin up to 60 lbs pretty damn comfortably! Can definitely kill much bigger fish on it if fought properly, but comfortable for up to 60+ lbs.
@@Blueskies-h3e nice man! A good tip I was told when I bought this reel “you buy once, cry once”. So it might hurt the wallet, one time but you’re definitely getting what you pay for. Ever since my buddy told me that, I’ve kinda lived off of that saying for fishing
Sung Lee hell yeah! I almost got the saltiga. But I ended up getting my Trinidad. My buddy fishes both and he prefers this. Lol I’m still learning so I just went with what he likes
Dirty Hookers, They're both solid performers. Can't go wrong with either choice. My next will be a Trinidad because like women I like blondes and brunettes.
Sung Lee lol there you go. Yeah I still want the saltiga. I might try to swap out one of my turners rods and build a 9 ft surface rod with a saltiga. I got a set up in mind that looks bitchen in my head. Never know till it’s put together lol
gaawLEE ready for some BIG fricken hookups! I would have one of those reels by now if they made them in lefty. IDK why but right handed is super awkward to me and I do believe I once was used to it.
They make them with a cork handle, mine was wrapped over with tuna cord. Other than that, something with a reel seat, you’d probably have to get a blank and have it custom built

just got a trinidad 16 gonna put it on a cousins f90j deckhand style rod..where did you get your universal clamp kit..my local tackle shop sells them for 50 bucks but i was wondering if you know where i can get it a little cheaper
Anthony Sanchez the reel is amazing. Casts really well. I’ve put the set up against some big bonito. But I haven’t hooked into a yellowtail on it yet. Hopefully this year I’ll get one on it

Akram Ali I’ve never used a torium before. Supposed to be comparable to the Trinidad just with a plastic housing and less corrosion resistant internals
Dirty Hookers i recently got a torium 16h is it a good reel..if not i would be getting a new one ...i use it with shimano speed master cought 3ft cobia and gts And still im planing to get a daiwa lexa 300 or 400 what do u think
Akram Ali I mean if you’ve caught cobia and gts on it then I’d say it’s a good reel haha. Those are both some hard fighting fish! And as for a lexa, what do you plan to be targeting with it?
Dean Roy I can’t tell if your trying to be funny. It’s literally the reel that all of the captains out of San Diego use for their surface iron rods. I threw my buddy’s on our last trip and it was the smoothest reel I’ve ever casted before
Dean Roy ah I see. I think the talica is a lever drag if I’m not mistaken. Lever drags aren’t great reals for casting. Live baits and everything else is amazing with lever drags. But casting isn’t one of them
Follow up review? Was it worth the investment. Compare to a torium? Is tje extra $ worth it?

To my knowledge, just the tensioning knob for spool speed on the side.

When u click your free spool lever into gear and turn ur handle did ur handle ever engage after the initial click?
It engages when I put the freespool lever back into gear. Never had any issues with the free spool

romey7100 I had to call 5 different tackle shops to find it. You can get away with just the universal clamp kit. A lot of people do it that way
