    I really enjoy learning and watching your videos. We got 1968 scotty hi-lander last month. it won't go in the garage. I hope I take the tires out it will fit. so we can fix it up during the winter months.

    Thank you for going into detail like this. I have no rebuilding experience at all. Bought a 60s Scotty in bad shape. Just going to learn and do as I go. Will watch your videos!

    Currently trying to get the floor out. I remember you saying there's anout 12 carriage bolts holding on the floor to the frame. I've located the 8 on the outside. Roughly where are the others located?

      I have not had to do that yet. Our local tire shop will do it pretty cheap though.

    Hi Rob, thanks for the videos! My 23 year old granddaughter bought a '67 Scotty Gaucho with visions of a coffee trailer, and I'm the poor girl's helper! We've been watching the videos to try and get familiar with them before we start. It's in pretty good shape, but we expect a few rough spots. Was the frame in this video used in the '67 Gauchos?

      Yes. They should all be pretty close in 1967.

    Hi Rob, what's the going rate for a new axle? I suspect mine is bent as the left tire and spare have the same uneven wear pattern.im getting ready to dive into my $150 field find. Thanks Troy

      The best thing is check at your local trailer supply and take your axle with you for them to measure. Good luck on your build.

    Hello Rob!
    Do you have any info on the size of tires/rims on the ‘67 Scotty Gaucho?
    Thanks in advance!

      The bolt pattern is 4.5 on 5. Tires are 205/75R15 trailer rated. I used these on Karens Gaucho and the fit great.

    I am really enjoying your video's. I will start my own frame up rebuild on a 58' Oasis and needed to know where to even start. Your videos have helped me figure that out. I was wondering how you can tell if the frame is too far gone? I believe mine looks fairly similar to yours as far as condition but I will have to get a little more detailed on my next inspection but if you can give me any further advice on what to look for that would be great. I already know that the weld is important but it would be great to see what a poor weld versus a good weld would look like. One other thing is what do you want to look for as far as having leaf springs instead of your torsion axle. Thanks for all your knowledge!!!!!

    • @RobTheRebuilder
      @RobTheRebuilder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching. Torsion axles were standard on the early Scottys and work great. Leaf springs are standard on many trailers and work great as well. When replacing it is personal preference what to replace it with. I usually go back with what was originally on the trailer. I always make sure the frame is level and square. Once you do that you have a better chance of your build being level and square. If there is any rust through you will need to get that repaired. Take a flashlight and go over every weld and bend and look for cracks to repair. Good luck on your build!

    do I need to buy a new axel if its just going to be in one spot as a coffee trailer?

      If your bearings and spindle look good and you're greased up, you should be good to go.

      Depends on the rim. I see a lot of 205 75 R15 but could be a 14
