I'm nothing if not determined!! Too much so at times. Glad you're getting stuck into and enjoying the videos. We've had a load of water where I am so hopefully will be a few more fish to chase. Tight lines if you get out yourself.
That was a hard won fish, caught by some very good angling. You knew there was a deep channel near your bank, so I could see you moved the rod tip to ensure the fly swung right into the bank, and you held it there. Well done. Also a tricky place to net a fish, while wading in a strong current. You seem to have learned a lot in quite a short time.👏
Your gallows downbeaten humour makes it real i love your videos. Im planning a trip up your part of the country next season for my first salmon fishing ever. Your videos have been a huge help.
Well done Rob,your perseverance paid off. Try not to beat yourself up if you don't get a fish for a while. Last season was a terrible year. I'm from Ireland and some of the rivers were down 70,80% on previous years. The fish are being wiped out at sea,and in our estuaries. Tight lines man,.
I don't take losing a fish very well do I? 🤣 Here's hoping for more fortune in 2024. It is criminal to think how many must be getting hoovered up at sea. On my coastline we have no nets at all for the first time ever so you'd think we'd be in for bumper times but I doubt many fish make it back from Greenland without ending up in the hull of a supertrawler.
Brilliant. We've waited all season for your fancy reel to scream to a big fish. She was a beautiful fish. (I've had nothing like that!) Not jealous at all though. Really pleased for you with that one. Well done!
Frikin brilliant Rob. Brilliant angling. Right time, changed beats, swinging right to bank, keeping the faith after losing one (always worth fishing it again ( sometimes worth taking a few steps back upstream and checking fly, wait a minute then go again) That time of year they’re starting to get closer to each other and territorial for a mate. Awesome dude. Your best video ever ! Just shows what can be done now you’re experienced. Top tip to increase hook up rate - get a hook sharpener (lune ones good) and keep them hooks razor sharp it really helps. Even with new hooks. You’ll be surprised. Makes a difference as their mouths start hardening up. Tight lines for the new season buddy. Might bump into you up there on the T.
Many thanks, good tip on the hook sharpener. I will pick one up. I might have had a half decent season if I'd been using good hooks from the start of the year. It's all a learning curve though and hopefully this year I will be ready to hit the ground running. I'm getting less clueless with every day on the river.
Well fished, sir ! As a course angler who has rarely fly fished, I appreciate the skill and perseverance required to catch an increasingly rare species which has more or less stopped eating by the time it reaches the river and doing so using a hook without actual bait on it. My fishing is so much easier in comparison but perhaps less rewarding because of that.
Many thanks I'm sure there is plenty of skill to course fishing. Maybe if you guys only got a fish about every 6 sessions then you might find it more rewarding too!! ( Either that or give up like a sensible person would do).
Yeah I reckon I am - but I think I will buy a bigger net (positive thoughts etc) Good luck for your season, no doubt we'll bump into each other again at some point @@abakerslife
What rod an reel is that if you don't mind me asking, looking to get back into my salmon fishing this season but sold ma gear years ago like a kno* lol
I use a Hardy Ultralite 13'6 8/9 with a Hardy cascapedia reel. Shakespeare Oracle rods are great too and much more pocket friendly. I have the 13' #9 scandi which is a lovely rod for the money.
Beautiful fish. Your line shoots out perfect in them tight spots.. well done to the end of the season… she’s a beauty
Many thanks, not always it doesn't but I will take the compliment cheers 👍
Fantastic..... lovely, congratulations...hooked right in at your bank!! Well done. Love your persistence! Thanks

@@abakerslife Yes plenty of water up here - I need to get out and cast a line soon !!!

Yeah thanks I guess obsession is a great way to stimulate improment 😆
Brilliant Rob , your casting has come on leaps and bounds 👍👍👍
One of the highlights of Robs videos is seeing his casting. He makes it look easy. Im learning so much here.
Thanks but I'm still well capable of the odd disastrous day
Oh bloody hell, don't watch my videos if you want to learn anything. That's just asking to pick up bad habits!
Well done sir your hard work paid of and quite a clean fish for time of year
Many thanks it was a hard earned victory.

Glad you're enjoying them. You could do a lot worse than coming up here to God's country to wet a line.

Cheers Brian, it does sound good doesn't it! Don't worry you'll get into a phat one this year, something tells me 2024 is going to be a good season.
Well done Sir. Beautiful fish.
Many thanks 👍
Great fishing, and a great fish in great condition, no wonder it made your season!
Many thanks, I drove home smiling from ear to ear that day.

What a gorgeous lady! Looks pretty fresh! Good job 🤙
Many thanks, she was a beauty
We fish at kielder for rainbow trout and there is quite big brown trout in the North tyne
You are lucky to have such good fishing nearby. Do you fish kielder from the bank?
Well done dude 👏
Many thanks, I love it when a plan comes together. Ready for 2024?
Yeah I reckon I am - but I think I will buy a bigger net (positive thoughts etc) Good luck for your season, no doubt we'll bump into each other again at some point @@abakerslife
You too, hope the net sees plenty of sport.
Get in 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
👍
Good stuff:)
👍
So that's what a salmon looks like 😂. Well done she was a beauty.
Cheers, apparently they still exist though most of the time it's hard to believe!
Nice one pal but I missed "stupid .........." at 10.30. Hopefully nothing coarse!!! Cheers mate.
I think I was using the ancient Anglo saxon term to describe someone who strikes too soon.
Well done you deserved that one👍
Many thanks 👍

Rob which beats are these? Cheers Joe
Sorry Joe, I'm not able to divulge. If the location isn't disclosed in rhe title it's because for one reason or another I have to keep it quiet.
Everybody loves the pretty girls. Beautiful
