If I had been truly selfish and cared about my lifestyle and happiness, I would have had the smarts to leave this country even before choosing to go to college. The world we live in is so magnificent and abundant with resources for all, and astounding but naturally given potential to our species. You can vote till your eyes bleed but so long as politicians can rely on being able to manipulate from within, all the while making you feel warm and toasty that "things are being done", you will never be heard because there is no need to hear you. The battle isn't to entertain and vote against crap that is going around these days in a political and media system designed to divide... the battle is why has the system been allowed to get to the point of being fundamentally challenged in the first place. When was the last time you were personally polled and the question was "should we change the system"? I sure as heck don't see any voting being call by decision-makers to uproot their own cushy positions for the betterment of the citizen representation. There are a lot of things have have crept up and degraded the system over the years. Corporations and religion need to leave government outright.
Personally, I don't know what in the world makes a politician, at any level, on whichever side, think that we will all bend to the knee in fealty just because they "voted" to change to an authoritarian/monarchy system "within legal means of the current system". You are living in la-la land and to even bring this up in our current law of the land should be treated as outright treason.

I thank God for you Bernie! I am convinced that the only good things in our society are due to you being in our Senate and fighting for those of us who are losing in this fight against Oligarchy. I am 73, holding onto my housing with my fingernails as run away prices and other cost increases threaten to make me homeless. It doesn’t help when I hear that the recent CGI index reported that inflation is down and therefore those of us on SSN will not see an increase this year despite costs of goods increasing everyday. Some nights I pray that I will not wake up, because what once was a middle class life is now a lower class life and I know I am one broken hip away from a financial disaster I will never recover from. Who wants to live like this, with food and housing insecurity? But every time I watch you speak, I see your compassion, your humanity and I thank God for you and those who stand with you. And I live another day. We need you, your wisdom, your influence, your humanity. Please don’t retire!

AI, Global Warming, wealth inequality, wars, women's rights, healthcare, housing, and education, are all big issues that threaten the next generations worldwide. I would love to see this man elected. While growing through my childhood I could see this all coming, by the behavior of the people and the other things I was learning about human history and current affairs. I decided to forego having a family. My children would have been in their mid thirties maybe with children of their own by now. We see now the hell my offspring would be facing. I am not psychic, just put two and two together. If I had been truly selfish and cared about my lifestyle and happiness, I would have had the smarts to leave this country even before choosing to go to college. You are the only representative I have ever related to, and I worked to get you elected the first time you ran. I was horrified but not surprised how you were undone by the nasty corrupt democratic party. The world we live in is so magnificent and abundant with resources for all, and astounding but naturally given potential to our species. I have had the good fortune to be able to meet people on a daily basis and enjoy how sweet they all are, and I am a big ol' goofball who always has a cheerful greeting for everyone. The world's most joyful lifelong depressed person. Life is so beautiful, and magical, and has its ups and downs. It is the unnecessary greed that has quashed our potential all these millennia. What an astronomical waste of our life energy and time. Can you imagine the progress we would have made without greed holding us back!! And just having to live with it as part of our lives, I sometimes just imagine I am an early human enjoying the wonders of nature while evading giant carnivores every minute of every day. We must participate in elections at all levels of government (even the school board elections). Otherwise, the US far right faction … well, I’ll liken them to bamboo, don’t follow the teachings they profess to follow. Much like bamboo, these initiatives are invasive. They spread under the surface even if one eradicates the stand of bamboo above the ground. They will continue to grow and spread until the rhizomes are gone. AND, not only must we vote, we have to address the ideology of the far right. I think you’ve laid out a good path, sir. Back to my bamboo analogy, if we don’t diligently watch for reemergence for years after the plant has been removed, it WILL become a problem again.
