I like Herb, but he's far from perfect. I also like Hardy, who also has some issues. I think it would be fine if there was a bit more open discourse around this sport without the hype/ narrative getting in the way of simple conversation.

@@dezignateddriva The difference is that what Dan Hardy did, though it almost certainly wasn't his intention, is fight-fixing.
If a commentator that works for the UFC demands that the referee, who is contracted by the athletic commission, end the fight and the referee does it, then that means that the UFC called the result of the fight. That's illegal.
Even if the referee called the fight by his own judgment, not listening to the commentator at all, the result of the fight is now called into question. This opens up the UFC to a ton of legal problems, likely resulting in them being banned from holding competitions under that athletic commission (i.e.- in that state/country). Other commissions will also take note of this and may choose not to work with the UFC, either. Worse, the UFC may actually be taken down because they engaged in fight-fixing, and socially, they would almost certainly lose a ton of the fan-base who would no longer trust any fight wasn't being fixed. Heck, there are already a ton of people that say the UFC fixes fights.

Herb did everything right here, by touching gloves gives an indication that the game is still on. Focus focus focus

You can see pereira closed the distances with that double hop ever so slightly, right as Herb is calling timeout. It’s cheeky, but it’s no way Pereiras fault for taking what’s in front of him. Herb didn’t give a proper break/resume in action. End of the day Jamahal is just a clown for letting his guard down and relaxing so much with a killer right in front of him. He was looking to apologize to pereira after the foul and ease back into the fight, stood still as he commited the foul meanwhile pereiras double hopping over, got him stuck against the fence and jamahal didn’t even know it.

As a referee, you are supposed to check if the one hit by the low blow is ok. When the fighter says he is good, you let them fight. Rogan is doing this for attention & hype. Herb is simply putting food in his table.

Joe isn't saying Jamel wasn't ready . he's saying peria moved into a better position to get the knock out. I dont believe it was herbs fault. more of Jamal not adjusting when his opponent moved forward during the breif timeout.

Well, to anyone who actually watched the fight, Pereira pushed Herb Dean away, so it's not absurd to think it might have disrupted the flow in Pereira's favor. And I don't know that Pereira was actually allowed to do that, Herb Dean has the right to step in whenever he wants and Pereira kind of denied him that. This whole sequence was unusual for sure so it's not surprising that there are diverging views on it.

The fighters know it was a accident, no damage done, no drama needed. In sports like football they behave like drama queens not athletes. MMA fighter are the toughest athletes.

I've been telling people this since the day it happened. Not only was Hill absolutely ready to fight again, but he even backstepped to maintain a distance he wanted AND threw a punch first.

I’ve been saying ever since I heard him on the podcast that it was a clean KO with no bs. Rogan also said he Jamal was keeping Alex at kicking range the entire fight until that happened. When in reality, they were actually tapping each other’s lead hands almost the entire match. Just like my boxing coach always said , “if I can touch you, I can hit you.”

They're both right, the fight was stopped due to a perceived low kick, Jamal did relax and Pereira was advancing as they touched gloves and got the knockout. Ideally Jamal would have stayed ready

Herb absolutely did the correct thing there. I gotta be honest, huge Joe Rogan fan… but it seems like when the podcast blew up his commentary started to lack. I’d rather listen to Paul Felder and Michael Bisping at this point. You can keep Dominick Cruz and Anthony Smith though…

"Truth doesn't matter" unfortunatly that's a huge problem with our society as whole nowadays. Not just in sports.
