Totally agree with the conclustion!. DCT is not really suited for us since we almost always have traffic blocks. Torque converter automatic is more suited for us i believe.

I've been using an 8-speed DCT (Aisin Warner gearbox) and they seem to be pretty reliable. I've heard of Volvos lasting for 700000 kms. Obviously, terrain and conditions do matter, but this tech's been in development for more than a decade, so I'd still bet on them :)

Been driving a 7 speed DCT in bangalore/kerala, and in the last 4 years only once did transmission overheat. This happened in one of our hill station trip and heavy bumper to bumper traffic while coming down..and it was more of a mistake from my side, I should have idled in N instead it was in drive mode.. all I had to do is shut the engine of for 2 minutes and it was alright.. You need to be a responsible driver, car would appreciate being in N when you are in traffic and if you are stopping for more than 30 seconds.. otherwise the worry is unnecessary.. DCT gives a great driving experience!

The DSG gearbox that comes in Kushaq/Taigun/Virtus/Slavia is dry clutch. The DCA gearbox that comes in Altroz/Nexon is wet clutch.
i think modern day automatics are nearly as quick as a dct and reliable as well...so you wont miss a dct in a daily driver car.
