You are an excellent builder, I like how you don’t have the bedrooms right next to each other, you put so much thought into building this home. If I lived in Nebraska I would love to have you as a builder.
Brad can you break down the cost of both of your solar systems. Maybe have a guy come out for your channel and do a break down on how the whole system works and how it's all hooked up.
@Brad the Builder, hey bud the house looks fantastic. My wife and I really like it. You did a fantastic job and your wife did a great job decorating. Its nice seeing you and Andrew together. Y'all should do a video together maybe once every other month. It would boost both your views on TH-cam as well. Hope you and your family are well bud, take care.
That's a really cool house. Our latest project for my parents house is insulating the garage and putting the heater in. Getting close to the time for great grandkids and the house is too small. There is no inspector in the county they live in so they can do what they want to the property. My dad is retired so he comes up with ideas and everyone comes out and helps him when we can or if a friend needs some money he'll work for my dad. One thing they did when they built the house was to make it handicap accessable so every door and all the stairs are extra wide, they have decks on three sides of the house, and they built a wheelchair ramp in the front of the house. It worked well for when I had a stroke and had trouble walking up and down stairs and they are getting older now. They put a handicap chair on the main stairs going up to the loft so anyone can get up there. The only problem they may have in the future is no chair on the stairs going down to the basement. Last year we built a shed for his sapping and it's big enough to fit a tractor inside and the two sides are shelves sitting on some giant slabs of wood. He puts wood on them for sapping. One side sits for two years before he uses that wood. His shed is next to that with a garage on one side with an inclosed shop inside of that
Looks good. I really love the kitchen and living room. Something you can think about for the next builds, is in the laundry room. If people want both storage and frontloaders. Then make it built in, in a closet. So you have closet space above and below, for all the cleaning products ect. And then have the machines elevated so you dont have to either stretch or bend over to use them. But it looks great.
My mom has a giant table down in the basement with some doors in it. My dad's grandmother used it in her restaurant to make bread on. The doors used to hold flour and such. My mom uses it to fold her laundry on it. My dad said he moved it out of his mom's storage area and that all he is moving it. He had to take it apart to get it down the back stairs. The wooden top is at least six inches thick and weighs hundreds of pounds It's funny because the sink in the basement has a bunch of old butcher knives on it for cleaning deer like our old house that are well over a hundred years old.
You and Andrew should go in together to get a wood chipper. It's not something that either one of you would use every day but it sure would be nice to have sometimes.
I started watching this for the house tour, but I soon realized it was more of a small comedy session 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 you guys make a great comedy team, 👍🏻❤️ The house IS beautiful.
The house looks great. I love the kitchen/family room. It's all lovely. I really like the light fixtures over the kitchen island. When you first hung them, I thought they may have been too big for the area, but boy was I wrong. They look fantastic. That portable sauna was really neat. I would love to get one of them - I feel like it would be great for my back pain, etc. Like a body-sized heating pad! Max's suite downstairs is nice too. All he needs is a little hot plate and a microwave and he'll never have to come upstairs, haha. Although, I'm sure eating with you guys is far better than anything he'd make for himself. I say that only because I know how I ate when I first moved out of my mom and dad's house 30+ years ago. I also know how my daughter ate when she was away at college and living with roommates! Thanks for the tour. Your wife did a lovely job decorating your home. She has great taste in style, decor and hubbies! Say hi to her from your annoying, novel-length-commenter on your channel🤣! Take care, Heather🇨🇦
My parents used their sauna for giving the grandkids baths in but never really used it. They have probably bought five hot tubs over the years. I had to put an iron thing under the hot tub because the porch was starting to sag though.
I’m kind of new to the channel after a few months. I’m sure there is some history between Brad and Flair. Never seen Flair’s channel but I’m sure he has one.
Brad...Looking at your website, you definitely build impressive structures. For that reason, I was thinking you might direct me to a solution for my sunroom project. I am adding a cathedral ceiling sunroom by extending the first floor on the back of my home which has a second floor 12" cantilevered extension as shown in the attached picture. The challenge is supporting the ridge beam on the rim of the cantilever. What methods should I consider? I would appreciate any guidance you can provide. Thank you, Chuck Raleigh, NC
I’ll have to check with my wife I don’t have that readily available but can you email me as a reminder to find the color for you? bradthebuilderYT@gmail.com
Brad, only thing I don't understand is why is it on 3 floors? I saw the video on your lake house, and you made room for an elevator. Do you have such a thing in this house?
This home has three floors because the garages are underneath,(Level 1) and I did make a guest suite in the lower level… the main floor has a master than two guest suites on the second floor, which actually is the third floor because the garages are underneath. I should’ve planned for an elevator in this home, but it was supposed to be a smaller future guesthouse down the road as I’ll be building my main home in the coming years on the next lot over
how do you afford a house like this? Is this usually an all cash buy or some sort of mortgage? How much would you need to earn to afford something like this?
Well… I’ve been building homes for over 35 years, I invest a lot of my earnings so that one day I can afford a home like this! Lenders want you to put down at least 20% and then you can finance the rest. I put down more because I’m at the age where I do not want to have a big house payment.
weird how needing permits and hiring other people to do things under contracts creates inflation, like i got a AAM1150 axle for my car used but in very good condition at just slightly above scrap price by weight... reconditioned and such and calculated in a permit system of regulations where i live in Canada there could have been an additional taxable income of 27'000cad for someone to actually go thru with fitting and installation of something like that... something like that being 250 bucks inflated as 27'000, done a little differently tho not actually costing more then the 250 bill passed to remove it from being recycled. how can one person work for two weeks to donate a federally regulated aspect of value to something nearing 334 bucks an hour? ... a $120 electrical service wire to the little shed out back... quoted use daily for decades not just 2 weeks, one might complain about code violations to have it taken away or try running the thought of a serviceable overhead loss to industrial use being more then half a million every year extrapolated over the general public. but the tax return has no intervention on it, a buck or two is a big deal.
Fun to watch these videos but would never do business with him ever I called a while back about having a custom house built was unprofessional and rude on the phone and kept lying through his teeth to me
